Not long after the earthquake subsided, from the other end of the corridor ca a series of rapid "click-clack" sounds, as if soone was quick-stepping in high heels.
Who could be so devoid of elegance?
A Dream Demon with sluggish movents frowned, curiously glancing out the window.
The mont she saw that face, she imdiately retracted her neck and sat properly back at her workstation.
Mia Padric!
No wonder!
The clicking sound was so rhythmic, like the beat of a symphony... she couldn't help but hum along.
Unaware of what her colleagues were saying behind her back, Mia's mind was in turmoil as she barged aggressively into the corridor outside the Transmission Room, heading straight for the Teleportation Array.
Demons waiting outside in the corridor made way for her, all with faces as if they'd seen a ghost. Even when cut in line, they didn't dare express any displeasure.
"Miss Mia! Miss Mia—!"
Deputy Director Grien chased closely behind, hair in disarray, not caring about appearance or elegance at all.
"Please calm down! The Surface World is vast, even if sothing does happen, it might not affect the Demon King Territory in distant Thunder County!"
Mia didn't turn her head, nor did she hear what he was saying. She continued walking briskly, coldly throwing out a sentence.
"I need to see for myself!"
No news for seven whole days.
Usually, she would just assu Luo Yan was busy and would wait, but the sudden loss of contact at this critical mont... she couldn't help but panic!
As a mber of the Padric family, she knew much more than the average citizen of Demon City.
It's rumored that there was intense subspace disturbance on the surface sea, with giant waves hundreds of ters high sweeping across the coastline!
She hadn't studied human world maps, but she knew Thunder County was on the coast!
Just thinking about Luo Yan's maze being subrged in seawater made her so anxious she could stomp her feet.
"That's against the rules!" Grien was already stomping his feet in anxiety and said in urgency, "Moreover... if sothing really has happened there, wouldn't your going just cause more trouble for Mr. Luo Yan?"
He knew the rules weren't the main point. The bottom line was that if the Padric family's young lady got into trouble, especially due to his negligence... Mr. Feistin would surely skin him alive!
No need for any rules!
After all, she's one of the rules!
Mia's steps paused, a trace of sadness and regret flashed in her eyes as she lightly bit her slightly trembling lips.
Like most won overwheld by emotion, she only heard the words "if sothing really happened" from the entire sentence, skipping all the key information.
"If that's really the case... I..."
"Please don't say 'I can't live without him'."
A gentle voice, with a hint of teasing, sounded at the door of the Transmission Room.
Mia turned her head sharply.
It was Luo Yan standing there, wearing a travel-worn robe, smiling as he looked into her eyes.
He had just stepped out of the Teleportation Array, and the residual magic power on him hadn't fully dissipated.
"Luo Yan!"
Mia froze for two seconds, then excitedly rushed towards him. Just before she reached him, she managed to stop her steps, turning her head away with a flushed face to hide her embarrassed expression.
Completely unnecessary.
Through her reddened earlobes and neck, Luo Yan could see all her worries.
"Are you... are you okay?" Mia asked softly.
Grien looked at Luo Yan with a grateful expression, his face full of relief, as if he wanted to kneel in gratitude.
With a look that said "leave this to ," Luo Yan tidied his sleeve while responding with a chuckle, "As you can see, I'm perfectly fine."
His calm deanor completely released the tension from Mia's heart.
She continued to ask.
"What's really happening outside? Do you know? I heard it might have sothing to do with subspace... is it Chaos again? They haven't set their sights on you, have they?"
Luo Yan's expression beca subtle.
Rather than saying he knew, it was more like he was the one who did it...
Of course.
He certainly wouldn't report the true situation to Demon City, especially the part about "Taufu."
"I was just about to report on this... but this isn't the place to talk, let's find sowhere else to discuss it."
