Capítulo 1906: Chapter 1881: Sorrow

When Manbao erged from the room, Prince Gong was already dressed and lying on the couch, looking as if he had just been pulled out of the water.

Mingda and Changyu imdiately stepped forward with concern, asking, “How is our Third Brother?”

Manbao, with a face full of sorrow and deep regret, said, “Prince Gong… he has a fractured shinbone.”

“Ah?” Mingda’s little face turned angry, and she said angrily, “Big Brother the Crown Prince is too much.”

Manbao shook her head even more sadly, saying, “It wasn’t from sparring with His Highness that he fractured it; it happened when Prince Gong kicked the table.”

Mingda and Changyu: …

Only then did Mingda recall that earlier this morning, Third Brother had still walked up from the mountain gate with them.

An injury to the muscles and bones is quite serious at this ti. Mingda was very worried, “What should we do, will Third Brother be crippled in the future?”

Manbao said, “I checked, the bone hasn’t misaligned, and the fracture isn’t severe. As long as he doesn’t move around unnecessarily in the next two months, he won’t be crippled. He will definitely recover to how he was before, just as he is now.”

To be safe, Manbao even spent points to have Keke perform a detailed scan. The broken section of the bone hadn’t misaligned, and it was partially fused. But if he moves too much, the bone would definitely break and misalign.

Manbao earnestly looked at Mingda and Changyu and said, “In a mont, you need to comfort Prince Gong and remind him to be careful, otherwise it could really cause a limp.”

Mingda nodded, her face pale.

The two imdiately went in to see Prince Gong, while Manbao instructed the palace servants to find so wooden boards as she needed to immobilize Prince Gong’s leg and treat him once he’s transported back to the palace.

She didn’t have enough dicine on hand.

Once everyone had left, Bai Shan glanced at the two princesses talking with Prince Gong in the room, and quietly asked Manbao, “Why did Prince Gong lose his composure so much?”

Manbao anxiously twisted her hands and whispered, “The Crown Prince and I both provoked him. I never expected that usually cunning and tolerant Prince Gong would explode all of a sudden.”

He exploded, but got injured as well.

Being angry at most harms the liver and spirit, which are internal issues invisible to anyone but an imperial doctor.

But an outward injury is different. Manbao said, “I can already imagine how severe the punishnt I will receive when we return to the capital.”

Bai Shan also beca worried. Prince Gong’s leg didn’t break sooner or later, but right under Manbao’s care. Whether she was at fault or not, she couldn’t escape the bla for negligence.

Bai Shan took a discreet look inside the room and whispered, “Before the bla deepens, try to calm Prince Gong’s anger a bit, at least so he won’t report your errors when returning to the capital.”

A sorrowful look spread across Manbao’s face, “How can I do that? We’ve always been at odds. The person I angered earlier—do you think I can pacify them now?”

Bai Shan frowned, thought for a mont, and then shook his head, “Impossible.”

Manbao was almost in tears. This was indeed the biggest mistake since becoming an imperial doctor. Teacher Mo was right: as a doctor, maintaining good relations with patients is essential. If not, remain impartial and only do what needs to be done.

She faced today’s troubles because she did what she shouldn’t have, acted with bias.

Bai Shan, seeing her deanor, sighed and said, “Let’s treat his injury first. Don’t irritate him for the next two days, and I’ll arrange for the imperial guard to prepare a carriage for Prince Gong.”

Reconciliation being impossible, they could only try to minimize Prince Gong’s potential aggravation in the coming days.

Fortunately, they still had two days left. Perhaps by then, his anger would have subsided sowhat?

Bai Erlang scratched his head on the side and asked, “What were Crown Prince and Prince Gong arguing about earlier to make it escalate like that?”

Bai Shan also looked at Manbao.

Manbao sighed softly and explained briefly the earlier incident, then said, “I noticed the Crown Prince was very angry. He seed to be scolding himself rather than Prince Gong. I wonder what ca to his mind.”

Bai Shan beca thoughtful and reassured Manbao, “You go treat Prince Gong first; I’ll go arrange the carriage.”

Manbao nodded sadly. Noticing Bai Erlang went along with Bai Shan, she let out a deep sigh and turned to face Prince Gong inside.

Prince Gong had already cald sowhat and told his two sisters, “It’s nothing serious. It’s a rare opportunity to leave the palace; you should take the chance to enjoy yourselves.”

Changyu, having grown up receiving care from Prince Gong, began to cry upon hearing this and held his hand, saying, “Third Brother, let’s stay here with you.”

Prince Gong was obviously not eager for their company. Having them around ant he had to endure the pain in silence, but without them, he could express his discomfort more freely without worry.

So he strongly opposed, saying to Mingda, who was teary-eyed, “You’re not in the best health, and this outing is ant to relax you. It’s not a serious injury; you should go have fun.”

After saying this, he glanced at Zhou Man, gritting his teeth, “Besides, isn’t Imperial Doctor Zhou here?”

Mingda and Changyu turned to look at Manbao.

Manbao was contemplating how to treat Prince Gong’s injury and, seeing the three of them looking at her, nodded and said, “You go enjoy yourselves; I will take care of Prince Gong.”

Mingda hesitated for a mont before getting up.

Manbao then went out with them and said to two trembling eunuchs standing nearby, “I need to prepare so things, co out, and I’ll instruct you on what to get.”

The two eunuchs didn’t dare look at Prince Gong, and followed Manbao out imdiately.

Manbao took Mingda aside and asked, “Do you need additional hands? Would you like to take these two eunuchs with you?”

Mingda glanced over; these were the junior eunuchs reassigned to the harem after Third Brother’s confinent. She seldom saw them, possibly because they were only employed to run errands.

She wasn’t sure what had transpired inside, but with the situation being what it was and Manbao refusing them entrance, it indicated a poor condition for Third Brother.

If it were Big Brother the Crown Prince, she wouldn’t worry too much; even if they witnessed his undignified monts, they would rely be reassigned to another palace. But for Third Brother…

They might just find excuses to deal with them.

Mingda, always ticulous and considerate, saw the plea in Manbao’s eyes and sighed before nodding, “Third Brother is injured and needs dependable people around. I’ll reassign two from my side; these two can take my orders until then.”

Manbao breathed a sigh of relief, clasping Mingda’s hand, “Thank you so much.”

Mingda laughed, “There’s no need for that.”

She paused montarily, as if a thought struck her, holding Manbao’s hand, “Once we’re back in the palace, let’s go see Father together.”

Manbao pondered it before shaking her head, “Better not. If you go along, His Majesty might get even angrier.”
