Chapter 50: Chapter 50: To Be Tail-Cut
An acting teacher taught them how to perform, and after a morning of intensive training courses, the director personally drew lots to form small groups of three, creating six groups in total.
The two children grouped with Tao Ti were both child actors, one nad Orange and the other Lin Zhi.
Orange, seven years old this year, wore a bright orange dress and had her hair styled in a princess cut with wavy bangs. Her eyes weren’t very large, so she wore a pair of white glasses with cartoon cat ears. She tilted her head towards the cara and made a heart shape with her hands.
She was a girl with a cute persona but was quite reserved when not on cara.
Lin Zhi, six years old this year, wore a green shirt, sports pants, a pair of white shoes and had her hair tied up in a high ponytail. Her skin was a healthy wheat color, and she made a gun gesture towards the cara, looking very cool.
She didn’t have a persona; offstage and onstage, she was the sa— a girl who loved to act cool.

Today, Tao Ti wore a white T-shirt, a cal-colored jacket, a pair of black straight-leg pants, and a pair of cal-colored Martin boots. When the cara panned to her, Tao Ti smiled shyly.
Despite her not insignificant fa, she still felt a bit nervous in front of the cara.
The show’s producers had hired a studio to collaborate on filming the short film, along with an internet celebrity with extensive experience in this field. They would guide the children in each group to complete a D-music video.
The video would be uploaded to D-music, and the three groups with the highest number of likes would move on to the next round.
Tao Ti, Orange, and Lin Zhi entered a room with a flying horse painted on the door.
There were five people in the room: a short film director and scriptwriter, a middle-aged man, a young woman, and two young n.
The director and scriptwriter waved at the three children and said, “In this short film we’re shooting, you and this sister are rmaids. One day, she saves a human man and falls in love with him…”
Lin Zhi and Orange seriously listened to the story, but Tao Ti was sowhat distracted.
The director and scriptwriter asked, “Little Taotie, is there sothing you don’t understand?”
“rmaids aren’t allowed to bring humans back or fall in love with them; they will be…” Tao Ti tilted her head, rembering the information she had learned in her dreams. After recalling for a mont, she earnestly replied, “They will get their tails chopped off.”
The director and scriptwriter laughed, thinking Little Taotie was just taking a story she heard sowhere too seriously, and found her quite interesting.
“In our story, the rmaids are very kind. There’s no rule against humans entering their territory, nor is there a rule against falling in love with humans.”
Tao Ti nodded as if she kind of understood.
The director and scriptwriter continued the story, “You are three carefree rmaids. You all can swim, right? There will be underwater scenes.”
Lin Zhi lifted her chin proudly, “I’m the fastest swimr in my school. Even the boys can’t beat !”
Orange’s eyes flickered and she looked at Tao Ti, saying, “I’ve seen Tao Ti dive in to save soone. She swims so fast, like a fish, and her swimming form is beautiful!”
eting Orange’s admiring gaze, Tao Ti beca a bit embarrassed, pursed her lips, and revealed a pair of Little Dimples, “I like diving in to catch fish; if you swim too slowly, the fish get away.”
Lin Zhi, feeling her spotlight stolen, snorted coldly and muttered, “Only a penniless person would have to catch their own fish!”
A mischievous triumph flashed through Orange’s eyes, keeping her accomplishnts and notoriety hidden deep.
Tao Ti didn’t get angry but nodded seriously, “My family is poor, so I need to work hard to make money! Winning first place ans I can be the leading lady and earn lots of money! I must win first place!”
The director and scriptwriter looked at Orange with a smile, and Orange, seeing her calculation fail, felt a twinge of annoyance. She lifted her eyes and t the seemingly smiling face of the director and scriptwriter, but could not detect a hint of mirth in his eyes.
Orange’s heart skipped a beat—her scheming had been completely seen through!
