Gu Tingyu worked quickly, and it wasn’t long before Yiyi’s makeup was done.
When Yiyi looked in the mirror, she found she hardly recognized herself; the girl in the mirror had a simple and honest look, quite different from her usual appearance.
"Alright, let’s set off now."
Upon hearing this, Yiyi snapped back to her senses and quickly followed Gu Tingyu. The two of them boarded a small bus heading to the town where Xing Village was located, and they set off shakily.
anwhile, Du Kun took Fei Erya back to Houshan Town, but Fei Erya was still unsettled. She frowned and looked at Du Kun, asking, "Will Yiyi really be okay? Is your mission this ti dangerous?"
"Young lady, don’t worry, there’s definitely no problem. Tingyu will certainly protect her, and besides, we’ve arranged for people in the shadows, so nothing will happen."
However, Fei Erya was still not reassured. She looked deeply at Du Kun and asked, "Who exactly are you people? What task are you executing?"
"Sorry, that’s confidential and can’t be disclosed."
Hearing this, Fei Erya was filled with anger, "Yiyi is risking herself to help you, and yet you still keep it a secret? What about those of us who are worried?"
"In just three days at most, the young girl Yiyi will return, so you don’t have to worry. Just wait patiently."
Despite what he said, Fei Erya didn’t pay any attention to Du Kun. She directly turned her head to look out the window, silently watching the scenery until they reached Houshan Town, where Du Kun walked Fei Erya all the way to Yiyi’s ho.
Ding Yuejun saw Fei Erya returning with a strange man and was a bit puzzled. After looking behind them and noticing her daughter hadn’t co back, she hurriedly asked, "Erya, where’s Yiyi? Weren’t you two going to the city together? Why didn’t she co back with you?"
Fei Erya was about to explain when Du Kun started recounting the situation. However, he spoke skillfully, only saying that Yiyi t a friend, Gu Tingyu, and stayed in the city to help with a small task.
Fei Erya pressed her lips together and didn’t add anything else. She didn’t want Ding Yuejun to worry too much, so she nodded and said, "Yes, Aunt Ding, Yiyi will be back in a couple of days."
Ding Yuejun furrowed her brows, "Why didn’t Yiyi ntion this friend before?"
Du Kun quickly laughed and spoke about Gu Tingyu, explaining everything about him, and finally said, "Auntie, maybe Yiyi just didn’t have the chance to tell you yet."
Fei Erya thought of Yiyi’s expression when she saw Gu Tingyu and beca convinced they were friends; otherwise, Yiyi wouldn’t have reacted that way at the ti. "Aunt Ding, he really is Yiyi’s friend."
Hearing Fei Erya’s certainty, Ding Yuejun felt a little more at ease and invited Du Kun to stay for a al.
Du Kun quickly waved his hands and said, "Auntie, I have sothing to do so I’ll head back first. I won’t stay for dinner." After saying this, he left directly.
Elsewhere, Yiyi and Gu Tingyu arrived shakily at Lin Family Town and then took a tricycle, bumping along to Xing Village.
Upon reaching Xing Village, Gu Tingyu led Yiyi towards the entrance of the village.
"Sister, we’ll be ho soon. After so many years, I’ve almost forgotten what ho looks like. Let’s stay a while before leaving this ti."
Yiyi smiled and nodded, "Alright, brother," and she affectionately held Gu Tingyu’s wrist as she spoke.
Gu Tingyu stiffened, not expecting Yiyi to do that, but he quickly relaxed and smiled warmly at her.
Even though they knew they were just acting like affectionate siblings, Yiyi was still very happy and walked forward with Gu Tingyu, beaming.
"Hey... You two don’t look like you’re from our village, are you visiting relatives?"
An elderly man sitting at the village gate asked as he saw them coming.
"Elder Lin, I’m Lin Dizi, and this is my sister Lin Wan’er. You even held us when we were little."
Hearing this, the older man was filled with surprise, "What... You’re Dezi? You’ve grown so much."
At this mont, Yiyi also stepped forward, smiling honestly, "Elder Lin, I’m Wan’er." On the way here, Gu Tingyu had her morize so people and events of Xing Village.
"Ah... So it’s Wan’er, all grown up now."
Elder Lin was full of emotion, "You two have been away for so many years, I never thought you’d co back." But at the end, he was filled with sadness, "Life hasn’t been easy for you two, so young and without parents, you had to beco self-reliant. I heard you went to work in another province, how are things now?"
"Elder Lin, I’m doing fairly well these days with my sister. Though we’re not wealthy, we can at least support ourselves."
Hearing this, Elder Lin nodded with a smile, "That’s good to hear."
"Elder Lin, we’ll head ho now."
Just then, Elder Lin suddenly rembered sothing, "By the way, Dezi, a few of your relatives ca to Xing Village a few days ago. They said they had so affairs here and needed to stay at your place for a few days. If you go now, you might run into them."
"Relatives? What relatives?"
Gu Tingyu looked at Elder Lin with surprise, a question in his eyes.
"I’m not really sure either, but you haven’t been back for so many years, maybe they thought you wouldn’t return, so they’re staying at your place. I can have soone take you over there to introduce you, in case they don’t recognize you all at once."
Upon hearing this, Gu Tingyu quickly said, "Thank you, Elder Lin."
Elder Lin acted quickly and called his eldest grandson over to show them the way. By now, the other villagers also knew that Lin Dizi had returned with his sister.
Elder Lin’s eldest grandson curiously looked at Gu Tingyu and Yiyi.
"I rember you, we used to play together when we were kids. Your looks haven’t changed much; I can still see the shadow of your forr selves in your brows."
Hearing this, Yiyi smiled slightly.
Gu Tingyu had done a fantastic job with their disguise, with just a few tweaks they looked just like the Lin siblings, and no one could see through it.
Upon reaching the old Lin family house, Elder Lin’s eldest grandson went straight up to knock on the door.
"Who’s there..."
As the door opened, soone peeked out and asked.
"Aunt Wu, it’s Dezi and Wan’er who have returned."
Upon hearing this, Aunt Wu was montarily stunned, then delightedly said, "What, it’s Dezi and Wan’er who have returned?" She then looked at Gu Tingyu and Yiyi and hastily asked, "Dezi, Wan’er, is it really you?"
Yiyi had been observing carefully and did not miss the initial daze and confusion from this woman, suggesting that she didn’t know the Lin siblings before.
"Aunt, it’s us, but... May I ask who you are? I don’t think I’ve seen you before." Gu Tingyu looked at Aunt Wu with scrutiny in his eyes.
Elder Lin’s eldest grandson was puzzled, "Well... Isn’t she your aunt?"
