AFTER the first screenings of the movie played in several theaters, posts about it started filling up [Cyberspace]. Because it was an independent film, few well-known critics put out early reviews. But one of them did. Her na was Kristin Kirkwood, a film critic with a decent following who had been posting reviews of every movie Astrid had appeared in so far.
Kristin Kirkwood v: [ opens with a strong sequence that sets the tone imdiately. It grips you from the start and establishes the kind of dread the film is aiming for. However, the middle act does lag. The investigation scenes lose so montum and could have benefited from tighter editing.
But the film picks up again in the third act. The tension returns, and the payoff is worth the wait.
The cinematography deserves special ntion. The use of light and shadow shows exactly the kind of atmosphere Director McCann was going for. For a first ti feature director, McCann displays real talent. He understands pacing, framing, and how to build unease without relying on cheap scares. The music elevates everything. It is haunting without being overpowering, and it fits the tone of the film perfectly.
The acting is strong across the board. Rhett Archer is a revelation. His performance as the lead carries weight and vulnerability. He holds his own against more experienced cast mbers. Astrid Townsend is, as usual, superb. On the surface, his role as the calm, collected psychiatrist seems simple. But after the final reveal, you realize there is much more happening beneath the surface. His performance has layers that reward a second viewing.

It was not the huge wave of posts you would see from a big comrcial release with a lot of marketing money behind it. But for an indie film with limited promotion, the amount of attention it was getting was already more than anyone had expected.
