LUO YAN stepped into the crowded main building. The air inside was thick with the murmur of nervous freshn and the occasional shout of student volunteers trying to direct traffic. That feeling of déjà vu once again hit him.

The Computer Science major registration area was easy to spot. It had a cluster of folding tables set up near the entrance, each manned by tired-looking upperclassn and departnt staff. A handwritten sign taped to the front read, "Computre Science Major Freshn: Have your docunts ready!" in slightly smudged ink.

He joined the line, shuffling forward every few minutes as the queue inched along. Around him, students chatted excitedly, comparing dorm assignnts or complaining about the wait. So were already flipping through the course pamphlets they'd been handed, while others craned their necks to see how much longer it would take for their turn.

When Luo Yan finally reached the front, a staff mber with a frazzled expression held out a hand without looking up.

"Admission letter and ID," she said, her voice flat from repetition. Luo Yan handed them over, watching as she skimd the docunts before tapping sothing into the keyboard in front of her. After a mont, she pulled a few sheets from a printer beside her and slid them across the table. "Registration packet. Check your schedule for errors before you leave. Next stop is ID photos over there."

She pointed vaguely toward a corner of the room where a small crowd had gathered.

The ID station was even more chaotic. A harried-looking photographer was trying to corral students into standing straight while a frazzled assistant fed plastic cards into a laminator.

"No smiling, no hats, look straight ahead," the photographer called out for what was probably the hundredth ti that day.

When it was Luo Yan's turn, the flash went off before he was fully ready, but the photographer just waved him along. "Next!"

A minute later, a warm, freshly laminated student ID was pressed into his hand. "Activate it at the library or any campus kiosk," the assistant said, already turning to the next person in line.

Luo Yan stepped away, tucking the ID and paperwork into his bag. The whole process had taken more than half an hour, but he felt like it took three hours or more. The hassle and bustle, the endless lines, the stuffy air in the crowded hall, and the constant shuffling from one station to another had stretched each minute into what almost felt like an eternity.

The chatter of hundreds of students, the occasional shouts from staff directing the crowd, and the oppressive late-sumr heat clinging to the room made everything feel sluggish and draining. By the ti he finished, his back was stiff from standing, and his patience had worn thin, but at least this part was over.

Just as he was about to leave the building, his phone buzzed in his pocket. He pulled it out and saw Shen Ji Yun's na flashing on the screen for an incoming call. A smile spread across Luo Yan's face as he tapped to answer.

"Hello, Brother Ji Yun," he answered.

"Yan Yan, I just got to campus. Where are you?" Shen Ji Yun asked. "Are you already here too? Do you need help moving into your dorm? What about registration, have you finished?"

Luo Yan chuckled. "Yes, I'm already on campus. I've already moved to the dorm, and I just finished registration."

The other fell quiet for a second, and Luo Yan could already picture Shen Ji Yun pouting over missing the chance to help. But just as quickly, he responded firmly and steadily.

"Are you still in the main building? Please, wait for there. I'm on my way."

"Okay, I'll be waiting."

The call ended, and Luo Yan moved to the side of the entrance, making sure he wasn't blocking other students coming in and out of the building.

Just a minute after, he felt a couple of gazes landing on him. No one had really stared at him when he was completing his registration. Probably because everyone was busy doing their own thing. But now that the students walking out of the building had finished their registration, they finally had ti to pay attention to their surroundings.

He wasn't sure if the stares were because people recognized him as Noctis or simply because they thought he was too beautiful. Either way, it didn't bother him. As long as they kept their distance and didn't swarm him, they could look all they wanted. It would be a waste not to let them appreciate his beauty, after all.

It wasn't long before a familiar voice called out to him. "Yan Yan!"

He turned toward the sound and saw Shen Ji Yun running in his direction. The other looked like he was about to hug him but stopped himself just in ti.

This made Luo Yan smile. He looked at Shen Ji Yun. The other was wearing a lightweight white linen shirt with the sleeves neatly rolled up to his elbows and slim-fit black trousers. His blue eyes looked almost translucent under the harsh sunlight, like ice lting against sumr pavent.

Ah, his boyfriend was really too handso.

"Are you done with registration?" Shen Ji Yun asked, his face practically begging, Please tell there's still sothing I can help with.

Luo Yan smiled. "Yes, but I still need to activate my student ID card."

Shen Ji Yun finally smiled. "Then I'll take you to the library."

Side by side, the two of them started walking. ɴᴇᴡ ɴᴏᴠᴇʟ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀs ᴀʀᴇ ᴘᴜʙʟɪsʜᴇᴅ ᴏɴ novel•fire

"By the way, where are Uncle Tian and your brothers?" Shen Ji Yun asked after a mont.

"They left after helping move into my dorm."

Shen Ji Yun raised an eyebrow. "Just like that?"

Luo Yan chuckled. "Not exactly. It took a lot of convincing."

Shen Ji Yun nodded. He had expected nothing less. It was easy to picture the three Luo n standing inside a dorm room, looking thoroughly unwilling to leave when Luo Yan told them to go.

"Have you t your roommates?"

"Yes, but it's actually just a roommate," Luo Yan said. "They assigned to a two-person dorm."
