Yun Jiao sneered, "Before today, I hadn’t exchanged a single word with Mr. Yan. How do you know I have any intentions?"
"It’s just your own imagination."
Yan Beichen raised an eyebrow, "Imagination?"
"That word is interesting."
Yun Jiao replied, "I know Mr. Yan has always been forceful with won. I feel sorry for you; although you have a household full of won, not one follows you willingly."
Yan Beichen shook his head, "You’re wrong. They follow and live a life of luxury. They see as their god."
Yun Jiao chuckled lightly, "They don’t see you as a god; they’re afraid of you. No, it’s not you they’re afraid of, but the power behind you."
"Imagine, one day, when you lose your power, how do you think those won will treat you?"
Yan Beichen said in a deep voice, "That day will never co."
Yun Jiao shook her head, "No one can guarantee they will always hold power, but that’s just your first sorrow."
"Your second sorrow is that you’re like an unevolved animal, uncontrolled, letting desire drown you."
"What you can gain is only fleeting physical pleasure. You endlessly change won and never understand mutual love or lifelong commitnt."
"You don’t deserve these higher spiritual enjoynts beyond physical desires."
Yan Beichen said nothing more, only looked deeply at Yun Jiao.
Now he understood why the Young Master cherished Yun Jiao not for her looks, but for the things in her mind.
Yun Jiao continued, "Mr. Yan, if a person cannot even control their own desires, what difference is there between them and an animal?"
Yan Beichen slightly raised his brows. He wasn’t angry at all; he didn’t believe Yun Jiao said so much just to subtly insult him as a beast.
Yun Jiao decided not to say any more. If she continued, she’d start to instill socialist core values into Yan Beichen.
She shifted her tone, "This shop is opened by ; my father and brother both live here."
"Since Mr. Yan ca, I suppose you’ve figured everything out."
"Although there are many aspects of Mr. Yan that I disdain, I do appreciate one thing: you act openly and disdain underhanded thods."
Yan Beichen then understood, Yun Jiao said so much to belittle him, only to give him a slight affirmation, subtly intending him not to harm her father and brother.
He stared at Yun Jiao for a while, "Rest assured, if I strike, it will only be at you."
A weight finally lifted from Yun Jiao’s heart. When she decided to open the pharmacy, she had thought about this matter.
She worried that once her father and brother were out in the open, Yan Beichen might use them to threaten her.
But, they could not hide like mice to live a lightless life just because of Yan Beichen.
She said calmly, "Then it’s settled. A gentleman’s word is beyond pursuit by four steeds."
"Just don’t know if Mr. Yan is a gentleman!" After speaking, she walked out without waiting for Yan Beichen’s response.
It seed his answer didn’t matter at all.
Yan Beichen watched her back, finding their conversation increasingly interesting.
The tone and attitude of her speech weren’t flattering or ingratiating, not even a trace of fear, just like those few officials who aren’t afraid of him at court.
