Capítulo 2090: Chapter 2065: Arrangents

Such matters as transferring people from the capital must naturally be brought to Yang Heshu.

Yang Heshu pondered for a mont before agreeing, and thus once again sent a docunt to the capital.

The official ssenger took the docunt and hurriedly rode to the capital, eting the convoy from the Imperial Hospital at the courier station that evening.

Upon hearing that he would return to the capital to transfer people, Imperial Doctor Lu was stunned, “Why transfer more people?”

The official ssenger replied, “There are too many patients, and not enough doctors.”

Imperial Doctor Lu beca worried.

As they traveled along the way, each county had begun closing its city gates, with many checkpoints set up on the official roads. The closer they got to Xiazhou, the worse the situation beca.

Imperial orders from the capital went out ahead of Zhou Man and the others, but when Zhou Man and the others passed, the various states and counties had not organized properly yet. However, they seed to have good luck; just after they passed, the various states and counties took action.

In contrast, Imperial Doctor Lu and the others were frequently searched along the way. Fortunately, they were traveling from the north to the south, while those heading from the north were scrutinized more severely. Anyone with a fever or pox outbreak was imdiately treated nearby and taken to supervised dical tents outside the city.

Imperial Doctor Lu and the others had once gone in for a look during their journey and left several prescriptions and treatnt thods before departing.

So states and counties tried to forcefully buy the dicines they carried. However, Imperial Doctor Lu had a bad temper, and since these were ant for Xiazhou City, they could not succeed.

But even so, Imperial Doctor Lu remained ntally exhausted during this ti, causing their journey to be slower than planned.

He glanced at the two large bundles beside the official ssenger, frowned, and asked, “Transmitting urgent orders, why carry such large bundles?”

Official ssenger: “These are items entrusted by Imperial Doctor Zhou to be taken ho to her family.”

Imperial Doctor Lu imdiately asked, “What items?”

He said, “Items from the epidemic area should not be taken out of the city carelessly.”

The two officials imdiately replied, “It’s just letters, including letters to ho as well as so to the Imperial Hospital and classmates, quite a few. Imperial Doctor Zhou said to hand them all to her family so they could deliver them.”

In fact, not only that, but there were also so dicines that she had sorted and instructed Zhou Liru and Liu Sanniang to give to the intended recipients.

Unfortunately, she couldn’t find the smallpox vaccine before leaving the capital; otherwise, it would have been best to give it to them nearby.

Only then did Imperial Doctor Lu stop asking, but he reminded them, “When passing the checkpoint, it’s best to loudly declare that it’s an urgent report from Xiazhou City to pass through easily.”

The official ssenger did not understand, but realized the aning the next day.

Dejing County had also closed its city gates, with barriers set at several official road intersections, strictly checking anyone coming from the north. Along the way, they encountered many people returning to the north and saw so directly entering the forest before reaching the checkpoints, seemingly trying to bypass and head south.

The officials did not intervene. Snow had just fallen a few days ago; the forests were not easy to enter.

Not to ntion the potential presence of tigers and bears, even the cold could freeze a person to death, not to ntion the fact that it’s easy to get lost inside.

Even the officials raised by the court did not dare to take shortcuts through the forests at this ti.

At the checkpoint, they shouted “Urgent report from Xiazhou City” as they passed, causing the guards to retreat, keeping a ten-step distance. They didn’t even have to dismount as the guards released them after taking a distant look at the red stamp on the docunt.

Official ssenger A couldn’t help but joyfully say, “Imperial Doctor Lu was right, it really works well.”

Official ssenger B scoffed, “Is this so kind of good thing? Let’s hurry up; we need to reach the capital within five days.”

anwhile, Manbao was seeing off the first patient to recover after arriving at the villa, watching as they were escorted ho before turning back to see the newly admitted patients.

After Bai Shan took over, he found that during this period, not many new patients from wealthy families were admitted, so he began rearranging the rooms to have them primarily surround the main courtyard.

The reason was considerate: on the west side, Imperial Doctor Zhou would mostly be in the main courtyard as Madam Yang was there.

On the east side, not only were Doctor Jin, Doctor Hua, and Assistant Doctor Lu’s attention mainly focused on the main courtyard, but even Zhou Man would first visit the main courtyard for consultations when she ca over.

Thus, patients who were initially reluctant to move rooms imdiately volunteered to do so, freeing up so peripheral courtyards.

Bai Shan ordered so wooden beds to be made and removed the screens inside, placing two to four additional beds in each room.

Then, using the patient roster from the County Governntal Office, he began selecting patients to be brought in from the lists.

Those patients had been previously arranged in dical tents and didn’t find the ten beds per room crowded upon being brought to the villa, in fact felt spacious, expressing imnse gratitude.

Most of the patients selected had family mbers taking care of them, but for those without family nearby, he arranged for them to stay together and care for one another.

Thus, patients began appearing among those going to the front hall to collect dicine.

Luckily, the patients living near the main courtyard rooms generally didn’t leave, remaining bedridden, oblivious to the changes outside.

The maids and Xiaos were aware, but under Bai Shan’s smiling warning and Bai Cheng’s diation, they refrained from speaking out.

When Yang Heshu ca after finishing a day of official duties, he couldn’t help but smile upon seeing so many ordinary people among the patients admitted to the villa, asking Bai Shan, “Did Doctor Jin and the others have any objections?”

“There were complaints, but I apologized,” Bai Shan said, “The situation at the dical tents is even more severe, and we have too few doctors on hand, so this was the only option.”

Both Doctor Jin and Doctor Hua, who had just started feeling a bit relaxed, were surprised to find Bai Shan packing more patients into the villa, nearly doubling the previous number.

The two of them felt dizzy, yet seeing Bai Shan’s face full of guilt and worry for the patients, they couldn’t speak in anger.

Especially when he looked at the corridor as if intending to line the hallway with beds too; they imdiately refrained from speaking up, turning to attend to the new patients.

Manbao was also busy, so when Bai Shan brought in so many patients, she simply went to the east courtyard and brought Assistant Doctor Lu over. He was able to diagnose and prescribe even if he couldn’t perform acupuncture.

The front hall was also very busy, continuously preparing dicine from start to finish, with long queues persisting.

Bai Shan opened an additional station, occasionally stepping in alongside Bai Erlang to help.

Both Bai Shan and Bai Erlang were sowhat familiar with most herbs, which were labeled with nas on the dicine cabinets, although at first, their speed was slower.

Since the symptoms were uniform, the prescription drugs varied only slightly in dosage or composition, yet the herbs used were similar. After grabbing twenty or so prescriptions, they beca proficient, especially Bai Shan, who sotis found the herbs even before Bai Erlang finished ntioning the na…

The pharmacy assistant working alongside him felt conflicted inside; were scholars really this smart?

Manbao examined Third Mrs. Gong’s pox condition, felt her pulse, and said, “No new pox has appeared today, wait another two days. If none appear by then, you’re considered cured. Once the pox disappears, you can go ho.”

Third Mrs. Gong was surprised and thrilled, “Does this an I’m cured?”

Manbao nodded, “Almost.”

Looking at the masked Manbao, Third Mrs. Gong couldn’t contain her gratitude and grabbed Manbao’s hand, smiling, “Once I’m better, I must invite Imperial Doctor Zhou to try Xiazhou City’s lamb scorpions. Lord Yang hasn’t been here long, unaware they are the best-tasting.”
