Shanqing Daoist was still playing "Dark Souls," and although he had ample experience with virtual deaths and a healthy respect for the Souls gas, he still found himself dying frequently.
Deng Wen found it quite amusing to watch.
He didn't bother Shanqing with words, just let out a "tsk" or a chuckle, even whistling whenever Shanqing Daoist was killed by a boss or minor enemy.
—Which was more irritating than talking.
Gradually losing his patience, Shanqing Daoist, upon dying once more and hearing Deng Wen's laughter, whipped his head around to glare at Deng Wen with a grin seeping through his teeth: "Deng Daoist, what do you an by this?"
"Shan Qing, it's just funny when you attack those monsters and get killed—but I'm not saying it's not funny when you die attacking a demon lord," Deng Wen shrugged and spoke his mind.
Deng Wen was indeed quite confident now.
Knowing the ti flow in the two realms differed, Deng Wen realized that soon Lin Li would leave and return with what he needed in about half an hour.
By then, he would have his own computer and cellphone, and wouldn't be at Shanqing's rcy anymore.
Ti to get so payback for the silent treatnt he had endured!
"Deng Wen! Do you think this is easy? You might as well try it yourself. I bet you won't survive even the ti it takes for a stick of incense to burn," Shanqing Daoist, unable to tolerate the insult, furiously pointed at the laptop.
"Who do you think you're underestimating?" Deng Wen sneered upon hearing this.
How could a Sword Cultivator tolerate being challenged?
"Give it a shot!"
Shanqing Daoist imdiately made way, shuffling closer to Lin Li's spicy snack, leaving room with a look of anticipation.
Having been through hardships, he was eager to mock Deng Wen in a mont.
Deng Wen sat down, snapped his fingers, and a stick of incense appeared next to the computer desk.
Then he rolled up his sleeves, mimicking Shanqing Daoist's posture, placing his hands on the keyboard and mouse.
"I'm going to start." Deng Wen took a deep breath.
Shanqing Daoist stroked his beard with a smile: "I'm looking forward to it."
The incense stick started burning.
"..."
"..."
"Are you going to move?" Shanqing Daoist questioned loudly, seeing both the ga character and Deng Wen sitting as still as a rock.
"Why should I move?" Deng Wen turned around, puzzled: "I just need to keep it alive, and isn't it alive now?"
Shanqing Daoist: "(;☉_☉)?"
Bastard!
Shanqing Daoist's face darkened, then with a flick, he made the character move forward, deliberately provoking the monsters.
Deng Wen raised an eyebrow, imdiately setting a protective barrier on the computer, and recalling Shanqing Daoist's movent controls, he began… to run away.
He escaped quite smoothly, shaking off the enemy's aggro in just a few moves.
Shanqing Daoist: "..."
The incense stick burned out.
The character was still alive.
Deng Wen pressed escape, stood up, gave Shanqing Daoist a disdainful look, remained silent but shook his head, snorted lightly, and vacated the seat.
Everything was left unsaid.
Lin Li watched, struggling not to laugh, secretly increased the height of his flathrower, and continued absorbing Spiritual Qi.
As a result, Shanqing Daoist's head caught fire.
"Deng Wen!"
"Choosing to flee in the face of the enemy—is this really the sa unstoppable, once-arrogant Great Sword Immortal from back in the day, Deng Wen? Has your resolve really decayed this much in just a century?"
"You disgrace of Sword Cultivators!"
"Senior Shan Qing, we Sword Cultivators aren't fools," Deng Wen responded without a trace of anger but with a smile, "I've already suffered from inexperience. You handing it over so eagerly clearly shows the controls are tricky, why would I fall for it?"
"If you realize the ga's difficulty, then why laugh at ?" Shanqing Daoist huffed and puffed, literally afla.
Deng Wen: "Because I am the disgrace of Sword Cultivators, I mock whover I please, and I just happen to laugh at you."
At first, Shanqing Daoist widened his eyes, ready to lose his temper, but he suddenly fell silent, then burst out laughing, his deanor softening, shaking his head as he spoke to Deng Wen with a smile:
"Who would have thought that a century ago, the Cloud Sword Immortal Deng Wen, revered by thousands, would turn out like this rogue?
If word of that posture got out, it might break the hearts of many Sword Cultivators and admirers—if any of them were still alive."
Perhaps, Deng Wen too felt so nostalgia, lifting his head to see the vibrant purple lightning increasingly dense in the sky, he shook his head and smiled, reflecting:
"They've been dead for so many years, why still care about these things, in life like a..."
Wait, hold on a second.
Why the hell is that purple lightning really coming down on ?
So Shanqing Daoist wasn't reminiscing, but simply using that as a diversion to launch a sneak attack?
"You sly old Daoist!"
The forbidden land trembled, Sword Qi shot out sharply, intertwining with the Thunder Skill.
Lin Li glanced around, anticipating the ergence of a third human powerhouse.
But even after they ended, no one appeared.
The two had a true Cultivation Realm's sparring match this ti, but it seed inconclusive; they soon returned beside Lin Li and the computer.
"You keep using the sa moves over and over."
"So do you."
"..."
"Grandpa, your relationship with Senior Deng seems pretty good." Watching Shanqing Daoist return to the flas, Lin Li comnted with a teasing smile.
"With him? What's so good about it?" Shanqing Daoist feigned arrogance.
Lin Li didn't comnt further upon hearing this, put away the "Spirit Gathering Celestial Array," and stood with a smile.
—The ti allowed to stay here for this session was almost up.
The brought gas canister was nearly spent, but luckily the warmth quest was over two-thirds complete, and next ti he could finish it.
"There are many gas on the computer that can be played by two people together; Grandpa and Senior Deng, if you're interested, you can try them out. For new gas, you're both essentially on the sa starting line." Lin Li advised before leaving, while packing up the Sword Techniques Deng Wen had written down.
"Oh? Two people can play together on one computer?" Shanqing Daoist raised an intrigued eyebrow: "What are they called? After playing this ga for over ten hours straight, I'm a bit fatigued."
Lin Li took out pen and paper, jotting down the nas of these gas and the directories on the computer or hard drive where they could be found.
"For competitive gas, there's 'Bleach VS Naruto,' 'King of Fighters' series..."
"For cooperative gas, there's 'Overcooked,' 'Human: Fall Flat,' 'It Takes Two'..."
Lin Li took out his cellphone, slightly disappointed.
No internet.
Though it's usual for the Cultivation Realm to have no internet, Lin Li was disappointed today because he had actually set up a personal hotspot, but still there was no internet.
Lin Li glanced at "Shanqing Daoist, currently on fire."
Why isn't there any internet?
With no LAN and just one machine, he could only recomnd these.
"The latter significantly promotes friendship between you and Senior Deng, so I personally recomnd... the forr," Lin Li summarized for the two, his left brain debating his right.
Then Lin Li smiled and bid farewell: "Well, Grandpa, Senior, I'll be off for now, see you later."
He let Deng Wen rest his hand on his shoulder, and then Lin Li disappeared from his sight.
"Indeed, no way to trace or investigate; the seed left in my body just vanishes." Deng Wen observed the empty space, unsurprised by Shanqing Daoist's prior warning, he simply said.
"I already told you, yet you didn't believe this old Daoist, Deng Wen, want to try the new gas Lin Li ntioned?"
Shanqing Daoist was seemingly unfazed, looking at Deng Wen, gesturing toward the computer, eager and ready.
"Sure, I've long wanted to challenge you in a different way." Deng Wen was completely agreeable, even pleased, "What should we play? Lin Li recomnded this 'Bleach VS Naruto,' or 'King of Fighters'?"
"Let's try a cooperative one." Shanqing Daoist shook his head, "Try this 'Human: Fall Flat,' I imagine it involves us working together to rescue a defeated humanity, just like in the old days—"
"Hmm? Why? Lin Li recomnded the competitive ones, didn't he?" Deng Wen looked puzzled.
Shanqing Daoist chuckled.
Recollecting the first ti Lin Li recomnded "Dark Souls."
Though it had been an emotional rollercoaster, deeply painful yet filled with joy, ultimately, the pain lingered.
But now he had mastered Lin Li's user manual.
So—
Confidently finding the directory and firing up the ga, Shanqing Daoist declared decisively, "You can't always trust Lin Li, but you can never trust Lin Li."
Deng Wen: "(;☉_☉)?"
