Yang Lusi looked confused, "Is this person really impressive?"
"Ha!" The director shook his head, "Sneaky, very sneaky."
Yang Lusi beca interested and asked, "What’s the deal? Is the person of bad character?"
The scriptwriter worried, "If the person is really bad, could they be a bad influence on Zaizai? It’s not good to have such a person around Zaizai, right?"
The director silently picked up his fork, sat back in his chair, and pulled out a cigarette, "Can I smoke here?"
Both won shook their heads simultaneously.
Director: "..."
He quietly put the cigarette back into the pack, cleared his throat, "Chen Zi, this person, enemies find him a headache, but if he’s on your team, he’s very welcod."
Scriptwriter: "So having him around Zaizai isn’t harmful?"
The director nodded, "Actually, when he first entered this field, it wasn’t as a public relations person but as a manager."
"Manager?" Yang Lusi was surprised, "How co I’ve never heard of this?"
"You entered the industry late. By the ti you joined, he was long out of the manager ga, sort of pushed out by the forces of capital."
"Huh?" Yang Lusi frowned, "Isn’t he supposed to be quite cunning? How co he was pushed out just like that?"
The director habitually fumbled for his cigarette pack again, but seeing the won’s disapproving looks, he quietly put it back.
He sighed lightly, "When you enter the industry as a newbie, without resources, without a background, how on earth is the artist you’re assigned to supposed to have any hope of hitting it big? They’re all the ones left over by the veterans."
"Chen Zi, when he first entered, was assigned to a troubleso youth, soone who played rock music. But the band disbanded, everyone else quit, but he insisted on continuing with music. He looked good, very handso, so the company signed him."
"But soon after signing, one of his forr bandmates also signed with a company and wanted to step on him to beco famous, exposing a lot of his past."
Yang Lusi was curious, "What sort of things?"
The director touched his cigarette, "Things like smoking and drinking, you can buy those at the supermarket, but national regulations state that minors are not allowed to smoke or drink."
Yang Lusi’s eyes flickered for a mont, rembering that she drank alcohol when she was twelve or thirteen, during a family New Year, when her elders let her try it. Although it was fruit wine, wasn’t it still not allowed?
The director caught her flickering eyes and chuckled, pointing to the cigarette in his hand, "Not going to lie, I secretly smoked from a young age. I thought it was cool then, and couldn’t quit later on. With no one exposing it, it’s no big deal, you understand?"
Yang Lusi nodded, "I understand, as a public figure, once sothing is exposed, even small matters get magnified, let alone things like smoking and drinking which are explicitly forbidden."
"That’s exactly it." The director sighed, "That young man actually quit smoking and drinking and hasn’t touched them since becoming a trainee. But the incidents were exposed, and those photos were made public. In the photos, the young man had multicolored hair, wore pants full of holes, sported smoky makeup, looking like a non-mainstream kind of person. Clearly not a good student, and he was holding a cigarette in his mouth. Do you think soone like that could still beco an idol?"
Yang Lusi shook her head, "Even if so people still like him, most of those who do are kids, and their parents wouldn’t agree, wouldn’t let their kids idolize a troubled youth."
The director, with a mysterious air, "Exactly, that person was basically scrapped. The contract wasn’t up, and he was still a trainee. Everyone knew he had no future, so they assigned him to the newly entered Chen Zi. Guess what, did this person debut?"
The scriptwriter scoffed, "With you telling it like this, he definitely debuted, and very likely beca big."
Yang Lusi nodded along, "Definitely made it! Otherwise, you wouldn’t be telling us about it!"
