After that night, Primrose never got the chance to speak alone with Hazelle again. Silas often kept the young woman busy, asking her to prepare dicine in his private room.

But Primrose knew it was just an excuse.

He didn’t need Hazelle’s help to make dicine, he simply wanted more of her blood to create more poison.

So far, Silas hadn’t slipped anything into Primrose’s food. Maybe it was still too early ... or maybe he was quietly planning sothing else.

He knew about Salem, of course, but only on the surface. As far as Silas was concerned, Salem was just the queen’s food taster, not soone with deep knowledge of poisons.

"It’s been too long," Primrose whispered, resting her arms on the balcony railing, her eyes fixed on the palace gates.

Marielle, who had just poured tea into her cup, suddenly went pale. "Did I take too long to prepare the tea, Your Majesty?"

Primrose glanced at her and shook her head gently. "No, it’s not you." She let out a long sigh. "It’s my husband. He’s been away from the palace for too long. How many days has it been?"

Solene answered softly, "It’s been seven days, Your Majesty."

"A full week," Primrose murmured, clicking her tongue. "I know whatever he’s handling must be important, but still ... he could’ve at least sent a letter if he planned to be gone this long."

It wasn’t like she was worried about him or anything.

But Salem had been grumbling endlessly about not being able to draw her blood yet, and Sevrin had used Edmund’s absence to throw every bit of paperwork and tax law at her.

The royal advisors were clearly taking advantage of Edmund’s absence to tornt her.

Just wait, she would complain the mont her husband returned.

Wait ... why did she sound like so spoiled wife?

Forget it. She was the one who had asked Sevrin to help her beco a proper queen as quickly as possible.

But still, when was her husband coming ho?!

There were things she wanted to ask him. Like which shade of green would look best in her bedroom, or what kind of curtains he preferred in his own.

Even though Edmund had told her she could decorate his room however she wanted, she still wanted to know his opinion.

"Actually, a week isn’t that long, Your Majesty," Solene said. "As far as I rember, it’s normal for His Majesty to leave the palace for months at a ti."

Months?!

If Edmund only ca ho once every few months, he’d probably see her looking older every ti they t.

She knew he rarely ca back, even in her first life, she had only seen her husband a few tis in the palace, and even then, only from a distance because she had been too afraid to approach him.

However, in this lifeti, was it really wrong for Primrose to want to see him more often?

No, it wasn’t because she wanted to be around him all the ti!

She just wanted to gather more information about the kingdom from him! That’s all!

Salem had a point. Sotis, seeing soone briefly hurt more than not seeing them at all.

Hurt? No! Once again, it’s not like she wanted to be with him all the ti!

Not long after, she heard Solene’s thought, [Poor Her Majesty ... she must miss her husband so much.]

No. No, no.

She didn’t miss him!

She just ... wanted him back so she could talk about important things. That was all.

She didn’t miss him at all!

At least ... that’s what she told herself.

Two days later, Primrose heard from the guards that the Lycan King had finally returned to the palace.

She had been walking to the dining room for dinner, but the mont she heard the news, she changed direction—no, she practically ran—straight down the hallway toward the palace entrance.

Her thoughts shouted at her the entire way, "Why are you running?! Seriously, why are you running to him?! Are you that desperate to see him?!"

But her legs didn’t listen.

It felt like her mind was pulling her back with a rope, but her heart and her feet were stronger.

"Husband!" Primrose ca to a stop near the entrance.

Without even realizing it, a smile had already blood on her face. A soft, bright one. The kind a wife might wear when welcoming her husband ho from work.

Alright, she needed to control herself.

Primrose coughed lightly and lifted a fan to cover the lower half of her face, trying to hide her excitent. After calming her heart, she spoke softly, "You’re finally ho."

Maybe it was the wrong words, but Edmund, who had been walking toward her, suddenly froze in place. His thoughts hit Primrose’s mind like a tidal wave.

[Is my wife mad because I was gone too long? No ... is she upset because I left while she was sick?]

[Of course she’s angry at , right? I’m such a failure as a husband. I couldn’t even be there when she needed .]

Here he went again.

Mr. Drama King, worrying too much and jumping to all the wrong conclusions.

But, his overthinking arrived faster than she expected.

"Wife ... I’m sorry I was away for so long." Edmund lowered his head like a guilty puppy who just knocked over a table. "I tried to co back sooner, but ... there were things I had to take care of first."

Primrose finally stepped forward, slowly closing the distance between them. She took a deep breath and lowered her fan.

"I’m not mad at you." She stood right in front of him, lifting her head to et his eyes. "What I ant earlier was ... welco ho, husband."

"I’m glad you returned safely." She smiled gently, though her eyes seed sharp as she added, "But maybe ... next ti, if you’re going to be gone for more than a week, you could send a letter."

He could easily have one of his soldiers deliver a ssage. Royal soldiers were known for their strength and speed, so there was no excuse at all.
