Since they ca here as humble travelers,Primrose didn’t dare step into any shops that looked too luxurious, no matter how much she wanted to.

After nearly three hours of wandering through the capital, she was starting to feel completely worn out. She had walked all that ti, yet it felt like she hadn’t even visited that many vendors.

"Just how long are the streets in this place?" Primrose muttered as she leaned on a bench by the side of the road, rubbing her aching lower back.

Edmund set down their shopping bags and gently helped his wife sit on the long bench.

"The capital is known for having the longest road in all of Noctvaris," he said. "It’s no wonder you’re tired, even though we haven’t even seen half of it yet."

"I can definitely feel that," Primrose sighed loudly the mont she sat.

She stretched out her legs and wiggled her sore toes. Her feet were probably covered in blisters by now after walking so much.

anwhile, her husband looked perfectly fine. He didn’t even drop a sweat on him!

It wasn’t fair at all. Not only did he have long legs, but he also had trendous stamina, sothing Primrose could never hope to match.

How could the world be this cruel to her?

No, forget that. Honestly, the reason she felt this exhausted was probably because she rarely did any physical activity.

Sure, she walked around the palace quite a lot, but compared to this never-ending street, the palace was nothing.

Maybe she really did need to start working out because if she wanted to live a long and happy life with Edmund, she had to take better care of herself.

If she died too young, he’d end up being a lonely widower for way too long.

"Do you want to head back to the palace now?" Edmund asked, watching her closely. "We can go if you’re too tired."

[Maybe it really was a bad idea to bring her out right after we had sex this morning,] Edmund thought to himself. [I should’ve had more self-control next ti.]

To be fair, it wasn’t entirely his fault. She was the one who had promised him that he could touch her this morning.

Besides, it didn’t seem like there was anything wrong with her body, especially since he’d already healed her with his saliva.

So the real culprit here was her terrible stamina and soft, tired legs.

"But we’ve only been out for about three hours," Primrose said quietly, lowering her head and watching her toes wiggle in her shoes. "We might not get another chance to stroll around like this again later."

She had made up her mind to resu her lessons with Sevrin soon.

Edmund actually hoped she’d take a few more days to rest, but she was worried that if she didn’t use her brain again soon, she’d forget everything she’d learned.

"Do you want to heal you?" Edmund asked gently. "I can make your feet feel better."

Primrose frowned. "How? Are you going to kiss them?"

Edmund didn’t respond to her question. He simply stared at her feet in silence, but that look alone made it clear he was actually waiting for that mont.

Why did he look like he was obsessed with her feet, anyway?!

"No, you ... you don’t have to do that." Primrose shook her head quickly. "My feet are dirty now, so no, you can’t kiss them."

[What’s wrong with her feet?] Edmund wondered. [They look clean to .]

Primrose had been walking around the city for three hours, so there’s no way they were clean!

"Maybe you’re right," Primrose said softly. "Maybe it’s better if we go back now."

Because honestly, if she could speak from the heart, she didn’t think she could take another step. If they didn’t return to the palace soon, she might end up limping for the next three days.

[Actually ... I didn’t want to leave just yet either,] Edmund thought with a small sigh of disappointnt. [I was planning to take her to the heart of the capital ... and then climb the 1,000 steps to the Moon Goddess’ temple with her.]

The heart of the capital?

Wait, so they hadn’t even made it there yet?!

Primrose nearly smacked her forehead out of sheer frustration but managed to hold herself back.

Alright, fine. Let’s ignore that part for now.

The more important question was why on earth did her husband want to drag her to the Moon Goddess’ temple of all places?

More importantly, did he just say they had to climb 1,000 stairs to get there?!

Primrose was almost certain that if she attempted to climb that many steps, her feet would literally fall off from her ankles.

Wait ... sothing about that temple sounded familiar.

She vaguely rembered hearing sothing about the "1,000 Steps of the Moon Goddess’ Temple" before.

It seed like one of her ladies-in-waiting had ntioned it in her first life.

What was it again?

Oh, right!

She once told her that if a pair of werewolves or lycans climbed all 1,000 steps barefoot to visit the Moon Goddess’ temple, the goddess would bless their marriage with lifelong happiness and overflowing fortune.

The legend even claid that their souls would keep finding each other, lifeti after lifeti, even if they were reborn a thousand tis.

Back then, Primrose thought it was the most ridiculous thing she’d ever heard and the legend was probably made up by so dreamy teenager in love with the idea of fate.

She wasn’t even sure the Moon Goddess had the power to bind two souls for a thousand lifetis. And besides, what if a couple reincarnated more than a thousand tis? Would their love just expire like spoiled milk?

Yeah, no. That legend definitely sounded like complete bullshit.

To be honest, Primrose had always held a bit of bitterness toward the Moon Goddess.

She had never once set foot in her temple. She had never prayed like the werewolves and lycans did.

And yet, sohow, this "holy" being decided to interfere in her life and write her fate for her.

It wasn’t that she hated Edmund now, not at all. In fact, right now, she didn’t have a single ounce of regret about being with him.
