Capítulo 1535: Chapter 1511: Entered in the Records

It’s impossible to keep it secret; dical records must be written. Otherwise, should sothing happen to the Emperor, who would be responsible, her or Gu Zhong?

However, Manbao did not voice this in front of Gu Zhong. She neither rejected nor agreed, a skill she learned from Director Xiao.

When those in higher positions make unreasonable demands, you should muddle through and follow the rules afterwards; that’s never wrong.

Especially when the consequences are not severe, it’s even more imperative to follow the rules.

Otherwise, what if the originally minor consequences turn severe because you didn’t adhere to the rules?

Only in cases like poisoning, where the consequences are severe, would they discreetly write secret dical records as ordered by those in power, temporarily not entering them in the registry.

But once things are settled, whatever needs to be recorded still needs to be recorded.

Arriving at the palace where the Emperor resided, he was clutching his head, leaning against the couch with a hand pressing his stomach, his face a bit pale.

The Empress, sitting beside him, looked anxious. Seeing Manbao, her expression relaxed, and she quickly gestured, “Doctor Zhou Junior, quickly co and examine His Majesty.”

Manbao opened the dicine box and took out the pulse pillow to step forward and check his pulse.

Gu Zhong, being a considerate attendant, had already explained the Emperor’s symptoms briefly on the way, including what he ate for lunch today and that he ate a sweet lon shortly after the al. He described everything clearly and comprehensively.

Thus, Manbao smartly avoided asking the Emperor embarrassing questions. After feeling his pulse, she said, “It’s cold; does it hurt a lot, Your Majesty?”

Sweet lons are naturally cooling and shouldn’t be eaten excessively. The Emperor ate six in one go, which not only filled him but chilled him.

The Emperor continued clutching his head, nodding slightly.

It’s not just a little pain; it’s very painful, wasn’t he speechless?

Manbao thought for a mont, realizing that brewing dicine would take ti and that he had eaten cold lon shortly after lunch. Taking dicine now might upset his stomach further, so she said, “How about I give Your Majesty so acupuncture?”

She continued, “I happen to have dicine in my box. After acupuncture, I’ll use moxibustion on you, and you can take dicine later in the afternoon.”

The Emperor was in such pain that sweat was beading on his forehead, so he nodded, and under Gu Zhong’s assistance, went to change clothes.

He stripped off his outer garnt, leaving only a middle garnt, and lay down on the couch. Manbao lifted his clothing hem and pressed on his large belly. Hearing his involuntary hiss of pain, she twisted the needles, pinpointed the acupoints, and inserted them.

Manbao inserted six needles, after which the Emperor’s complexion gradually improved, his tightly knitted brows loosened, and he let out a breath, not hurting as much anymore.

Although the pain lessened, his stomach still ached a bit, feeling uncomfortable overall.

Observing the Emperor’s face, Manbao simply inserted two more needles into his arm, allowing him to fully relax.

While feeling the slight pain in his abdon, the Emperor thought silently that these needles from Zhou Man were truly effective; no wonder the people at the Imperial Hospital hadn’t reacted much to awarding her a rank five official title.

Lost in thought, the Emperor drifted into a slumber.

It seed as if he’d only dozed for a mont, and when he regained consciousness, Zhou Man had already removed the needles, holding sothing in her hand to warm his belly, which felt warm, causing so sweat.

The Empress sitting beside him smiled as he woke, “Your Majesty has slept for half an hour.”

“That long?” The Emperor was surprised.

He felt more sweat accumulating on his back, causing so discomfort. He shifted slightly, and Manbao reached out to restrain him, “Your Majesty, don’t move!”

The Emperor then stopped.

Gu Zhong on the side broke out in a cold sweat.

Manbao applied moxibustion, saying, “This is for warming the stomach. Your intestines and stomach caught a chill. This is slowly restoring their warmth. Please don’t move, or you might get burned.”

The Emperor dared not move at all.

Mingda and Changyu watched with great interest from the side, their eyes fixed on their father’s belly. Changyu blurted, “Father’s belly is even larger than sister-in-law’s.”

Only now did the Emperor notice the two daughters were present. Not worrying about getting burned, he quickly pushed Zhou Man’s hand away, buttoned up his clothing, grabbed his outer garnt, covered his belly and flushed in embarrassnt, “Why are you two here?”

He chided the Empress, “The daughters are grown; how could you not stop them?”

The Empress promptly smiled apologetically, pulling Changyu and Mingda, preparing to leave.

Changyu said, “What’s there that can’t be seen? If Father doesn’t allow us to see, we’ll go find Third Brother—his belly’s even bigger than Father’s.”

Seeing that moxibustion was impossible, Manbao put down the items in her hands and comnted in passing, “Prince Gong is too fat; gaining more weight would be detrintal to his health.”

The Emperor imdiately showed concern, asking, “But I see he appears robust, not like soone with health issues.”

Manbao replied, “Your Majesty may consult the Physicians at the Imperial Hospital. In this world, moderation is ideal in everything, including weight. It’s not true that thinner is better, nor is being heavier more robust. Physique-wise, like the Crown Prince, that’s about right; Your Majesty and Prince Gong are slightly overweight.”

Manbao added, “Though Your Majesty is slightly overweight, other than indulging in too much at, there’s no major problem. But Prince Gong, he eats too much at.”

Manbao believed Prince Gong was simply too wealthy, able to indulge to such an extent at a young age.

After all, he was only twenty-three years old, already with such a large belly. What would happen co thirty?

The Emperor pondered, then looked at Manbao, squinting, asking, “Why don’t you help the Crown Prince with so conditioning?”

Manbao shook her head, “Prince Gong doesn’t need conditioning; just avoid giving him at and have him run a lap around the palace city daily. Within two months, he will certainly slim down.”

The Emperor’s expression darkened, “Are you teasing him?”

“Not at all,” Manbao shook her head, “If Your Majesty doesn’t believe it, let Prince Gong try for two months. If he doesn’t slim down, I, I…”

Manbao paused, “I’ll forgo my salary for two months.”

The Emperor couldn’t help but remark sarcastically, “Such determination!”

Yet, the Emperor was seven-tenths convinced; he didn’t think Zhou Man would joke about her salary.

Manbao packed up the dicine box, and the Empress returned after sending the two daughters to the side hall. The Emperor imdiately shared Manbao’s earlier words with the Empress, discussing whether to slim down Third Brother.

The Empress nodded repeatedly, long believing Third was too fat. No matter how she advised, the child loved eating at yet disliked exercising, growing fatter by the day.

After putting away the dicine box, Manbao looked at Gu Zhong, “Shall I prescribe a treatnt for His Majesty? Brew the dicine and drink it an hour later; drink another bowl after dinner in the evening.”

Gu Zhong promptly presented the brush and ink.

While writing the prescription, Manbao also advised, “Tonight, avoid eating greasy foods; so vegetables would be preferable, and congee would aid digestion. Sweet lons are off-limits, and cold or iced items aren’t allowed either…”

After advising everything, Manbao wrote two copies of the prescription, stamped her seal on it, then handed one to Gu Zhong and kept one herself.

Gu Zhong saw this but said nothing.

If Zhou Man didn’t enter it in the records, he wouldn’t be able to escape responsibility if sothing went wrong later. Thus, he pretended as though he hadn’t noticed.
