"Don’t understand?" Little Taotie tilted his head and pointed to the old lady’s head, "There’s a little baby on top of your head, all wet. It must have been drowned."
The old lady thought of the child she had thrown into the river, her body shaking uncontrollably.
It shouldn’t be known by anyone, impossible!
In the countryside, how could a woman possibly have only one son? The reason she had only one son was that she had given birth to five daughters consecutively, which had damaged her health. It was only when she was much older that she finally conceived this latecor son.
The old lady believed that daughters were a financial loss. In those tis of scarcity, she had no desire to nourish another loss, so she "dealt with" every daughter.
Every ti she took a daughter out, the old man would say, "Send her to a good family. No matter what, she is our flesh and blood. If we can’t afford her, let those who can afford to take good care of her. Maybe one day they can be recognized."
But the old lady saw daughters as a financial burden and thought it best they never co back. Giving them away could an they might return asking for money in the future. So, she decided not to be halfway about it and completely ... dealt with the baby girls.
The one thrown into the river was her eldest daughter, and her first child.
At first, she was haunted by nightmares every night, but after the second, third, fourth, fifth ti, she beca numb and never dreamt of it again. She was about to forget those five children, but she never expected that a secret from many years ago would be stabbed out by a strange child!
Even the old man didn’t know those children were gone; he just thought the kids had been sent to be raised by a good family.
If it weren’t for their son being successful and capable, the old man would have long wanted to find the five daughters, thinking about having them help out.
Little Taotie then pointed at the old lady’s shoulder, "Here, there’s a baby girl with a neck full of bruises."
The old lady could no longer keep calm, her eyes widened in terror.
It was her second daughter!
She had strangled her to death!
Little Taotie’s voice did not stop but pointed to the baby girl clutching at the old lady’s leg, the baby girl raising her head, with hollow eyes.
"And here, there’s another one, she seems to be unable to see anything, blood flowing down her forehead."
The old lady’s face turned pale, and she covered her heart, struggling to breathe.
It was her third daughter!
When she gave birth to this daughter, she was already in her thirties. Being childless would be a matter of ridicule in the village. She thought that regardless of whether it was a boy or girl, she would keep the child. If she had a son later, she would then deal with it, and if not, at least she would have soone to take care of her in her old age.
When she held the baby, and the baby opened her eyes, she threw the child to the ground.

"There’s another one..." Little Taotie’s voice rose again, echoing in the old lady’s ears like the Devil judging her, exposing each of her cris to the world, displaying the secrets she had hidden for many years.
No! She couldn’t let her continue!
With strength from who knows where, the old lady suddenly got up from the ground, her hands clawing towards Little Taotie’s neck.
This was an attempt to kill to silence!
Little Taotie stepped back, and before he could act, another person appeared before him, it was Hua Jinyan.
