An Ning’s eyes moved slightly.

What did this have to do with her?

She stated directly, "I will step aside."

Xiao Jinxing’s gaze seed to grow colder.

Or perhaps, it was just an illusion.

He had already lowered his eyes at this mont.

An Ning could no longer see the emotions in his eyes.

Slowly, Xiao Jinxing ordered, "Inform soone to call Feng Xiyun’s maid."

An Ning was montarily stunned.

Did Feng Xiyun bring a maid?!

Why wasn’t that ntioned earlier?!

As if seeing through her thoughts, Xiao Jinxing added, "She didn’t co into Changn County with us; she’s waiting outside the county gate."

"Oh," An Ning replied.

Since Xiao Jinxing was not going to wipe Feng Xiyun’s body,

they could only let soone else do it.

She walked toward the door and instructed the soldiers.

Then she returned to continue performing basic physical cooling on Feng Xiyun.

Approximately an hour later.

Feng Xiyun’s maid finally entered the room, and seeing Feng Xiyun unconscious, her eyes reddened and she cried sorrowfully.

An Ning taught the maid how to carry out physical cooling on Feng Xiyun before she left the bedside.

After all, it was a matter of propriety.

At that mont, An Ning saw Xiao Jinxing had moved to one side, with his back to the bed, his eyes closed again.

An Ning returned to the ink stand.

Thinking that now the maid was doing physical cooling for Feng Xiyun, and the dicine would take another hour to brew, she decided to lie down on the ink stand and intended to sleep for a while during the downti.

It had been like this the past few days.

She would seize any gap to rest.

She did not want to die suddenly from exhaustion.

An Ning slept soundly almost imdiately once she lay on the ink stand.

As soon as she closed her eyes, Xiao Jinxing opened his.

Opening his eyes, he saw her sleeping not far away, her sleeping posture clearly uncomfortable, yet she was deeply asleep.

Xiao Jinxing’s throat moved slightly.

He got up and walked step by step toward An Ning.

Stopping just a step away, he halted.

His eyes stayed fixed on her unfamiliar face, watching... endlessly.

An hour later.

A voice ca from outside the room, "Doctor, the dicine is ready."

An Ning furrowed her brow.

It was so hard to wake up.

She changed her sleeping position and lay for a while longer, ultimately relying on willpower to wake herself up.

Upon opening her eyes, she saw Xiao Jinxing had already fetched the dicine and brought it to Feng Xiyun’s bedside.

Because physical cooling was necessary, the curtain on Feng Xiyun’s bed was lowered.

The maid had dressed Feng Xiyun, then lifted the curtain again.

"Feed her," Xiao Jinxing instructed.

"Yes," the maid replied respectfully.

She tried to prop up the unconscious Feng Xiyun against the headboard to feed her the dicine.

But Feng Xiyun remained in a weak, coma-like state, unable to sit up straight.

The maid grew anxious.

"Sit behind her and support her," Xiao Jinxing instructed.

The maid quickly complied.

She let Feng Xiyun lean against her, supporting her body.

Xiao Jinxing held the bowl of dicine.

Just when An Ning thought Xiao Jinxing would feed Feng Xiyun himself.

"Since you’re awake, co and feed her the dicine," Xiao Jinxing glanced at An Ning.

An Ning was indeed up from the ink stand now.

Stretching and moving to fully awaken.

Hearing Xiao Jinxing’s command, she was speechless.

Feeding soone dicine, is it that exhausting for him?!

An Ning walked over, took the dicine from Xiao Jinxing, scooped a spoonful, and put it to Feng Xiyun’s lips.

Feng Xiyun simply wouldn’t open her mouth.

An Ning tried several tis, finally, she forcibly poured the dicine into Feng Xiyun’s mouth, but Feng Xiyun not only didn’t swallow it but spit it out because of the bitterness.

An Ning frowned.

She didn’t expect Feng Xiyun to be so difficult to care for, given how gentle she seed.

The maid, witnessing Feng Xiyun’s reaction, was also extrely anxious; she hurriedly explained, "Miss has always been fond of dical skills since childhood, but she strongly dislikes dicine. It’s always hard for her to drink it when sick, thus her illnesses last long..."

"But if she doesn’t take dicine now, she won’t recover even after a long ti and could die," An Ning bluntly said.

"What do we do now? Miss is unconscious and surely more averse to bitter dicine," the maid asked anxiously, "Can we wake her up?"

"She’s burning with fever and confused, only after cooling the fever might she wake up. Physical cooling is temporary, it can only make her slightly more comfortable, it’s not a real solution, the dicine is necessary."

So they circled back again.

"What should we do?" The maid was about to burst into tears!

"How about... feeding her the dicine mouth-to-mouth?" An Ning suddenly suggested.

The maid looked at An Ning.

"Only by sending the dicine directly to her throat can you force her to swallow," An Ning explained the only thod.

After speaking.

Both An Ning and the maid instinctively looked at Xiao Jinxing.

The maid was Feng Xiyun’s close maid; though she couldn’t accompany Feng Xiyun into the palace regularly, she’d seen the Emperor before.

She knew that Miss had always admired the Emperor.

If the Emperor did it this way, Miss likely wouldn’t mind upon waking.

More than not minding, if the Emperor did it, he would have to be responsible for Miss, and she could enter the harem as desired.

The maid grew excited at the thought.

However, the Emperor showed no reaction for a long ti.

An Ning also grew impatient, directly stating, "Sir, it’s your task now."

Saying this, she handed the dicine back to Xiao Jinxing.

Xiao Jinxing’s hand behind his back trembled with repressed emotion.

Yet, on his face, no emotion could be discerned.

His indifferent gaze rested on An Ning, as she spoke so directly and candidly.

After a mont of silence.

Xiao Jinxing shifted his gaze and told Feng Xiyun’s maid, "Follow the doctor’s advice, and feed your Miss the dicine."

"..." The maid was utterly stunned.

An Ning’s eyes widened as she looked at Xiao Jinxing.

After speaking, Xiao Jinxing turned and left abruptly.

So Xiao Jinxing ant for the maid to feed Feng Xiyun mouth-to-mouth?!

An Ning could imagine how devastated Feng Xiyun would be upon waking up and realizing it was the maid who fed her this way.

The maid watched the Emperor’s departing figure, watched him walk straight out of the room, then looked back at An Ning in disbelief, trembling as she asked, "Does it have to be this way?"

An Ning snapped back to reality.

Also shocked.

She regained composure and told the maid, "If you don’t want your Miss to die here."

The maid resigned herself.

She could only follow the doctor’s orders, gritting her teeth to feed her Miss.
