The reason dinner was prepared later than usual was because Lazarus wanted to wait for his daughter.

It was sweet, but Primrose thought he shouldn’t have done that because she was afraid he’d get sick. He shouldn’t even be eating in the dining room since his foot was injured!

Yet what did he do? He had Denish put him in a wheelchair and insisted on coming anyway.

Primrose could only sigh. Her father could be so stubborn sotis, but since it was her first day ho, she tried to understand him. Maybe he just missed her too much.

And honestly, the mont she saw the delicious food spread out in front of her, she forgot all her frustration.

"I know you like spicy food, Rosie," Lazarus whispered, "but I don’t want you hurting my grandchild, so I asked the cooks to only add a little chili."

He kept his voice low because none of the staff knew about her pregnancy yet.

"Father, this food... it’s even better than what I usually eat!" Primrose said happily.

But the mont she rembered Edmund sitting beside her, her smile froze.

"I—I an, the food in Noctvaris isn’t bad either! It’s just... a little less spicy!" she corrected herself, laughing awkwardly.

"I know," Edmund said calmly. "Our food is quite bland."

[It’s because beasts don’t really like food with a lot of spices or chili, so we prefer cooking without strong seasoning,] Edmund muttered in his head, more like talking to himself. [I actually asked the palace cooks to season my wife’s als, but it seems I should’ve brought a human chef to Noctvaris instead.]

[Those beasts truly have no taste.]

Not that he had much taste himself either.

Primrose felt touched because her husband chose to think of a way to make sure she could eat good food instead of getting offended.

Without thinking, she reached for his hand under the table and traced the words "I love you" on his palm.

Edmund answered in his mind, gentle and warm. [I love you more.]

Their shoes brushed against each other, a quiet little ga only the two of them knew about, and they giggled like children sharing a secret.

Lazarus, on the other hand, nearly rolled his eyes into another world. At this point, he wanted to pluck his eyes out and soak them in hot water just so he didn’t have to witness this.

Seriously, these two couldn’t stop showing off their love in front of everyone!

Even the manor staff eventually realized that their lady had truly fallen head-over-heels for the Lycan King, and so of them wondered if she had Stockholm syndro.

Stockholm syndro? Please. Edmund didn’t kidnap her. She literally got delivered to his doorstep!

"Rosie, stop playing around," Lazarus said with a soft cough. "You need to eat before the food gets cold."

Primrose quickly stopped giggling and picked up her spoon. The mont the flavors touched her tongue, her eyes sparkled. After eating mild Noctvaris food for over three years, everything here tasted much spicier, but also so, so delicious.

anwhile, Edmund’s plates were clearly made for soone with a gentle stomach because there was no spice at all. It seed like Lazarus really prepared two styles of food; one for his daughter and one for his beast son-in-law.

So, Primrose casually mixed her spicy food with Edmund’s to balance the heat.

Edmund didn’t complain. If anything, he looked pleased. He always felt happy whenever she ate properly, and he even helped feed her so she didn’t have to lift her hand.

[What... what is wrong with Lady Primrose?! They’ve only been married for a few months and she’s already this deeply in love?!]

[Did soone cast a love spell on her?! She’s never acted like this before!]

People were really strange. Why couldn’t they just be happy seeing a married couple get along? It wasn’t her fault they were single.

Thankfully, Primrose was already used to hearing ugly thoughts from people’s heads, so she ignored them and let her husband feed her until she was full.

Since it was getting late and Primrose hadn’t rested yet, they decided not to do anything else and went back to their room.

"Father, don’t forget to take all your dicine and go straight to sleep," Primrose reminded Lazarus firmly. "If I find out you worked tonight, I will lock you in your room."

Lazarus narrowed his eyes.

"You just returned ho and the first thing you do is nag your father?"

"That’s because you’re too stubborn," she muttered. She then nodded to Denish to wheel him away. "We have to attend the King of Azria’s banquet in a few days. Be a good patient so you won’t have to show up in a wheelchair."

Primrose knew her father hated showing weakness in public. If he had to face the king in a wheelchair, his mood would be ruined all day.

And he obviously couldn’t skip the banquet because people would think he didn’t care about spending ti with his daughter.

Truthfully, Lazarus didn’t really care what people thought, but he did want to spend more ti with his daughter.

"Alright! Alright! I understand!" he sighed. "Now stop nagging!"

Instead of answering, Primrose hugged him and said softly, "I love you, Father."

Lazarus took a long breath and his expression softened. He gently patted her head and whispered, "I love you too, my sweet daughter."

After saying goodnight, they went to their rooms. As Lazarus ntioned earlier, Primrose could sleep in her old bedroom, and she didn’t expect it to still look exactly the sa as when she left.

"I’m sorry if you think my bedroom looks small," she said as they stepped inside.

In truth, her room wasn’t small at all—still quite spacious—but compared to their chamber in Noctvaris, it did feel a bit smaller.

Edmund’s gaze wandered.

"You kept all these toys," he murmured, noticing shelves filled with tiny buildings. The little structures were so detailed and realistic. "I didn’t know you liked things like this."

"Oh, those are buildable kits," Primrose explained. "Whenever I got bored, I chose to assemble them instead of lying around doing nothing."

[But... there are so many...] Edmund thought. [Does my wife really have that much free ti?]

"It’s not like I have nothing to do!" Primrose protested as soon as she heard his thoughts. "I only visited my father’s distillery once in a while and I didn’t have an official job yet, so I just had extra ti!"

"Besides, once I turned twenty, I didn’t have that much free ti anymore."

Honestly, those were her happiest days. The only thing she needed to think about was which dress she wanted to buy that day, without working too hard.

Unfortunately, right after she turned twenty, her father started giving her more tasks at the distillery. Still, it had been good training for her.

"And you have so many plushies," Edmund said when he noticed the pile of stuffed toys on her bed.

Primrose laughed awkwardly and tried to move them off the bed, but when she rembered they were part of her childhood, she stopped and left them there.

"Most of them were gifts," she said. "And don’t worry, there are no spying devices inside them."

Edmund froze for a mont because the first plushie he ever gave her had been used to spy on her.

"Alright, co here!" Primrose grabbed his arm and pulled him onto the bed. "Let’s just lie down for a while."

Primrose kicked off her shoes carelessly and lay on the bed she hadn’t used in so long. Edmund, on the other hand, climbed onto the mattress carefully after removing his shoes.

"Do you see that?" Primrose asked as soon as Edmund lay down beside her. He

He followed her gaze upward and paused for a mont.

On the ceiling above them, dozens of tiny stars were painted, glowing softly under the warm light.

So shimred faintly, as if catching mories instead of starlight. They weren’t perfect, so lines uneven, so constellations guessed rather than accurate, but they felt real.

"When I was little, my father bought glow-in-the-dark paint," Primrose began. "Back then, I always wanted to sleep with him and I was scared to sleep alone in my own room."

It was actually sothing normal, but noble children had to be taught to sleep in their own rooms from a young age. Not because their parents were cruel, but because nobles were very busy. If their children beca too attached, they might struggle to survive in the outside world.

And that really did happen. Primrose had even died after being separated from her father for too long.

"So, he decided to paint little stars on my ceiling and told that every ti I looked at those stars, I wouldn’t feel alone." Primrose smiled to herself. "He even told that my mother was among those stars."

Edmund turned his head toward her, watching the soft glow reflected in her eyes. There was a tenderness in her expression, the kind only soone who had loved and lost could have.

"He must have loved you very much," Edmund said softly.
