Xiao Feng brought the little girl to the Grandma Fang's house as the young girl had said. As soon as they reached the third floor, they slled a faint odor of chicken droppings.
They exchanged a glance, and were about seventy to eighty percent sure they found the right place.
However, before they could knock on the door, they saw a woman in her fifties carrying a grocery basket coming up the stairs.
Seeing two strangers at her doorstep, the woman did not hurry to open the door, but asked, "Who are you looking for?"
"We're looking for Grandma Fang," the little girl replied sweetly.
"Oh, Grandma Fang, she's at the house at the end." The woman pointed while continuing, "Everything about Grandma Fang is nice, except she likes to raise chickens and ducks at ho, and she even used to keep geese.
Later, those geese used to honk into the night, making it hard for everyone to sleep. We talked to her for ages before she agreed to sell the geese.
Oh right, are you relatives of Grandma Fang?"
Xiao Feng pondered and said, "Sort of."
"Oh, then go look for Grandma Fang," the woman said casually, then opened the door to her own ho to go inside and cook.
"Xiao Feng brother, do you think Xiaoxiang Zhu might already be in the pot at this mont?" the little girl couldn't help but worry.
Xiao Feng laughed and said, "It's hard to say."
"If we don't find it, or if Xiaoxiang Zhu has already been turned into chicken soup, how do you plan to explain to Hua Ling?"
"What is there to explain?" Xiao Feng asked back, "It ran off by itself; it's not like I chased it away. Even if it does turn into chicken soup, it's not like I was the one wielding the knife."
"But Hua Ling won't see it like that at all. She'll definitely spin it into a huge drama, and it's not impossible that she'll try to take advantage of us," the little girl replied.
"What exactly are you trying to say?"
"Ahem, I think... solving the problem itself isn't the key; we can solve the people causing the problem, right?" The little girl blinked, with an expression that said, "You know what I an."
Xiao Feng furrowed his brow slightly and muttered, "Can't solve the problem? Then solve the people causing the problem... Shihan, you're a little genius!"
As he finished saying this, a light sparked in his eyes.
"Hehe, of course!" The little girl laughed proudly, "Xiao Feng brother, we should leave now."
"Leave?" Xiao Feng looked puzzled, "Where to?"
"To deal with Hua Ling, of course. When we catch that little rascal, I won't say a word, just whip her until she submits!" The little girl said eagerly.
Xiao Feng shook his head with a smile, "That's not what I ant; your words just reminded of sothing."
"Oh." The little girl looked disappointed, thinking that she'd need to rely on her own strength to deal with Hua Ling after all.
Arriving at Grandma Fang's door, Xiao Feng stopped the little girl who wanted to step forward and knock, reaching out to place the bell by the door and shake it.
"Ding ling ling, ding ling ling, ding ling ling..."
After shaking it for a while, Xiao Feng and the little girl pressed their ears to the door, and soon heard so noises inside.
"This ti I'll deal with you! Run again, and I'll chop you up for soup right away!"
An old female voice ca through with anger.
Xiao Feng stepped back two paces and continued to ring the bell.
"Ding ling ling, ding ling ling, ding ling ling..."
This ti, the commotion inside grew louder; it sounded like soone was fighting inside, with occasional shouting thrown in.
"Knock on the door." Xiao Feng said calmly.
"Okay!" The little girl responded, took a step back, and reached out to knock on the door.
"Dong dong dong!"
"Who is it?" an angry voice called out.
Soon, footsteps approached, the door inside the security door opened, revealing an elderly woman who looked around seventy, slightly stooped.
The old woman had silver hair, her face covered with wrinkles like the bark of a withered tree. Her countenance seed kind, but she was currently frowning deeply.
"You've got the wrong place, right?" The old woman looked at the little girl, then at Xiao Feng, and asked.
"No mistake, no mistake." The little girl smiled and asked, "Are you Grandma Fang?"
The old woman paused and nodded, "Yes, are you from the community coming to visit lonely elderly?"
The little girl shook her head and then explained her purpose, "My pet was brought inside by you, could you return it to us?"
"Pet?" Grandma Fang turned to look back and said, "I've never kept cats or dogs; there's no pet at ho."
The little girl took out her phone, held it up to the grille window on the security door, stepped back a bit, and said, "My pet is not a cat or a dog; it's a chick with very pretty feathers."
Inside, Grandma Fang imdiately beca agitated, "It's yours?"
While speaking, she angrily opened the door, pointing inside with rage, "Look what it has turned my ho into!"
Xiao Feng and the little girl looked inside, only to see the living room was as ssy as a junk heap, with chicken feathers everywhere, and chicken feces on the sofa and coffee table.
At that mont, Xiaoxiang Zhu was chasing several chickens, sotis jumping onto the TV, other tis fluttering its wings into the ceiling; what a chaotic scene!
Grandma Fang was furious, picked up a broom from behind the door, and swung it at Xiaoxiang Zhu, but it was of no use, she couldn't hit it at all.
"Grandma Fang, you shouldn't let poultry roam freely in the house." The little girl said speechlessly.
"Who let them roam freely?" Grandma Fang retorted, "Co in; let show you the ss your pet has caused."
Xiao Feng and the little girl entered, closing the door behind them, crossing through the mayhem created by the chickens flying everywhere, arriving at Grandma Fang's balcony.
The balcony was enclosed, with three chicken coops stacked in the corner, all with open doors, and the one in the middle was deford, bulging outwards, clearly broken from the inside.
This morning I went to the market to buy groceries, saw your pet by chance, thought it looked pitiful and brought it back to raise. But who knew, soon after putting it in the coop, it broke it open.
That's not all; it released the other chickens I was raising, and has been chasing them around madly indoors ever since.
I ask you, are you raising a chicken or an eagle?" Grandma Fang said indignantly.
"Don't joke; how could an eagle look like this?" The little girl chuckled ruefully, "It's wild, so it's very different from a dostic chicken.
How about this, I apologize on behalf of our pet for causing trouble.
Anyway, you can't control it here; why not let us take it back directly?"
"Just an apology?" Grandma Fang said displeased, "Can't you see the ss here? And what if our chickens won't lay eggs because of the fright it's given them all morning?"
"Then what do you suggest?" Xiao Feng asked.
Grandma Fang said expressionlessly, "Don't think that because I'm old, I'll try to exploit you. Just find soone to clean up the place, and compensate anything broken at original price; I don't need any emotional distress fees.
This old woman has seen quite a lot today; at my age, it's the first ti seeing soone keep a chicken as a pet, especially one capable enough to break a coop."
