YU JIAO blinked, unsure if she'd heard Luo Yan right. But he just kept smiling at her, and that was enough to confirm he ant every word. So he really thought she matched Luo Ren's ideal type? She couldn't help the smile that tugged at her lips. Once again, she felt grateful to have a friend like Luo Yan.
She knew she didn't actually fit Luo Ren's description, and Luo Yan was probably just boosting her confidence. That's what he always did. Whenever she doubted herself, he'd swoop in to remind her just how 'amazing' she was. His words were like dicine for her shaky self-esteem. And just like always, the negative thoughts in her head faded away.
"You and your complints," she said, shaking her head with a fond smile.
Seeing Yu Jiao's smile, Luo Yan could tell she didn't really believe him. He barely held back a frustrated sigh. When would she finally realize how incredible she was? She was pretty, smart, kind, and talented. With all those qualities, Luo Yan honestly couldn't understand why she couldn't see it herself.
Maybe it was because he'd always been full of self-confidence, sotis even to a fault. But that was just how he was. Pumping himself up was his way of fighting back against his rough start in life. He knew he was more than the labels people gave him, more than just so poor orphan. And hadn't he proved that by getting into a top university and graduating? Sure, he died right after, but that didn't change what he'd accomplished.
But Yu Jiao wasn't like him. She'd spent so long believing she was "less" that it beca her normal. Luo Yan telling her otherwise wouldn't be enough to fix that. He glanced at his brother. Hopefully, Luo Ren could help her better. Though what he'd just done definitely wasn't the way. He needed to be more careful. Not that Luo Yan could really bla him. It wasn't like his brother had brought it up randomly. He'd been asked, so he answered. Still, Luo Yan would have to talk to him about this later.
Seeing Yu Jiao looked like her usual self again, Luo Ren cleared his throat. "Then I'll spin the bottle next."
Luo Ren gave the bottle a quick spin. It turned a few tis before slowing down, wobbling slightly as it ca to a stop. The mouth of the bottle pointed directly at Shen Ji Yun.
"Truth," Shen Ji Yun answered before Luo Ren could even ask.
He knew Luo Ren still wasn't fully comfortable with his relationship with Luo Yan. If he picked 'dare', Luo Ren would absolutely make him do sothing humiliating. He didn't mind looking foolish, but given Luo Ren's track record, whatever he imagined would probably be ta compared to what the other actually ca up with. It would definitely be worse. So yeah, 'truth' was the safer choice.
Luo Ren felt a little disappointed Shen Ji Yun picked truth. He'd already started planning what dare to give him. But since the other chose this, he'd have to settle for asking a question instead.
"Did you ever like anyone before Yan Yan?"
"No," Shen Ji Yun answered without hesitation. The question was easier than he'd expected. His eyes found Luo Yan's, the usual indifference in his gaze lting away. "There was never anyone before Yan Yan. The mont I saw him, I just knew that it's him for . And now? I can't imagine feeling this way about anyone else."
Luo Yan smiled at Shen Ji Yun, his chest feeling warm. He reached over and took the other's hand, giving it a light squeeze. Without making a sound, he mouthed the words ' too'.
"A simple 'yes' or 'no' would've been enough," Luo Jin muttered under his breath.
Yu Jiao's cheeks turned pink. She felt like she'd accidentally witnessed sothing private.
Bai Ze pulled a face, as if the affection on display was physically painful to watch.
Su Yuqi barely reacted, like she'd seen this kind of thing too many tis to care.
Luo Ren just sighed and shook his head. His plan to fluster Shen Ji Yun had backfired. Instead, he ended up envying how easily the other could show his feelings for Luo Yan without hesitation.
After that, Shen Ji Yun leaned forward and gave the bottle a quick spin. It whirled across the floor, slowing in uneven circles before finally wobbling to a stop, the mouth pointing straight at Luo Jin.
"Truth or dare," he asked.
Luo Jin glanced from the bottle to Shen Ji Yun. He thought about picking 'truth'. But knowing Shen Ji Yun, the question might be too heavy. In the end, he went with, "Dare."
Shen Ji Yun hesitated for a mont, unsure what dare to give Luo Jin. Then he rembered what Luo Yan had asked Su Yuqi to do earlier, and how happy it seed to make Luo Jin. So he said:
"Hug soone in this room for a full minute."
Luo Jin froze the mont he heard the dare. His head automatically turned toward Su Yuqi. When she just raised an eyebrow at him, his face burned red. He couldn't make himself lift his arms to hug her. It felt like he'd burst into flas if he tried. Instead, he stiffly stood up and moved behind where Luo Yan was sitting. Dropping to his knees, he wrapped his arms around his brother from behind in a chanical hug.
Shen Ji Yun's eyes shook. No, why was this guy hugging Luo Yan? Shouldn't he be hugging Su Yuqi instead? Luo Yan had specifically said Luo Jin liked Su Yuqi. Wasn't this the perfect opportunity to get closer to the girl he liked?
Luo Yan huffed a laugh, startled at first before giving Luo Jin's arm a light tap. "You should learn to be more shaless, Ah Jin."
"Shut up," Luo Jin grumbled in response.
The ga continued late into the night. They laughed at stupid dares and awkward truths, having way more fun than expected. But when half the group couldn't stop yawning, Luo Ren, as the oldest, finally stopped the ga and sent everyone to bed.
The next day, it was finally ti for the Arcadia Cup's celebration party.
