The grind has continued for nearly a hundred years and is still ongoing.
Due to the emptiness and void of this place, the three of them lost their physical bodies, and their souls were damaged, unable to cultivate any longer. The broken laws made them feel extrely uncomfortable.
Being idle and sober gradually beca torture.
But soone had to keep an eye on the suppression of the residual souls of the Demon Race to prevent accidents.
This place is inaccessible to the human race, but not necessarily to the Demon Race.
So, for the first decade or so, the three would stay awake together, engaging in aningless ’discussions on Dao’ to kill ti. Later, they agreed to take turns staying awake for a year each, while the other two would enter slumber.
And now, it was Shanqing Daoist’s turn to stay awake.
Not long ago, the flow of Heaven and Earth Spiritual Qi finally reached him from afar, piquing his curiosity and leading him here, where he t Lin Li.
"This place is unbearably dull. For a hundred years, no one has broken the shackles to reach this forbidden land. If it weren’t for the remaining souls not being completely annihilated, I would have ended myself a long ti ago; ’living’ holds no aning."
Shanqing Daoist shook his head and sighed.
"The human race should thank you," Lin Li said. Although he considered Shanqing Daoist a hero, he had no real sense of it, but still felt obliged to say sothing polite.
"It’s just responsibility," Shanqing Daoist waved his hand and then pointed to the supplies around them, slightly hopeful:
"Young friend, since you don’t need much of this food, could you let try so?"
"You can, but without a physical body, can you still eat?" Lin Li asked.
To be honest, if Shanqing Daoist hadn’t ntioned it himself, Lin Li wouldn’t have been able to tell that he was just a soul, as he appeared completely solid and real.
"Although I have no physical body, I can still condense matter."
After receiving permission, Shanqing Daoist explained and then opened a pack of compressed biscuits, putting them in his mouth to taste.
With slow and silent chewing, a smile erged on Shanqing Daoist’s lips: "It’s quite good."
"Is it delicious?" Lin Li was a bit puzzled.
These compressed biscuits, mainly ant to fill the stomach, were certainly not considered tasty.
"It’s not about the taste, it’s just that this is the first craving I have satisfied in a hundred years, and it makes happy," Shanqing Daoist shook his head and explained with a smile.
That makes sense. If Bai Bufan hadn’t eaten in a hundred years, not to ntion feces, even compressed biscuits would seem delicious to him.
"If you need them, you can have all of them," Lin Li imdiately said.
"There’s no need for that much," Shanqing Daoist smiled, waving his hand, drawing closer to Lin Li, full of curiosity: "Young friend, can you tell more about your world?"
"Sure."
...
It was evident that nearly a hundred years of solitude had made Shanqing Daoist interested in everything. No matter how Lin Li described the modern world, he listened with great curiosity and fascination.
"Is it really possible to achieve such feats without relying on magic? It’s hard to imagine; perhaps this is the wisdom of the human race. Unable to practice Immortal Dao arts, they found other ways to beco stronger."
Shanqing Daoist closed his eyes, trying to imagine Lin Li’s world but couldn’t really picture it.
Sighing, he opened his eyes and held Lin Li’s phone, repeatedly pressing the power button, watching it light up and go dark, his eyes filled with amazent.
"The mystery of this item, I cannot fully fathom or deconstruct."
It’s similar to the post-apocalyptic world; the text is common to both worlds. If there’s a difference, it’s that the Cultivation Realm predominantly uses traditional script, so Shanqing Daoist could roughly understand it.
"Grandpa Shanqing, if you want to see real scenes, though I can’t bring you to reality, next ti I can download so docuntaries for you to watch," Lin Li suggested.
Lin Li gradually got a bit closer, and Shanqing Daoist did not object to the slight change in terms of address.
"What is a docuntary?" Shanqing Daoist inquired.
"It’s a film recording the changes of things. As for what a film is, well, it’s this..."
Anticipating Shanqing Daoist’s questions, Lin Li took back his phone, demonstrating:
"This is an animation."
"This is a film."
"This is an adult... whoops, let’s skip this one."
"We’ll skip this one too, this one... damn! Why are there so many? Who put these videos on my phone!"
In fact, the phone’s album was still alright. If Lin Li opened the file manager and found QQ’s video storage path, he’d dare say nine out of ten would be... adult material, and the remaining one would be so friend’s prank.
Shanqing Daoist: "?"
Perhaps we shouldn’t skip?
"Forget it, Grandpa Shanqing, let’s not watch now," Lin Li coughed twice, closing the phone. "In short, films are just like mory Stones or Transmission Talismans."
"Docuntaries record the long-term developnt of my world, like a long-duration mory Stone."
"Oh, if you could bring so next ti, that would be much appreciated," Shanqing Daoist nodded expectantly, then asked, "When are you leaving, and when will you return again, young friend?"
[0.09.26]
"Grandpa Shanqing, I will be leaving in a few minutes,"
Lin Li glanced at the system; after their long conversation, the ti left was already running short.
"But don’t worry about this farewell, as I should return in another hour or two. Moreover, I personally believe that besides docuntaries, I might be able to bring back many chanical devices to keep you from getting bored in the future."
Lin Li said to Shanqing Daoist with a smile.
[Leaving ho young, returning old, after bidding farewell to Beauty, having no acquaintances in reality, feeling sowhat lonely and speechless, at this mont, eting an equally solitary elder; whether out of empathy or for the elder’s legacy, why not let him have a morable twilight!]
