The Mind-Reading Mate: Why Is the Lycan King So Obsessed With Me? Chapter 483: The Man Who Called Me His Daughter
Stealing his daughter?
Primrose frowned. As far as she could rember, Edmund had never kidnapped anyone’s daughter. Yes, sotis her husband did questionable things, but she was sure that he would never go as far as kidnapping a girl.
Besides, how could she take his words seriously when he was wearing Averon’s face? Just looking at that familiar face made everything feel wrong.
"It seems you’ve co to the wrong person," Primrose said calmly. On the outside, she looked calm, but inside, her thoughts were in complete chaos. "My husband has never done sothing like that. But if you’re really sure he took your daughter, then tell your na. And stop hiding behind soone else’s face."
The man smiled and leaned back in his chair, looking relaxed. He observed her for a mont before speaking.
"I didn’t expect you to be this brave," he said. He tilted his head slightly. "Usually, you can’t even look in the eye. You wouldn’t talk to like this either. At least... not until the last ti."
Primrose looked at him in confusion, because she was sure she had never seen this man before. But then again, how could she be certain when he wasn’t even showing his real face?
[I want to kick him out right now...] Solene thought angrily. She clenched her teeth. [But Her Majesty keeps holding my hand. It’s like she wants to keep talking to him.]
To be honest, Primrose didn’t want to continue this conversation. Every second with this man made her uneasy.
But she knew the whole manor was probably already under his magic. That was why he looked so confident, and that was also why she still couldn’t read his thoughts at all.
Still... part of her was curious.
The way he spoke, the way he looked at her... it was as if he truly knew her very well.
Even though he was wearing soone else’s face, she felt a strange sense of familiarity, like she had t him before.
But when? And where?
After a mont, she finally asked, "Who are you?" Then she added firmly, "We’ve never t before. So please, stop talking nonsense."
Instead of answering her, he simply asked, "What nonsense?"
Primrose narrowed her eyes. "You said my husband kidnapped your daughter. You said I’m afraid to look at you. None of that is true," she replied coldly. "Those things never happened."
She took a deep breath before continuing, "You’re wasting my ti. If you don’t have anything important to say, then leave now."
"Why are you being so rude?" the man suddenly snapped as he stood up from his chair.
At the sa ti, Solene stepped forward, her hand already moving toward her sword, and she was ready to draw it at any mont.
This ti, Primrose didn’t stop her because she knew this man was about to do sothing dangerous.
"Oh, relax," the man said casually.
He turned his head toward Solene. Just a few seconds later, Solene froze. Her whole body beca stiff, as if she had turned into stone.
Her eyes widened in shock, and panic rushed into her chest.
This was the first ti in her life that soone had made her completely unable to move. No matter how hard she tried, her body wouldn’t listen to her. In fact, the more she struggled, the more it hurt, until tears almost filled her eyes.
"What are you doing?!" Primrose shouted as she jumped to her feet. She rushed to Solene’s side and grabbed her hands, trying to calm her down and stop her from forcing herself to move.
"Let her go!" she demanded. Primrose stared at him, her eyes burning with anger and fear. "Tell , what do you want?!"
The mont Primrose realized that this man was able to make such a strong lycan freeze in place, she knew that the longer he stayed here, the more terrible things would happen to them.
"Like I said, just relax," the man said with a small laugh. But his tone sounded more like he was mocking her. "I didn’t co here to kill you or anything."
Then he suddenly smiled. It was a strange, unsettling smile that made her skin crawl. "I just want to see my... daughter."
Primrose swallowed hard as he kept staring at her. At that mont, sothing clicked in her mind. The "daughter" he had been talking about all this ti... was her.
"I’m not your daughter," Primrose said firmly, forcing herself to stay calm. "I’m the daughter of Lazarus and Iriana. You’ve co to the wrong person."
"Oh, no, no, no," the man replied softly. "I never get things like this wrong." He began walking toward her, one slow step at a ti. Primrose tried to step back, but she couldn’t because her body suddenly froze, just like Solene’s had.
"Your body and your face may be different," he continued, his voice low and gentle, "but your soul..." He smiled. "Oh, I know you."
His fingers brushed through her red hair. Primrose felt her breath catch in her throat as fear slowly spread inside her chest.
"There are so many people who tried to keep us apart," the man said quietly. As he spoke, his eyes slowly turned golden, the sa golden color as hers.
"But no matter how far they took you away," he continued, "I will always find you." He looked at her with a strange mix of pride and obsession. "My beautiful daughter."
Even though Primrose couldn’t move her body, at least she was still able to speak. "I don’t know you," she said quietly but firmly. "I only have one father, and it’s not you."
"Oh, my daughter, you’re mistaken," the man replied softly. "That man has always tried to take you away from . If anything, you shouldn’t trust Lazarus."
Primrose clenched her teeth. "Don’t talk about him like that," she snapped. "He raised . He protected . He loved when I was weak and helpless. He is my father."
The man let out a low laugh. "Loved you?" he repeated slowly. "Oh, sweetheart, that man took you away from once. He even brainwashed you to hate ," he continued. "He told you that I’m a monster, which is ridiculous, because I also protected you and raised you. Please, don’t trust that man anymore."
His words sounded calm and sincere. Anyone else might have believed him, but Primrose didn’t.
She would never trust soone who spoke badly about Lazarus. Even if Lazarus had indeed taken her away from this man before, she knew he had done it for a good reason.
After all, she would rather believe soone who had loved her her whole life than trust a stranger who looked like he could kill people for fun.
"I don’t believe you," Primrose said coldly. Then she spat in his face. "You’re not my father."
For a mont, the man froze. He opened his mouth, as if he wanted to say sothing, but before any words ca out, he suddenly felt another wave of magic crash into his own.
At that mont, Solene and Primrose were finally able to move again. Solene imdiately drew her sword, and Primrose prepared to use her mind-control ability.
But they were still too slow. Before either of them could reach him, the man raised his hand and lightly flicked Primrose’s forehead. It didn’t look painful, but in the next second, her eyes rolled back, and her body went limp.
"Your Majesty!" Solene shouted. "You bastard!"
Solene shouted as she swung her sword at him. But the only thing her blade touched was empty air, because the man had already disappeared.
