Blinded by the sudden flash of headlights at close range, Qin Chu was completely bewildered. In that critical mont between life and death, he simply froze, his foot jamd on the brake! His pupils dilated, frozen in terror. Life and death seed to be decided in that single instant!
On the roadside, countless fleeing pedestrians shrieked in fear.
With the truck barreling down at no less than eighty kiloters per hour, all the onlookers could already picture the rcedes being crushed to scrap.
But in the blink of an eye, the script was flipped completely.
With a series of deafening POPS, the dump truck’s tires exploded simultaneously! A sharp hissing sound followed imdiately.
The blowout caused the dump truck to lose control. Just a few ters from the rcedes, it suddenly swerved and crashed into the roadside greenbelt. Amid a thunderous roar, it plowed through countless objects before finally slamming to a halt against a thick, old tree.
"Surround him!" several n in the crowd shouted hoarsely, their voices filled with rage.
In an instant, almost everyone on the road rushed over to surround the truck.
The thunderous crash finally jolted the terrified Qin Chu from his daze, and his body began to tremble. Instinctively, rage filled his chest, and he moved to open the car door to get out.
"Qin Chu!" Wei Shuying called out urgently from the back seat.
Qin Chu reflexively turned his head.
Before he could speak, Wei Shuying said, "Let it go. We weren’t hit; it was just a close call. Don’t go over there! The crowd will call the police. Let them handle it!"
"Right, Dad, listen to Mom! It’s getting late, let’s just go ho. The less trouble, the better!" Qin Fan added, his brow furrowed slightly.
"That bastard! How the hell was he driving? If that truck had really hit us, our whole family would’ve died right here!" Qin Chu said, panting heavily with anger, feeling as though he had just returned from the Ghost Gate.
"There have been news stories about out-of-control dump trucks on this road section before. I never thought we’d actually experience it. Thankfully, it was just a scare. Let’s go! Phew!" Wei Shuying said, her tone still a bit strained as she patted Qin Chu’s shoulder, clearly still shaken.
"Alright, I guess we were lucky to get out of that alive! I’ll listen to you. Let’s go!" After speaking, Qin Chu released the accelerator, and the rcedes slowly turned and continued on its way.
「An hour later.」
At their ho in the urban village, the tension from the auction had been followed by the terrifying incident with the dump truck. At Qin Fan’s urging, Qin Chu and Wei Shuying had taken an early shower and retired to their bedroom to rest.
In the spacious living room, the television volu was turned down low. However, Qin Fan, sitting on the sofa, wasn’t paying any attention to the TV.
His mind replayed the scene from an hour ago.
A sinister, cold smile slowly crept across his face.
Whether the dump truck’s appearance was an accident or intentional was sothing he no longer needed to ponder. Just monts before, my Divine Sense had clearly perceived that the driver had no intention of braking. On the contrary, his sole purpose was to crash into the rcedes. If I hadn’t caused the truck’s tires to blow out and send it spiraling out of control in that split second, the outco would have been a foregone conclusion. The rcedes would have been absolutely pulverized!
"Qin Shuai is Qin Shuai, alright. But is this all he can take?" Qin Fan muttered to himself in the dead silence, clenching his teeth in a cold sneer.
To be able to arrange for a dump truck to target my family in such a short amount of ti... I didn’t need to think twice to know it was Qin Shuai’s doing. I had fully expected Qin Shuai to retaliate, but I never thought it would co so quickly, so suddenly, and with such viciousness! A dump truck hurtling towards us at over eighty kiloters per hour was a clear attempt to murder my entire family of three. Qin Shuai had resorted to such a thod over a re conflict at an auction. It had to be said that I had still underestimated the man. I had underestimated his tolerance, and even more, his ruthlessness!
"Heh!" Twirling a lighter between his fingers with a flourish, Qin Fan bit his lip and sneered, "So you want my life, is that it? Very well. Let the gas officially begin!"
DING!
Just as Qin Fan finished his thought, the phone beside him pinged with a text ssage notification.
He picked it up. It was from Ma Yunbin. "Boss Qin, are you asleep? Can I tempt you to co out for a chat?"
The lighter spinning between his fingers ca to a halt.
Qin Fan imdiately called the number back.
"Boss Qin! I was afraid I’d disturb your rest, so I didn’t dare call you directly, hehe!" Ma Yunbin’s voice on the other end was sycophantic, completely lacking the arrogant, swaggering deanor of the rich young master he had displayed at the auction.
"Where?" Qin Fan asked succinctly, wasting no words.
"The Seventh Dinsion!" Ma Yunbin replied quickly, overjoyed that Qin Fan had actually agreed.
"Isn’t that a brand of sanitary pads?" Qin Fan frowned.
Uh—Sanitary pads? Crap...
"Ahem, Boss Qin, Seven Degrees Space is the sanitary pad brand. I’m talking about The Seventh Dinsion! You can find it on any map app, or should I co pick you up?" Ma Yunbin said, fighting to keep the awkwardness out of his voice as he corrected him.
"Oh," Qin Fan said, completely unfazed. "No need. I’ll make my own way there. That’s all."
He hung up imdiately, stood up from the sofa, and reinforced the defensive formations around the house before quietly slipping out.
「At the sa ti.」
In a high-end den of vice sowhere in Jiangzhou, Qin Shuai pushed away a sultry woman who was grinding against him and answered an incoming call. "What the fuck did you just say?" he demanded, his brow furrowed in anger.
"Young Master Qin, we failed!" the man on the other end of the line stamred.
"Give a satisfactory explanation!" Qin Shuai growled, his breathing heavy as fury surged through him.
"Young Master Qin, it was an accident! Out of nowhere, the dump truck’s tire blew out and it crashed into the greenbelt. It damaged a lot of street vendors’ property, and the driver was injured on the spot. Those vendors surrounded him and called the police. Now he’s in the hospital under police guard, waiting to regain consciousness!" The man paused, then continued hesitantly, "Young Master Qin, should we proceed with the plan? We can have soone sneak in and take care of them directly!"
Qin Shuai was silent for a full five seconds.
Finally, he shook his head and sighed. "Forget it. Since they managed to escape this disaster, let them bounce around for a few more days. There’s no rush. Acting too rashly would look bad and be difficult to explain later."
"Understood. I’ll await your instructions, Young Master Qin," the man on the phone replied. Just as he finished speaking, he quickly added, "Young Master Qin, we just got word that Qin Fan has appeared at The Seventh Dinsion. Should we make a move on him?"
"He’s at The Seventh Dinsion? Who is he with?" Qin Shuai’s eyes narrowed dangerously.
"We don’t know yet. He’s probably eting soone. But in a place like The Seventh Dinsion, whoever he’s eting must be of limited status! Should we grab him?"
"No rush! Heh! The Seventh Dinsion, is it? Keep an eye on him! Don’t let him get away. Wait for to get there," Qin Shuai said, licking his lips with a cold, sinister smile. Without waiting for a response, he hung up.
He then yanked the sultry woman he had just pushed away, pulling her between his spread legs.
Taking the hint, she purred, "Young Master Qin, you’re so naughty," then seductively unzipped his fly.
She lowered her head and leaned in.
