How could soone as sweet—and as manipulative—as Primrose be considered holy? The Moon Goddess must’ve been drunk if she truly chose Primrose as her holy saintess.

"Ah, I apologize for the inconvenience, Your Majesty," said another priest, Silvan Dawncreast, bowing slightly. "We were just ... overwheld by what you said. You heard the Moon Goddess’ voice without performing any long, sacred rituals."

"Maybe I was just lucky," Primrose replied with a polite smile.

"I don’t think ’lucky’ is the right word to describe your situation, Your Majesty," Elarion said. "Your marriage must be so full of love and happiness that the Moon Goddess was eager to speak to you."

[Yes, yes ... His Majesty has been looking at his wife with so much love this whole ti.]

[I knew it. He truly loves her with all his heart!]

Primrose quietly gritted her teeth. Just monts ago, these sa priests were thinking her husband was so unholy creature filled with lust and perverted thoughts—which, alright, he kind of was—but he was so much more than that.

And now? Now they were praising him endlessly.

Then Edmund suddenly asked sothing that silenced the room.

"Do you think this ans the Moon Goddess won’t separate from my wife?" he said softly. "That maybe ... she’ll grant my wife a long lifespan like mine?"

For a mont, no one said a word, even the priests stopped breathing.

[It’s still impossible for a human to live as long as a beast.]

[The Moon Goddess might have blessed them with a beautiful marriage, but I doubt she’ll extend Her Majesty’s life.]

[The blessing may be a sign they’ll find each other again in the next life.]

But to be honest, Primrose didn’t really care about the next life.

She wanted to be with her husband in this life.

She wanted to see his face grow old, and that could only happen if she was able to live beyond two hundred years.

Besides, if they had children and those kids inherited more of Edmund’s beast blood, wouldn’t that an she’d die before she even saw them grow old?

Now that thought made her feel even more depressed.

"We ... don’t have much to say on that matter, Your Majesty," Elarion finally spoke, clearing his throat.

"Life and death belong to the realm of fate. It’s not sothing we are able to predict. But what I do know is that your bond can never be broken, not even by ti itself."

They bowed slightly before Edmund and Primrose. "Even if death separates you in this life, we believe your souls will find each other again in the next."

Edmund’s shoulders slumped slightly, and Primrose heard him let out a tired sigh.

[What good is the next life,] he thought, [if I could’ve had more ti with her in this one?]

[Maybe I should find a way to shorten my lifespan ... just to match hers.]

What?!

Why would he think like that?!

Most people spent their lives searching for ways to live longer and her husband wanted to find a way to shorten his lifespan?!

[That way ... we can grow old together,] Edmund thought, [so she won’t feel like she’s aging alone.]

Oh ...

[I don’t care about that for myself,] he continued, [but my wife would be so sad if I didn’t have a single wrinkle while her skin slowly lost its youth.]

Primrose was utterly speechless when she heard that.

Without even realizing it, she reached for his hand and squeezed it tightly, so tight, it almost felt like she was trying to crush his bones, even though she knew she’d never be strong enough to do that.

"I know my lifespan is short," she said softly, turning to look at him, her smile still gentle. "But even so, I want to fill our marriage with so much love and joy, so that when my ti cos ... you’ll never forget . And maybe, when you marry again with—"

"I’m not marrying anyone else," Edmund cut her off in an instant, as fast as a bolt of lightning. "You are my only wife for now and forever. My heart, my body, and my soul belong to you. I will never give them to anyone else."

Primrose’s lips quivered the mont she heard those words.

Not only had Edmund’s way of speaking beco more confident, but his words were getting sweeter by the day.

Her heart pounded so hard in her chest that she was sure Edmund could hear it too.

She was so overwheld that her grip loosened, but Edmund quickly held her hand tighter, like he was afraid she’d drift away.

"My heart belongs to you too!" she blurted out, throwing herself into his arms without hesitation.

The priests, standing just a few steps away, imdiately began crying again, this ti with trembling hands and sparkling eyes, like they were watching the greatest romance play of the century.

[This is the purest love I’ve ever seen in my life!]

[I’ve married so many couples in this kingdom, but none of them looked this sweet!]

[Their love is so beautiful ... if I keep watching, my eyes might just fall out of my sockets.]

Wait ... why were their sweet complints slowly turning into complaints?

[I’ve never hugged soone that tenderly before ... The last ti I hugged anyone was a hundred years ago. It was my mother—OH, MOTHER! I MISS YOU!]

[Why do I feel like punching the person next to ? I’ve never felt this before ... is this ... is this what they call jealousy?!]

[Shaless! How dare they make want a wife too?!]

Alright. That was enough.

Primrose finally pushed Edmund back just a little—reluctantly ending the hug—because seriously, she didn’t want to accidentally taint the holy hearts of the temple priests by showing off how sweet her marriage was.

Still ... why did everyone always get so dramatic whenever she and her husband did sothing romantic?

They needed to stop being so jealous already!

"Thank you for explaining the aning behind the Moon Goddess’ words."

Primrose cleared her throat, clearly trying to pull the priests back to reality.
