Yan Beichen was caught off guard for a mont, and being too close to dodge, several needles instantly pricked his face.
He hadn’t expected Yun Jiao to be so ruthless. In a bout of rage, he didn’t care about the needles in his face and raised his hand to strike Yun Jiao.
Yet, just as his hand was about to touch Yun Jiao’s cheek, his fingers suddenly curled, brushing past her cheek.
In that instant, he realized he couldn’t bring himself to harm her.
This realization left him montarily dazed; when did he start to cherish and protect the fairer sex?
At that mont, Yun Jiao swiftly pulled out the hairpin from her head and stabbed it viciously into his hand.
The intense pain from his hand imdiately snapped Yan Beichen back to reality. Clearly, he could grab her by the neck, yet for so reason, even though Yun Jiao had hurt him so, he still couldn’t bear to harm her in the slightest.

Soon, the previous woman entered.

Yao Niang finished removing the needles and walked over to Yun Jiao with a dark expression, reaching into her pocket as she moved.
Yun Jiao sat up from the bed, glanced at the woman walking towards her, then looked at Yan Beichen and said, "You want to give a sedative?"
"I advise you not to. You’re already poisoned. Without my antidote, you’ll be dead within an hour."
Yao Niang was startled, stopped her steps, and looked back at Yan Beichen.
Yan Beichen’s expression changed. While Yun Jiao was speaking, he felt his hand becoming increasingly numb, as if it had lost all feeling.
However, he quickly regained his composure, "Blood clot when exposed to air?"
"No problem, I have the antidote."
He said calmly, "Not just for blood-clotting poisons, but for crane’s top red, zhen poison—I’ve prepared all their antidotes."
With his intelligence, he had already considered that Yun Jiao was a doctor, and he might accidentally get poisoned, so he prepared several antidotes for potent toxins.
As he spoke, he observed Yun Jiao, trying to discern any clues from her face, since he really didn’t know what poison he had been subjected to.
The doctor told him that these poison antidotes also inherently have so toxicity and should never be taken casually if not poisoned.
Yet, Yun Jiao’s expression remained indifferent, as if she wasn’t worried at all about him taking the antidote.
Yan Beichen walked to the vanity, opened a jewelry box, and revealed the top layer full of dazzling jewels.
He glanced at Yun Jiao, "These jewels were specially prepared for you, do you like them?"
