Chapter 1044: Chapter 123: Blood Transfusion One

While treating Ji Hao, Teacher Mo devised several treatnt plans for Manbao, but due to technical limitations, she was only able to use one thing—Chinese ginseng!

This dicinal herb was procured at the ti and, following Teacher Mo’s prescription, was made into a hemostatic dicine. When combined with a blood-nourishing formula, this concoction finally snatched the patient back from the clutches of the Grim Reaper.

But all this allowed Teacher Mo to understand just how ancient their world was, and also enlightened Manbao about many different dical practices.

It turns out, there were so many different treatnt thods available for blood loss, each one involving various skills.

She wanted to learn them all!

However, after Teacher Mo considered the gap between the two worlds, he shattered her illusions, only allowing her to practice on human-like models. What he could offer her was better hemostatic recipes and blood replenishnt techniques.

There were two thods for replenishing blood. One was autonomous hematopoiesis, and the other was the direct blood supplentation ntioned by Manbao.

Of the two thods, the first was naturally the best, as it depended on the body’s own capacity to produce blood, without any concerns about compatibility.

Yet, there are always people whose ability to produce blood is poor or who lose too much blood and can’t make it through without the aid of a transfusion to help them overco the initial hurdle.

Manbao had carefully studied with Teacher Mo; in Keke’s world, blood transfusions were simply not an issue because this technique had been mastered in their ancient tis.

The difficulty was for Manbao to figure out how to develop this thod in her world.

She failed many tis, but eventually, she did manage to develop four different serums. Instead of using her teacher’s letter notation, she labeled them one, two, three, and four. She believed in the philosophy that “one begets two, two begets three, three begets all things,” thus serum three was what Teacher Mo ntioned—the type that could be matched with all blood types.

Teacher Mo was taken aback by her statent, fearing at first she might confuse the blood types. However, after racking his brain and setting nurous questions to test her, he found that she could solve all of them correctly after substituting them with one, two, three, and four.

Although Teacher Mo considered himself exceptionally intelligent and knowledgeable, he felt dizzy trying to comprehend her one, two, three, and their correlation to the ABO system. Unable to contain his confusion any longer he finally asked her, “If there are already existing markers, why design a new set?”

Manbao replied, “But, sir, I don’t recognize those letters you ntioned.”

“I’ve taught you.”

“I understand them now, but others in my world do not. What’s the use if I’m the only one who knows? In the future, the knowledge is ant to be shared. Instead of making them struggle to understand these letters, why not give them new nas that are easier to comprehend?”

“And you couldn’t pick nas that are more pleasing to the ear and easier to differentiate? Who uses one, two, three, four?”

“I believe these are the best nas. Blood is the essence of qi, and qi is the source of blood, and it is by qi that people live. Daode Tianzun believed that ‘Dao begets one, one begets two, two begets three, three begets all things.’ Using one, two, three to represent the different types of blood couldn’t be more appropriate.”

Teacher Mo was overwheld. He couldn’t understand what his student was saying, and mustering his patience, he asked, “Who said that?”

“Which part? The first part is my own understanding; the latter is said by Laozi?”

Since their communication was through text, Teacher Mo replied, “Aren’t they both said by you?”

Manbao didn’t understand how Teacher Mo had co to that conclusion. She stared at the text she had sent, montarily lost in thought, then slowly coming to a realization, she sent another ssage: “Laozi, also known as Li Er or Taishang Laojun, is a very formidable person. My mother says he’s a deity, and he is also known as Heaven Master. We often call him the Heaven Master.”

This series of nas successfully perplexed Teacher Mo. He couldn’t comprehend why one person had so many titles, but since it had nothing to do with dicine, Teacher Mo eventually forced himself to skip over that line of text and started discussing other issues with Manbao.

Teacher Mo might not understand, but the Crown Prince did—actually, most people in this world would understand upon hearing Manbao’s words.

In any case, while the patient was still bedridden and the physicians were busy preparing and administering dicines, Manbao found a chair to sit down and explain the blood types to the Crown Prince.

“Generally speaking, people’s blood can be categorized into four types: one, two, three, four. The compatibility is greatest between people with the sa blood type, so we just need to find soone with the sa blood type for a transfusion trial.”

The Crown Prince’s eyes sparkled as he asked, “Is the blood of close relatives not necessary?”

“No need. As long as the blood types match, it’s fine.”

The Crown Prince stood up excitedly and said to the eunuch behind him, “Go to the Du residence, bring Du Yu to , and test his blood for compatibility.”

Manbao was stunned and asked, “Shouldn’t we try the dicine first?”

The Crown Prince waved his hand, “Prepare it first. If the dicine is ineffective, imdiately proceed with the… transfusion, right?”

“Who is this Du Yu anyway,” Manbao said, “a relative? Generally, there’s a higher chance of finding the sa blood types within relatives.”

The Crown Prince frowned, “He’s not.”

Then why go to all the trouble to bring him here?

With so many people around here, why not just line them up and test their blood?

Thinking this, Manbao suddenly rembered sothing and promptly stood up, “The serum is still at my place; I’ll go get it.”

The Crown Prince frowned, “Where did you put it? I can have soone fetch it for you.”

“No, the serum must be carefully handled, and only I know where my things are kept. Anyway, the dicine needs to be taken to see its effect, there’s no rush. I’ll go back and get my stuff.”

After a mont of thought, the Crown Prince turned to the eunuch behind him, “You personally escort this young doctor back ho, and make sure to bring back the items imdiately.”

The eunuch Dason breathed a sigh of relief, answered affirmatively after which, concerned, he carefully asked, “And the matter with Master Du…”

The Crown Prince sneered, “I will have the Imperial Guards invite him.”

Sweating, the eunuch acquiesced, waved at Bai Shan and Manbao, and urged them to hurry.

Bai Shan picked up the carry basket, leading Manbao out. By the ti they reached the outer chamber, the small official had already moved the physician lying on the ground onto a couch and had finished suturing and bandaging the wound.

Manbao paused mid-step, turning to check the physician’s pulse.

The eunuch, anxious, but with the Crown Prince inside the room, dared not speak loudly, could only quietly urge, “Young Doctor Zhou, let’s go quickly, there are other physicians here.”

But Manbao asked the small official standing by, “Why haven’t you prescribed dicine for him?”

The official sneakily glanced at the eunuch, lowered his gaze, and said, “The apothecary is busy preparing dicine for the young prince, and they can’t spare anyone just yet.”

Manbao felt that if this person remained here, even though his wound was stitched up, he would eventually die.

She turned back into the inner chamber and addressed the Crown Prince, standing in the center of the room, “Crown Prince, may I take this physician outside?”

The Crown Prince turned to look at her, a cold smile on his face, “You do like to ddle…”

Standing next to Manbao, Bai Shan bowed and said, “Your Highness, the head of Jishi Hall is waiting outside. We will hand him over, and it won’t delay us.”

Continuing, he said, “Zhou Man is a healer, and a healer’s heart is compassionate. As the leader of the people, Your Highness should also exemplify compassion.”
