Now reading: Chapter 629: Climbing the Mountain Again from The Magnificent Son-in-law, a Action novel by Rain sounds during the hours of midnight.

Lin Zhiyan clenched her fists, her delicate body trembling as if desperately restraining her emotions, preventing them from losing control and leading to irrational actions.

Beside her feet, there were small patches of moisture on the ground, the result of sweat squeezed from her palms.

At this mont, a snapping sound suddenly rang out.

"Crack!"

The originally motionless Lin Jiaxuan suddenly turned her head to the side.

"Jiaxuan!"

Lin Zhiyan cried out hoarsely and rushed over recklessly, trying to wake her sister by shaking her.

Everyone present changed their expressions.

The saying goes, "those inside the situation are confused, those outside see clearly."

Lin Zhiyan might not realize at that mont that her actions were jeopardizing her sister's survival.

Yet it was too late to stop her; Lin Zhiyan's speed was simply too fast!

Just as she was about to touch Lin Jiaxuan, she suddenly felt a pain in her neck, and everything went black before she lost consciousness.

Xiao Feng carried the unconscious Lin Zhiyan to a nearby bed, placed her down, and covered her with a blanket before returning.

Everyone breathed a sigh of relief; it was truly a close call. Had Xiao Feng been even half a second slower, everything would have been irreparable.

"What now?" Xiao Feng looked at Sun Shijie.

Professional matters must be handled by professionals.

"There's no targeted thod; I can only do my best," Sun Shijie said solemnly. "There's ginseng soup simring on the stove in the kitchen. Help bring the dicine over and give it to her first."

Ginseng is usually used to restore vitality after a major illness, but it also serves another purpose: to sustain life.

Only by preserving life can we talk about the future; otherwise, no matter how miraculous the dical skills are, they're like ballet dancing on a chopping board—there's no room to perform.

The young girl and Lu Yao imdiately moved to bring the ginseng soup, carefully feeding it to Lin Jiaxuan, whose complexion finally showed a slight hint of rosiness.

"Bring paper and pen," Sun Shijie instructed.

The young girl ran to her bed and retrieved a notebook and pen from under her pillow, handing them over.

Sun Shijie took them, writing down one dicinal na after another, then tore the paper and set it aside.

Zhao Guo'an glanced curiously, then inhaled sharply: "Hiss..."

"What's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?" Zhen Jinghan quickly supported him, asking with concern.

Zhao Guo'an shook his head, indicating he was fine, then said to Sun Shijie, "Old man, with such a thod of supplentation, it wouldn't just be humans—even elephants couldn't withstand it."

"In terms of dication, my school is more knowledgeable than you," Sun Shijie said lightly, then rolled up his sleeve, grabbing a piece of skin and tearing it off forcefully.

"Rip!"

Like removing a plaster, everyone then realized that Sun Shijie had a fake skin adhered to his arm.

And beneath the fake skin was a familiar-looking key.

Sun Shijie handed the key and the paper with the list of dicinal ingredients to Xiao Feng, "Go up the mountain as quickly as possible and bring back these herbs."

He thought for a mont, then added, "Don't exceed two hours at the longest; ginseng can only sustain life once in a short ti, any more and it won't work."

Xiao Feng nodded, took the key and paper, and dashed out the door.

The people inside watched as Sun Shijie reattached the fake skin, wanting to remind him that this thod of hiding things had beco outdated.

In the old society, this thod was certainly relatively safe.

Because most people hide things either in a very secretive place or carry them personally.

But Sun Shijie's thod is such that even stripping him naked would make it hard to discover where he hid things.

However, since tis have progressed, now even without any infrared scan, a tal detector at security checks could detect it.

But given that saving lives was the priority, no one brought up this trivial matter.

...

After getting out of the taxi, Xiao Feng directly scaled the wall to reach the backyard of Anping Temple.

"Bang!"

His form landed stably.

As he landed, the rear windows of Hui Yi and others' dormitory suddenly opened, and figures with bare torsos jumped out.

"Brother Feng?"

Upon seeing it was Xiao Feng, everyone let down their guard, though they were a bit puzzled why Xiao Feng would co at this ti.

"No ti for idle talk, I'm here for matters with you all; follow back to the small bamboo house at the rear mountain as fast as possible!" Xiao Feng said concisely.

Hui Yi asked, "Are we going to fight?"

"No, collect a few things," Xiao Feng replied casually.

Hui Yi sighed with relief, "That's good, that's good, everyone listens to the boss, hurry and put on pants and go up the mountain."

Xiao Feng thought, just one thin pair of pants, whether you wear it or not, what difference does it make.

But it didn't matter for those few minutes, and once the Martial Monks had dressed and co out, the group started heading up the mountain.

"Brother Feng, you just said to go up the mountain as fast as possible, right?" Hui Wu asked.

Xiao Feng pondered, "Correct."

Hui Wu smiled, "Then I'll go up first."

Saying this, he jumped, grabbed a protruding rock, and alternated his arms to exert force, beginning to climb using only his hands.

The others were unwilling to lag behind, following suit with hands and feet.

If Lin Zhiyan were present, she would understand that the last ti the ascent was slow was actually because she held them back.

These Martial Monks have been climbing for over a decade, honing abilities that are not false; without taking the mountain paths, directly climbing up sped things up by not just a few tis.

With no choice, Xiao Feng had to summon the courage to follow, but his speed was quite a bit slower than that of the Martial Monks.

In less than fifteen minutes, Xiao Feng and the others successfully reached the peak.

Of course, this was a very risky way to ascend; without protection, a slip or misstep could lead to severe injury if not death.

It was a severe test of arm and leg strength.

After reaching the top, Xiao Feng didn't pause, imdiately heading into the bamboo sea following marks made on his previous descent.

"Boss, have you t little Hua Ling?" Hui Yi asked while walking.

Xiao Feng nodded, "t her, she said she's your junior sister."

"You two didn't fight, right?" Hui Yi continued to ask.

"We did fight; she insisted on having you guys help her, I disagreed, so we started fighting."

"Who won? Who won?"

The dozen people followed, their expressions filled with curiosity.

Xiao Feng thought for a bit and said, "It was a draw; after all, she's your junior sister. I wouldn't show no rcy to a child for the sake of the monks and the Buddha."

While saying this, Xiao Feng's face didn't flush or heart miss a beat, his expression and tone carried an indescribable credibility, as if what he said was indeed the truth.

Those behind, upon hearing Xiao Feng managed to hold his own against Hua Ling, imdiately started showering him with praise.

"Brother Feng, you're incredible!"

"Brother Feng, you're simply my idol!"

"Brother Feng, next ti no need to show leniency; don't be fooled by Hua Ling's small stature—she's clever and often ca up with mischievous plots to trick us, feel free to take her down."
