Yun Jiao smiled at Ah Tie, exited the kitchen, and intentionally glanced inside as she passed Jiang Youzhi’s room.
Jiang Youzhi was looking outside, seemingly waiting for her to pass by.
When their eyes t, Jiang Youzhi awkwardly shifted his gaze.
Yun Jiao chuckled and walked away in a good mood.
Shortly after she returned to her room, Mrs. Chen ca over.
Mrs. Chen sat by the table for quite a while before finally speaking, "Well, Yun Jiao, I’ve realized I’ve been mistaken about so things in the past."
"I’ve heard that the court encourages widows to remarry; so only observe their mourning for a year, and so remarry after just a hundred days."
"If you want to get married, pretend that the promise I made to you earlier doesn’t exist."
Yun Jiao said with a smile, "Why did you suddenly ntion this, Mother?"
Mrs. Chen sighed, "I have my own selfish reasons."
"This household is relying entirely on you now. If you were to truly marry, I would feel as if the sky was going to collapse."
"However, I’m also worried that you’ll miss good prospects because of that promise."
Resolutely, she said, "If there’s a good family, don’t worry about anything, just marry, and don’t overthink it."
Yun Jiao stood up and respectfully curtseyed to Mrs. Chen, "Thank you, Mother, but Yun Jiao doesn’t have any desire to marry anyone. Even after three years, I won’t be eighteen yet, so it’s still early."
Upon hearing this, Mrs. Chen was secretly pleased that Yun Jiao was still willing to keep the three-year promise.

Yun Jiao paused for a mont before realizing he was speaking to her.
She nodded, "Yes."
Just as Third Sister was carrying a stack of bowls to the kitchen, Jiang Youzhi seized the chance, "Sun Jin isn’t worthy of you."
"If you decide to marry, soday—soday I’ll find soone suitable for you."
Yun Jiao laughed, "Really? Alright, then make sure you find soone who can read and write for , Third Brother."
Jiang Youzhi laughed awkwardly, and then Third Sister ca back in, so he kept quiet.
Yun Jiao picked up the dishes and left with Third Sister.
The next morning, the weather changed; though it hadn’t rained, the wind blew as if winter had arrived overnight.
The new padded jackets for the family had been almost completed by Mrs. Chen, even Jiang Youzhi’s jacket was ready, only hers was yet to be made.
Early in the morning, Mrs. Chen got everyone to put on their new padded jackets.
The jackets were made with two layers, the inner layer was the padding, and the outer layer was a coat.
When the coat gets dirty, it can be removed for washing without needing to wash the inner padding layer, thus maintaining the fluffiness of the cotton as much as possible.
Ah Tie also put on a coffee-colored padded jacket.
The jackets Mrs. Chen made were long and covered the hips, making them warr to wear.
Initially, Ah Tie didn’t want to wear the new jacket to collect firewood; Yun Jiao scolded him a bit, ntioning they’d go to town to buy more cotton in a few days, and everyone would get another set, only then did he wear the new jacket to leave.
Usually, when Ah Tie went to collect firewood, he wandered around at the foot of the mountain and would typically return within half an hour or at most an hour, but today, after he went out, he was gone for a long ti.
Yun Jiao had no choice but to call Liu Lang, "Go and check the wasteland out back and see if Ah Tie is there?"
Liu Lang held onto Gu Chuan, and they ran off together.
