The Mind-Reading Mate: Why Is the Lycan King So Obsessed With Me? Chapter 100: The Queen’s Rare Gems (II)
When sunlight filtered through the greenhouse glass ceiling, she purposefully placed her hand beneath the beam so the Celestine Heart Stone would catch the light and sparkle brilliantly.
It took a while, but eventually, the others began to notice the ring on her hand.
Arabella was the first to comnt internally. [Is she showing off? The ring is beautiful, but isn’t that just a ruby? I have plenty of diamond rings at ho.]
A ruby?
Primrose might not have been the one who pulled the Celestine Heart Gem from the abyss herself, but it still stung to hear such a rare gem compared to an ordinary ruby.
"Your ring is so beautiful, Your Majesty," Mirelle finally said aloud, voicing what had clearly been on everyone’s mind. "Is that a ruby? I’ve seen many ruby rings in jewelry stores, but this is the first ti I’ve seen one shine this brightly."
Primrose touched her ring, pretending to be surprised when soone finally noticed the beautiful gem on her finger. "Oh, this? This isn’t a ruby," she said, lowering her head and letting out a soft, shy giggle like soone overwheld with joy.
"My husband told this is called the Celestine Heart Gem. Honestly, I don’t really know much about it, but the ring looked so beautiful that I believed he gave sothing truly special."
Brielle, who was just about to take another bite of her pastry, abruptly set it back down on her plate a little too hard, causing the table to rattle. "C-Celestine Heart Gem?!" she gasped, completely forgetting about proper manners. "Are you certain that’s what it is?"
Primrose leaned back, startled. Of all the ladies present, she hadn’t expected Brielle to react the most dramatically. "M-My husband said so," she stamred. "D-Do you think His Majesty would lie to ?"
Without waiting for permission, Mirelle grabbed Primrose’s wrist and pulled her hand closer to inspect the ring up close.
Her cheerful expression vanished, replaced with one of intense focus.
"I-I can’t believe it," she whispered, then exclaid as she raised Primrose’s hand in the air, "This is the real Celestine Heart Gem! I saw it once, a long ti ago, but I’m certain, this is the real thing!"
She rose up from her chair so quickly she nearly knocked the table over. "Oh, heavens! Your Majesty, this gem is incredibly rare and nearly impossible to find!" she cried out.
Arabella, who had been dismissing the ring monts ago, sat frozen. It seed the Celestine Heart Gem was a legendary treasure among the beasts, so everyone knew about it so well.
[I ... I thought that gem was just a myth,] Arabella thought bitterly. [Does it actually exist? How dare that human have sothing I don’t have?!]
If she had a problem with it, she should’ve taken it up with Edmund, he was the one who gave it to Primrose.
Primrose tilted her head slightly, feigning innocence. "Is this gem really that rare? I’ve never heard of it before, so I didn’t know."
She gasped softly. "Is this ring that expensive? Oh no ... I didn’t an to accept sothing so extravagant from His Majesty."
She sounded like a sweet, guilty queen who feared being accused of wasting the kingdom’s money, but none of the won there thought that way. Not even the jealous Arabella.
"Expensive?" Brielle said with a shake of her head. "Your Majesty, the gem in your ring isn’t sothing money can buy."
His Majesty must’ve gotten it himself, she thought. Anyone else would’ve died before they could even touch a Celestine Heart Gem. I’ve only ever heard of two people who managed to retrieve one.
"Then ... how does soone even get a ring like this, if it can’t be bought?" Primrose asked quietly.
Raven wiped a few pastry crumbs from the corner of her lips before answering. "To obtain the Celestine Heart Gem, His Majesty would’ve had to jump into the Abyss, a ravine filled with deadly demon beasts."
She continued, "Your Majesty, this gem isn’t sothing you can buy. It’s sothing only earned through determination ... and true feelings."
Mirelle covered her mouth as her eyes filled with tears. "Oh my ... His Majesty must love you deeply, to risk his life diving into that abyss just to get this for you."
Primrose gently placed her hand over her heart, her expression touched and overwheld by what she had just heard. "I ... I didn’t know any of this. My husband gave this ring as our wedding ring."
She swallowed hard and continued softly, "He once told I was too precious for him to give a ring like anyone else’s. I ... I thought he was just being dramatic. I didn’t realize this gem was truly that valuable."
Arabella sneered at her. "Wedding rings? Do you even know that we don’t need such things here?" she said coldly. "A mark is more than enough for us."
[Why did she have to get that wedding ring first?! I’ve been thinking about doing that for ages! If only my husband had given one sooner, I could’ve been the first to start the trend!]
Primrose fell silent.
So that’s what really happened? In her first life, it wasn’t Arabella’s husband who had started the whole romantic gesture, like all the stories said.
It had been Arabella’s idea from the beginning because she wanted to be the first to wear a wedding ring and then tell everyone about her "romantic" husband.
[She completely ruined my plan!] Arabella fud in her head. [If I had been the first to wear a wedding ring, my jewelry shop that’s opening next month would’ve attracted so many more custors!]
Wait, what?
So that heartwarming love story ... was it just a clever way to advertise her business?
Primrose blinked in disbelief.
Was this woman really planning to use her marriage to launch a product?
What a shaless scam!
"I know that, but ..." Primrose bit her lower lip and lowered her head slightly, making her look like a guilty little bunny. "I never asked for a wedding ring," she lied softly. "His Majesty did so research and found out that in my holand, it’s tradition to exchange rings during a wedding."
