Chapter 1098: Chapter 1777: From Afar
Though the old man was advanced in age, his eyes were clear. Although he didn’t lack any red dates or brown sugar, seeing Manbao’s smiling face still made him very happy, so after hugging a pile of things, he nodded repeatedly and cheerfully said, “Very good, very good, this young girl has a full forehead, a sure sign of fortune. Eh, I just saw you helping out at Jishi Hall, are you a child of the Zheng Family?”
“No, I am the attending doctor at Jishi Hall.”
“Eh, Jishi Hall has a female doctor now?” The old man was sowhat skeptical, mainly because the child looked so young.
Standing next to her, Bai Shan said, “Old sir, she is now known as the famous young miracle doctor in the capital.”
The old man pondered for a mont, then with an “Oh,” he said, “I rember now, the little child from the Su Family was saved by you?”
Manbao said with surprise, “You know Su Jian too?”
“I t him a few years back,” the old man said with a smile, “He’s a mischievous child.”
He squinted his eyes and looked back and forth between the two people for a while, then asked, “Do you two children know each other?”
Manbao nodded, pointing at him and said, “My Junior Brother.”
Bai Shan added, “We grew up together, I am older than her.”
Old man: …His eyes weren’t clouded, nor his heart blind, he looked at the two children, nodded slightly, and asked, “You are Senior Sister and Junior Brother, may I know who your ntor is?”
“Dad——”
With a loud shout, Manbao and Bai Shan instinctively looked over and saw a middle-aged man jump off a horse and run straight towards them.
The old man sitting in front of them didn’t even turn his head, instead he directly lifted his sleeve to cover the side of his face.
However, the middle-aged man ran straight over, yanked down his sleeve, and said irritably, “Father, why are you hiding? I’ve already seen you.”
The old man then sighed and lowered his sleeve, “Why have you co, aren’t you supposed to be at the County Governntal Office today?”
“I ca over as soon as I got the letter from ho. Father, you too, if you were coming to the capital, why didn’t you inform us at ho? You could have at least sent a letter to . Second Brother was frightened out of his wits when he found out you were gone.”
The old man didn’t say anything, just nodding his head.
Yin Huo ca over, he glanced at the middle-aged man and felt he looked familiar but couldn’t rember who he was.
He hadn’t t enough people, but seeing the official boots on the man’s feet, he knew he must be an official.
Liu Huan finished distributing his things and turned around to find his friends. Noticing Yin Huo and Bai Shan with Manbao standing together, he curiously approached and upon seeing the middle-aged man, he curiously said, “Eh, Assistant Minister Yu, what are you doing here?”
Bai Shan and the others all lowered their heads to look at the old man. Liu Huan followed their gaze, paused for a mont, and with so uncertainty said, “County Duke Yu?”
County Duke Yu smiled at him and nodded, then asked his son, “This child is…?”
Assistant Minister Yu said, “He’s the child of Minister Liu.”
“Oh, he’s grown so big, good child, good child.” He patted his body, couldn’t find anything to offer, so just folded his hands and sat down.
Liu Huan scratched his head and asked, “County Duke Yu, when did you return to the capital? Weren’t you in Yuezhou?”
County Duke Yu laughed and said, “Just wandering around idly, and when I arrived in the capital it happened to be the Double Ninth Festival, I thought to myself, today is surely a good day, so I ca over to share in the festive wheat.”
Assistant Minister Yu beside him was so irritated his nose was nearly smoking, but Manbao and Bai Shan looked enviously at the old man, one saying, “You are really romantic.”
The other said, “You are truly brave.”
Yin Huo also envied him, envied his freedom, but being a man of few words, he said nothing.
County Duke Yu felt these two children were quite agreeable, so he looked up and smiled at them.
Assistant Minister Yu said, “Father, you’ve also got your things, let’s go ho.”
County Duke Yu said, “There’s still the elder respect al that I haven’t eaten yet. I’ll eat at the County Governntal Office, you go back first, and after I finish eating, I’ll return on my own.”
“Father, we have food at ho too.”
“Is that the sa?” County Duke Yu said, “The al at ho is given by you, but eating here is given by the imperial court.”
Assistant Minister Yu: …Is it not easy if you want to eat the court’s al? Couldn’t you just go to the palace once and get to eat?
In the end, Assistant Minister Yu couldn’t persuade County Duke Yu to co ho, and so he stubbornly joined a large group of elders in front of the County Governntal Office to partake in the elder respect al inside.
After sending all the elders away, it was already 1 p.m-3 p.m, and everyone was sowhat famished, so several who were more familiar with Bai Shan suggested, “Let’s go have a al together.”
A few classmates looked towards Manbao, whom they had also t a few tis and were relatively familiar with, and smiled, “Is Doctor Zhou Junior coming along?”
Manbao glanced at Bai Shan and nodded.
Bai Erlang was naturally brought along as well; he was even more familiar with them, and the whole way there was filled with their chattering voices.
Bai Shan also called Yin Huo over.
Peng Zhiru and the others had hardly spoken to Yin Huo, but they all knew that Bai Shan now had a good relationship with Yin Huo, so no one said anything.
Liu Huan was originally going to play with their friends but seeing Yin Huo joining them, he simply left his friends behind and squeezed in as well.
Bai Shan and Yin Huo both curiously turned their heads to look at him.
Feeling slightly uncomfortable, Liu Huan said, “I’m familiar with Fragrant Full Pavilion. My family has a regular private room there; I’ll take you guys.”
Everyone nodded in agreent.
Liu Huan cleared his throat slightly and asked Yin Huo, “Is your illness better?”
Yin Huo nodded slightly, “I returned to school the day before yesterday.”
“Just heard about it, haven’t seen you, but your complexion looks much better this ti? I rember you used to be pale after recovering from an illness before.”
After thinking for a bit, Yin Huo said, “Maybe it’s because of the good dicine I used.”
Liu Huan then looked at Manbao in surprise, “I heard that the attending doctor for Yin Huo is you now. Are you really that impressive?”
Manbao modestly said, “It’s not that impressive.”
Bai Shan nodded seriously, “Just ordinarily impressive.”
Bai Er chid in, “Third best in the world, haha…”
Hearing this amusing claim, Peng Zhiru and the others asked, “What story is this?”
Bai Er then jovially began to tell them this story, while Bai Shan, uninterested, turned his head to talk with Liu Huan, “I thought you didn’t get along with Yin Huo, but it turns out you’re quite concerned about him?”
Yin Huo listened with ears perked.
Liu Huan couldn’t help but mutter, “Who’s concerned about him? I was just asking, rely out of curiosity…”
This ti Yin Huo took half a month off, even longer than the last ti he fell ill.
You have to know, when Yin Huo was sick last ti, when he ca back, his entire face was pale as if a gust of wind could knock him over.
But this ti, once Yin Huo fell ill, so elders from his family acted strangely, and when people asked the Yin Family, they couldn’t get much information; just that he was ill, very ill.
So people like Liu Huan, whose families were of similar standing to the Yin Family, felt he might have been critically ill.
Ill to the degree that even their families were apprehensive, it was likely there wasn’t much hope left.
Although they weren’t in good terms, the thought of young Yin Huo possibly passing away still left them feeling bitter, but to their surprise, when he returned, his complexion wasn’t much worse than before.
