Now reading: Chapter 38: Manager Xiao Feng from The Magnificent Son-in-law, a Action novel by Rain sounds during the hours of midnight.

The bustling Jiangcheng at night is even busier than during the day, and the expressions on people's faces are less anxious and worried.

After a long day's work, everyone wants to take this ti to relax, have a few drinks with three or five friends, or go out with their partner for a stroll.

Xiao Feng followed Du Qingyue into an international shopping market, soon arriving at an upscale-looking n's clothing store. The sales assistant greeted them with a full smile: "Hello, are you here to buy clothes for your boyfriend? Miss, you have great taste, our store..."

The words were interrupted by Du Qingyue: "He's not my boyfriend."

The sales assistant's enthusiasm visibly waned, and when they looked at Xiao Feng again, their warmth had lessened considerably.

In this line of work, everyone is as shrewd as a fox, starting to observe carefully from the mont a custor walks in, judging from their attire, conversation, manners, and even personal deanor, to determine whether the custor has money and belongs to which level of social hierarchy.

Based on these judgnts, they then employ different scripts and attitudes.

In the eyes of the sales assistant, Xiao Feng was undoubtedly at the bottom of society, wearing nothing brand-na from head to toe. Although he was decent-looking, good looks hadn't been in short supply in recent years.

Good looks aren't as useful as having money.

"Sir, we only have designer brands here. The cheapest shirt starts at over a thousand yuan..." The sales assistant said listlessly, leaving the unspoken aning quite clear.

If you don't intend to buy, then you can leave.

Xiao Feng was not upset by this attitude; instead, he smilingly reached into his pocket, took out a business card, and handed it over.

The sales assistant frowned slightly, took the card, and saw it read: Lanyue Group Manager, Xiao Feng.

Below were the office phone number and work email.

Behind him, Du Qingyue opened her mouth but ultimately said nothing. She couldn't understand why Xiao Feng, who was in charge of logistics, would have business cards printed.

Little did she know, Xiao Feng printing business cards was a coincidence.

When he had delivered a banner to Song Keren earlier, they announced a promotion, offering a free set of business cards with a custom banner.

Xiao Feng, thinking there was no harm in taking advantage, printed a hundred cards for himself, which now ca in handy.

As it turned out, Lanyue Group did hold so influence in Jiangcheng.

After seeing the business card, the sales assistant instantly brightened up, switched expressions, and courteously said, "Oh, you're a manager at Lanyue Group, my mistake, my mistake."

Although there was still so suspicion within the sales assistant about Xiao Feng's manager identity, this didn't stop them from wanting to make money off him.

In the sales assistant's mind, whether Xiao Feng was a manager or not was irrelevant, as long as he bought clothes.

"This one, this one, and this one." Xiao Feng pointed out pieces generously and finally said, "Pack up this entire row for . You think I can't afford it? Today I'll show you what it ans to be rich!"

Du Qingyue looked helpless. She had ford her own judgnt in the days spent with Xiao Feng, concluding that the sales assistant was going to be unlucky.

By now, the sales assistant was utterly shocked, looking incredulously at Xiao Feng—was he treating this like a wholesale market? Entire rows?

Xiao Feng complained, "What are you standing there for? Pack them up."

The sales assistant snapped back to reality: "Wouldn't you like to try them on first to see if they fit?"

"You just don't understand how we rich people think," Xiao Feng said smugly, "when it cos to buying things, it's all about comfort. Who cares if it fits or not? If it doesn't, it can always be used as a rag."

"Okay, okay!" The sales assistant nodded eagerly, grinning from ear to ear.

This deal, at a conservative estimate, would bring in more than fifty thousand in commission, roughly equal to a year's salary.

In a flurry of activity, the sales assistant packed each clothing item, feeling suddenly enlightened. No wonder trainers said to mock those who looked penniless and not to be too courteous.

Because eventually, there are only two outcos: either the people coming in truly have no money, aning the sale won't happen.

Or they are secretly wealthy, and those people love being underestimated, only to then display their wealth in a crushing manner, just like in stories where soone plays the fool before revealing themselves.

Both outcos benefit the store.

In fact, this thod does work in most situations.

But clearly, Xiao Feng was not your average person, and even the most advanced tactics were useless against him.

Half an hour later, the sales assistant, sweating profusely, finally packed all the clothes Xiao Feng wanted. Looking at the store, about a third of it was empty, which imbued her with a sense of accomplishnt.

She couldn't help but imagine how her colleagues would react when they saw her the next day—just the thought excited her deeply!

"All packed?" Xiao Feng asked with a playful smile.

The sales assistant hurried over, nodding repeatedly: "All packed. Just tell where, and I'll find a vehicle to deliver it. The shipping cost is on ."

"That's very kind of you!" Xiao Feng nodded with satisfaction and then waved to Du Qingyue, "Let's go."

Du Qingyue was initially stunned but then quickly realized what was happening. Turned around and followed Xiao Feng out, she felt sowhat that it was excessive of Xiao Feng to treat soone like this, but still, there was a sense of gratifying justice deep inside.

It took the sales assistant a full five seconds to react, imdiately calling to Xiao Feng, who had already reached the store entrance: "Wait, shouldn't you pay first?"

"Pay?" Xiao Feng replied in bewildernt, "We didn't buy anything; why should we pay you?"

"I've packed all these clothes, and now you plan not to take them?" The sales assistant snapped in exasperation, rushing towards the store entrance as if fearing Xiao Feng would escape.

Xiao Feng calmly stated, "I asked you to pack them, but did I ever say I would buy them?"

The sales assistant's face turned blue and white with anger, but after a mont's reflection, it was indeed just as the other said—he only ntioned packing the clothes and never purchasing them.

But, for heaven's sake, was that even necessary to say?!

It's like needing to bring toilet paper to the restroom—it's common knowledge!

However, if he did say that out loud, Xiao Feng would likely retort: It's possible you've never been to India, where people don't need paper for such things at all.

The more the sales assistant thought about it, the angrier they beca, gritting their teeth and saying, "You are not going anywhere today; just wait!"
