Now reading: Chapter 112 112 : Weasley Twins (1) from The Most Fortunate Malfoy In Harry Potter, a Action novel by Devilsatan.

One night, a week before Halloween, Hogwarts felt different.

Since Sirius Black's break-in, the castle had grown noticeably quieter after dark. Corridors that used to stay busy late into the evening now emptied quickly, and students hurried back to their common rooms before professors started their patrols.

Torchlight flickered along the stone walls while cold wind rattled the windows from outside.

Victor walked through the corridors without much concern, moving past shifting staircases and silent suits of armor like he had done this dozens of tis already. The castle at night suited him better anyway. Less noise. Less people.

A faint sound of footsteps echoed ahead.

Victor stopped near a corner just as wandlight swept across the corridor.

Severus Snape appeared a second later, black robes trailing behind him as he moved through the hallway with the exact expression of a man who expected to catch students breaking rules.

Victor stepped back beside an old armor stand, waiting silently while Snape passed without noticing him.

The mont the footsteps faded, Victor walked out again.

"Tighter patrols this year," Victor muttered quietly before continuing deeper into the castle.

The reason he was sneaking around this late was simple enough.

He had been inside the Room of Requirent practicing Fiendfyre from an old restricted book from Malfoy Manor. Even attempting control over that spell took ridiculous concentration, and by the ti he stopped practicing, curfew had already passed.

Victor turned another corner quickly.

And slamd straight into two people.

Books dropped.

Soone hissed in pain.

"Weasley, watch where you're—"

Fred and George froze the mont they recognized him.

"Victor?"

The collision had been loud enough that nearby footsteps stopped imdiately.

All three of them reacted at once.

Filch appeared around the corner carrying his lantern, suspicion already on his face as his eyes narrowed toward the sound.

"There!" he snapped. "Who's there?"

Victor didn't waste even a second.

His wand was already out.

"Obscuro."

The spell shot forward instantly, wrapping around Filch's lantern and snuffing the light beneath dark cloth before he could properly see any of them.

"Them! I heard them!" Filch barked angrily, fumbling blindly while Mrs. Norris hissed beside him.

"Run," Victor said quietly.

That was enough for the twins.

Fred snatched up the dropped box while George grabbed the rest of their things, and all three imdiately took off down the corridor before Filch could properly recover.

The problem was that the twins followed Victor instead of splitting away.

Victor glanced back at them while turning sharply around a corner.

"Why are you two following ?" he asked. "Run the other way."

"Not happening," Fred replied at once.

"If we're getting caught tonight," George added while keeping pace beside him, "then we're making sure at least one Slytherin goes down with us."

Victor looked at both of them like they had personally offended him.

"You Gryffindors are irritating beyond belief."

Fred grinned despite the situation.

"And Slytherins are charming as always."

Behind them, Filch's angry shouting echoed through the corridor, mixed with the sharp screech of Mrs. Norris sowhere nearby.

"I know you're there!" Filch yelled. "You little troublemakers!"

George risked a quick glance back.

"That cat honestly moves faster than first-years during exam week."

Victor kept moving, robes snapping slightly behind him as they rushed down another staircase.

"At this point," he muttered, "I'm more concerned about running into Snape than Filch."

The twins imdiately lost so confidence at the ntion of Severus Snape.

Which honestly said enough by itself.

Victor turned another corner quickly before spotting an unused classroom nearby. He raised his wand toward the lock without stopping.

"Alohomora."

The door clicked open at once.

Victor slipped inside first, and Fred and George rushed in right behind him. The mont the three of them were inside, Victor shut the door quietly and locked it again with another flick of his wand.

Then all three leaned against the door together, staying completely silent while listening for movent outside.

Footsteps echoed faintly through the corridor.

Mrs. Norris let out a sharp hiss sowhere nearby, followed by Filch's irritated muttering.

"I know soone ca this way…"

The lantern light passed under the crack of the door for a brief mont before moving again.

None of the three spoke.

Fred was trying not to breathe loudly.

George looked like he was debating whether running again would sohow improve the situation.

After so ti, Filch's footsteps finally disappeared down the corridor along with the scratching sound of Mrs. Norris following behind him.

Only then did the three of them relax slightly.

George let out a long breath first while Fred leaned back against the wall.

"That was uncomfortably close."

Victor looked between the twins with clear annoyance still on his face.

"What exactly are you two doing wandering around the castle at night?" he asked.

Honestly, out of every student in Hogwarts, he sohow ended up running into these two troublemakers.

Fred looked deeply offended by the question.

"Excuse you," he said. "We happen to be older and vastly more experienced criminals than you."

"Which ans," George added, folding his arms importantly, "we ought to be asking what you are doing wandering around after curfew."

Victor looked at them blankly for a mont.

Then, without a word, he reached for the classroom door.

"You're right," he said calmly. "Let's go find Professor Snape and explain everything."

The twins reacted so fast it was almost impressive.

Fred grabbed Victor's sleeve while George physically pushed the door shut again.

"Have you completely lost your mind?" Fred hissed.

"We were joking," George added quickly. "That was what's known as humour."
