The Marquis Mansion had a very unfriendly attitude towards the nanny sent by Lady Wu to discuss the marriage.
The nanny was so angry that she ca back to complain to Lady Wu, "I sat at the gatehouse for a long ti before soone took inside, and once inside, they didn’t even offer a cup of tea."
"The Marchioness of Changping did not see either, instead sending an old nanny to listen to . That old nanny was deaf, and I had to shout for a long ti before she went ’ah ah ah’."
Lady Wu couldn’t help but want to laugh. She knew that the Changping Marquis Mansion was feeling quite aggrieved. A perfectly good eldest daughter, ticulously raised from childhood, now had to marry an unworthy concubine’s son. Nobody would be happy about that.
Lady Wu comforted the nanny, "You’ve had a hard ti, have so tea."
"Since it’s like this, let’s not bother with it. Let Aunt Su handle it."
She sent soone to call Aunt Su over and slowly recounted the nanny’s experience at the Changping Marquis Mansion, "It seems like the Changping Marquis Mansion is trying to back out of this marriage."
"My people cannot suffer such a grievance, send your people to negotiate with them, and report back to once everything is settled."
Lady Wu was very clear that while Aunt Su might play tricks in other matters, when it ca to her son’s marriage, she would be more attentive than anyone else and wouldn’t want any mistakes.
Yes, so she intended to use Aunt Su’s people to handle the matter, and once everything was done, all the credit would belong to her as the mistress.
Aunt Su very obediently replied, "Yes, sorry to trouble you, Mada."
She paused for a mont and added, "I want to go to the Changping Marquis Mansion, and I ask Mada for your kindness."
Lady Wu said indifferently, "Granted."
Aunt Su respectfully exited.
Lin Qiao whispered, "What’s Aunt Su going to the Changping Marquis Mansion for?"
Lady Wu chuckled softly, "She’s afraid this marriage will fall through and is eager to reassure the Changping Marquis Mansion."
Lin Qiao curiously asked, "Will that work?"
Lady Wu said, "Her family is incredibly wealthy in Jiangnan and has now expanded their business to the Capital City. As long as she is willing to spend the silver, the marriage should proceed."
Lin Qiao asked again, "With such wealth, why was she sent to the palace back then?"
Lady Wu shook her head, "You don’t know. The wealthier one is, the more protection one needs. Otherwise, others might beco envious of your silver and falsely accuse you, leading to your family’s downfall."
"Their family sent their daughter to the palace to seek protection. Little did they expect she’d end up in the Duke Mansion by a twist of fate."
She smirked with a trace of mockery, "Hasn’t the Duke Mansion been their protection for these past ten years?"
"Nowadays, many things in the palace are supplied by the Su Family. Their connections in the palace have beco intricate and formidable."
After listening, Lin Qiao seed half-understanding.
Aunt Su went to the Changping Marquis Mansion once, and whatever benefits she gave, there were no more issues from the Changping Marquis Mansion.
All the wedding arrangents were managed ticulously by Aunt Su.
Even Lady Wu had to admit that Aunt Su had much more talent in managing the household than she did.
Even the accounts she previously handed over were clear and precise, perhaps because she lacked nothing, she hadn’t embezzled a single coin from the Duke Mansion.
Soon it was the wedding day of Jiang Han and Ling Wei.
Yun Jiao left the mansion early in the morning for the workshop. Jiang Han’s marriage had nothing to do with her, and she didn’t need to socialize.
As the carriage approached Huaihua Alley, Yun Jiao looked through the thinly veiled window towards a teahouse by the street.
