THE first month of the sester passed quickly, almost without him noticing. Luo Yan settled into a peaceful routine as a university student for the second ti around. Not having to worry about money made everything easier. He could focus completely on his classes without the constant stress he rembered from his past life. He t a lot of new people in his courses and ended up befriending a few of them. They would study together sotis or grab food between lectures. His roommate from the dorms, Zhen Yihan, would ssage him regularly to hang out, and they made sure to et up at least once a week.
His days fell into an easy rhythm. There were classes during the week, study sessions with new friends, and catching up with his roommate. And of course, there were dates with Shen Ji Yun. They would et up whenever their schedules lined up, sotis just for a quick coffee, other tis for longer afternoons together.
On weekends when he didn't have projects or assignnts due, he mostly stayed at the Bai mansion. He would spend ti with his grandfather, sitting with him in the garden or just keeping him company. His little cousin Bai Ye would always find him, demanding attention and dragging him off to play.
Surprisingly, nothing happened on the Shen family side. Luo Yan had been expecting sothing, maybe a call or a confrontation of so kind. He had spent the first week after the shooting range incident ntally preparing himself for whatever might co. But nothing ca. Not a single ssage or reaction. During that first week, he still felt a little on edge, waiting for the other shoe to drop. But by the second week, it beca clear that Shen Xin had kept his mouth shut. He had told no one about what he saw. Luo Yan finally let himself relax after that.
And with that, the Mid-Autumn Festival finally arrived.
Mid-Autumn Festival fell on Monday, October 6 this year. But since it was so close to National Day on October 1, the two holidays were combined into one long break. The entire country called it Golden Week, a full eight days of holiday from October 1 to October 8.
That ant Luo Yan and all the other students would have a full week off from classes. It also ant he could spend more ti with his father and brothers. They would all be coming to B City for the holiday.
And that was why he was currently sitting in a car on the way to the airport. Bai Ze was driving. They were going to pick up his father and brothers.
They arrived at the airport and Bai Ze found a spot to park. They walked inside together and made their way to the arrival area for dostic flights. Rows of seats faced a large digital board displaying flight statuses. They found a spot near the barriers where passengers would co out and waited.
They didn't have to wait long. Luo Yan spotted the familiar, handso figure of his father walking through the arrival gate first. He had a small carry-on bag slung over one shoulder. Right behind him ca his older brother Luo Ren, pulling a dium-sized suitcase. Trailing just a step behind was Luo Jin, struggling a bit with a large duffel bag and a second suitcase.
Luo Yan waved to get their attention. He and Bai Ze walked over, weaving through the crowd of other people greeting arriving passengers.
As they got closer, he saw his father's eyes brighten the mont the other spotted him. When they were just a few steps away, his father stepped forward and quickly pulled him into a tight hug.
"I missed you, Xiao Yan," his father said in a warm voice.
Luo Yan chuckled softly and hugged his father back just as tightly. "I missed you too, Dad."
After his father finally let go, Luo Yan turned to his brothers. He hugged Luo Ren first.
"I missed you, Brother," Luo Yan said.
Luo Ren patted his back. "I missed you too, Yan Yan."
Then Luo Yan moved to Luo Jin and pulled him in for a hug.
"Hey, Ah Jin," Luo Yan said.
Luo Jin hugged him back. "Hey, Yan."
After the greetings, Bai Ze stepped forward and reached for the bag his uncle was carrying. "Here, let take that for you, Uncle."
"Thank you, Ah Ze," Luo Wei Tian said to his nephew, giving the other's shoulder a firm pat.
As they started walking towards the exit, Luo Wei Tian asked Bai Ze about his father and the rest of the family. Bai Ze gave a quick update, letting his uncle know everyone was doing well.
Luo Wei Tian glanced at his son. Luo Yan looked happy. University life was clearly treating him well. Truth be told, Luo Wei Tian had been worried when Luo Yan decided to study here in B City. Even knowing he was staying with Bai Chen and his family, it wasn't the sa as having him in the sa city. If sothing happened, he couldn't just rush over. But seeing his son now, clearly thriving, he let that worry go. Luo Yan was doing well. That was all that mattered.
Just like his father, Luo Ren felt the sa. He was genuinely glad to see his younger brother doing so well. But he also knew that a big part of that happiness ca from Shen Ji Yun. It was annoying to admit, but he was slowly learning to accept it. No matter how much he wanted to complain, that guy was clearly going to be part of Luo Yan's life from now on. Unless, of course, he ever hurt Luo Yan. If that happened, Luo Ren would personally make sure Shen Ji Yun was cut out of his brother's life for good.
They reached the large SUV that Bai Ze had driven to the airport. Bai Ze popped open the trunk, and they loaded all the luggage inside. Once everything was secured, they all climbed into the vehicle. Bai Ze got behind the wheel and pulled out of the parking lot, heading toward the Bai family mansion.
