My eyes skimd the sa sentence for the tenth ti, but none of the words made it into my brain. I pushed the book away and dragged a hand down my face. I was supposed to be in school today. We all were. But I couldn’t do it. Not with my head this ssed up.

Ever since that night, the night the mate bond snapped into place, nothing has been the sa. My mind hasn’t been the sa. My damn wolf hasn’t shut up about her once.

We spent the whole weekend at her bedside after she collapsed. She’s been sick, weak, barely able to sit up without trembling. She kept begging us to stay longer, but we finally left her last night even though it clearly upset her. And honestly? I do feel bad. Linda has always been good to us. Sweet, loyal, supportive. We all thought one of us, maybe even all three, would end up mated to her.

So strong it nearly knocked the air out of my lungs.

My wolf snarled inside , pacing frantically.

Our mate is in danger. Move. Move now. Save her.

I pressed my palms against the desk, trying to calm the rising frenzy.

“It’s nothing,” I muttered. “She’s probably fine. You’re just acting up.”

But the panic only intensified. My wolf growled so loudly in my mind it was almost painful.

Save her. Renzo, save her now.

My heart was beating too fast. I couldn’t sit still anymore. I shot to my feet and stord out of the room.

The mont I swung the door open, I collided with Ryder and Ronan in the hallway. Both of them looked pale, tense, eyes glowing faintly.

“You felt it too?” Ronan’s voice was sharp.

“Jade is in danger,” Ryder said, breath uneven.

My throat tightened.

So it wasn’t just .

This wasn’t so ridiculous overreaction from my wolf.

This was real.

“Where is she right now?” I demanded.

“Probably in school,” Ronan replied.

I turned to Ryder. “Get the car key.”

He didn’t ask questions, just sprinted down the hall. In seconds he was back, tossing the keys.

We bolted out of the house, piled into the car, and I floored the gas pedal the mont Ryder’s door clicked shut.

My grip tightened around the wheel.

It’s not like I’m worried about her.

I am not.

I hate her.

I’ve hated her for years.

She’s everything I never wanted in a mate.

She’s a liar, a betrayer, a cunning slut.

But she can’t die. Not now. Not before she pays for betraying us. Not before I decide what to do with her. She doesn’t get to escape that easily.

We screeched into the school parking lot, barely stopping before all three of us jumped out. We didn’t even bother closing the car doors. Students stared after us, whispering, confused.

We didn’t care.

We followed her scent, sweet, warm, familiar, and it led us straight to the training ground. My pulse hamred harder with every step.

Then we saw her.

Blood everywhere.

Deep claw marks slashed across her chest.

My entire world stopped.

“Jade!!!!” Ronan’s roar ripped through the air.

Ryder was already running, dropping to his knees beside her limp body and screaming at her not to dare die on him.

My wolf howled inside , a sound of pure anguish.

Jade was loosing consciousness and bleeding out right in front of and yet, I couldn’t bring my muscles to move.

I stood transfixed as a ringing sound echoed in my head and the world blurred around for a mont.
