"Tang Family Master is noble and righteous, able to save us from dire straits. We ordinary people are endlessly grateful. May I ask when you will be able to capture that villain and take his life?"
This is the sentint of the people. As long as Yan Lin is not found and captured, they cannot sleep. Besides desperately seeking revenge, they are worried that they might accidentally be killed by Yan Lin in their sleep. Wouldn't that make their hearts bleed?
"When can we catch him? That depends on when you can pay for my services. If you work efficiently, I'll act quickly; if you are slow, I'll be slow too."
Tang Rao stood tall and spoke boldly in front of all those people and so many bewildered eyes.
Paynt?
Those who were just pleading with Tang Rao were dumbfounded after hearing his words.
How did they not know that asking Tang Rao to help catch a person would require paynt?
Their hos had been nearly destroyed by Yan Lin. If they had the money, they wouldn't be begging Tang Rao so persistently.
"No paynt, and you treat as free labor, huh?"
Tang Rao glanced sideways at these surprised people, wondering if they were genuinely naïve or just playing dumb.
When hiring others with great abilities, people would even pay a fee if the task was not completed, just as a hard-earned token. But with Tang Rao, they expect him to take risks, fearing retribution from the commoners, yet offering nothing in return. Why should he agree?
"That's not fair; you see, our wealth has been almost entirely destroyed by now. We can't even feed our families. Let alone coming up with money. The last ti, each household spent 100 Purple Crystals to hire soone powerful, leaving us penniless. Taking more money ans our entire family would have to beg in the streets."
The man cried to Tang Rao about their poverty, his performance impeccable and expression sincere. If he weren't wearing so many valuable ornants, Tang Rao might have believed his tale.
"Oh, I see. So if you can't even support your family, even if I save them, they won't have a good life. It might be better just to leave it all to fate, like now, and carry on."
These tricks were still too simple to fool Tang Rao. Without recognizing whom they were dealing with, while Tang Rao was winning accolades, they were still knee-deep in muck.
These people saw that Tang Rao had made up his mind and stopped trying to take advantage of him.
Their ranks couldn't compare to Tang Rao's. Even one of his smallest fingers was far more valuable. It's better to negotiate sincerely with him without exploiting, and let Tang Rao willingly resolve this matter.
A well-off plump woman, who had seen Tang Rao's determined attitude, imdiately handed over 100 Purple Crystals, setting a leading example among the group.
"Tang Family Master, my family has suffered, and though we yearn for revenge, we lack the strength. These 100 Purple Crystals are all we can offer. It's not much, but I hope, in light of my sincerity, Tang Family Master can seek justice for us."
One hundred Purple Crystals, on a normal day, wouldn't even make Tang Rao bend down if dropped. But this was all they had.
From the beginning, the plump woman's actions had been comndable. Although she liked small gains, she wasn't like others always trying to extract from Tang Rao.
Her attitude earned Tang Rao's approval. He accepted the Purple Crystals and fairly promised her, "As the first to offer Purple Crystals, I won't take advantage of you. When I catch that person, if he has any Purple Crystals as compensation, I will first compensate your family's loss. Whatever surplus there is, it will be distributed to the second and third person who provided Purple Crystals, and so on. I believe none of you present would object to this."
Who would dare object? Since Tang Rao made the decision, others could only comply.
Upon hearing that Yan Lin might have money for compensation, several people ca forward with 100 Purple Crystals, repeatedly reminding Tang Rao to rember their nas, lest the compensation be misplaced.
Among the large group, only four or five didn't contribute 100 Purple Crystals. Of course, the person covered in treasures refused to pay wasn't among them.
He, too, followed suit, placing 100 Purple Crystals in Tang Rao's hand, with an old face looking quite embarrassed.
"Hey, why haven't you handed over your Purple Crystals? Don't you want revenge?"
Those who paid kept urging those who hadn't to quickly contribute, so as not to waste ti.
The remaining four or five looked at Tang Rao with a sense of defeat, reluctance, and a trace of unease.
Others could co up with money, but they couldn't even gather 100 Purple Crystals. It's not about unwillingness; they truly didn't have it.
"Could we work so laborious tasks under the Tang Family Master to pay off the service fee? Our family, honestly, doesn't have 100 Purple Crystals. Even searching everywhere might not yield five. Demanding 100 Purple Crystals would be our death."
The old man sighed deeply. Despite a lifeti of diligent labor, he hoped to at least enjoy so peace, if not wealth, in his later years. Yet, he found himself unable to protect his ho or loved ones. Were it not for their reliance on him, he might have chosen a dark path.
"No worries, with so many having paid, I'm in a good mood and will waive it for you."
Four or five hundred Purple Crystals! Seeing such an amount would make others envious. Yet, these people t a wealthy oddball today who didn't care about four or five hundred Purple Crystals.
After all, if they had no Purple Crystals, pressing them would be futile.
"Why do they get off, but not us? Can't we save on our Purple Crystals too?"
Not far from Tang Rao, a man noticed those four or five contributed less and saw an opportunity to reclaim so from Tang Rao. One glance, however, nearly scared him to his knees.
"Does anyone else have an issue?"
Tang Rao's aura expanded, daring anyone to question. Had Tang Rao not taken action, those who paid, eager to resolve this, would ensure he had no problem.
"No issues then, Tang Family Master. We await your good news."
Tang Rao agreed to handle this ongoing issue. Once everyone left, anger slowly surfaced on his face.
