「Returning from Dianbai to Jiangzhou.」
For seven consecutive days, Qin Fan vanished without a trace, as if he had evaporated from the Human World. Nobody knew where he was or had seen him. Even his phone remained off the entire ti. Fortunately, Qin Fan had sought Principal Tao Yuan’s help to deal with his parents. Otherwise, Qin Chu and Wei Shuying would have been frantic with worry during those seven days.
He was in the sa rented apartnt that he used for Alchemy and Talisman Making. For a full seven days, Qin Fan didn’t take a single step outside. Even he was sowhat taken aback by the length of ti. He had initially thought that absorbing the True Yuan from the Crystal Core would take two days at most, but it held an unexpected surprise for him. He’d never have imagined that the Jiao Dragon was actually a hybrid of a dragon and a jiao. Half of the energy within the Crystal Core was that of a true dragon!
After seven days, the motionless Qin Fan finally opened his eyes, feeling the residual Dragon Energy from his cultivation lingering in the room. With a wildly ecstatic expression, he murmured to himself, "Late Stage Qi Refinent! I’ve actually broken through to the Late Stage of Qi Refinent! To think it was a dragon-jiao hybrid! Since a mixed breed like that can exist, it seems dragons really do exist on Earth!"
Suppressing his excitent, Qin Fan stood up. As he rose, a floating sensation spread throughout his body. This feeling alone showcased the vast difference in power between the early and late stages of Qi Refinent! Breathing out a long, leisurely sigh, Qin Fan finally opened the apartnt door and walked out.
He took out his phone and turned it on. Instantly, dozens of missed calls and ssages popped up. The majority were from Ji Yuchen. Aside from a few calls from his parents on the first day, the rest were from Ye Jizu and his son.
When he arrived ho and saw that his parents weren’t there, Qin Fan didn’t bother going inside. He walked to the roadside, casually hailed a taxi, and headed straight for Qi Middle School.
"Qin Fan! Qin Fan has appeared!"
"He’s like a Divine Dragon—you see the head but never the tail!"
"How can the school let him get away with this?"
"What on earth happened to that little bastard?"
"Now that this psycho is back, Qi Middle School’s peace is over!"
The mont Qin Fan’s figure appeared at Qi Middle School, a buzz of discussion erupted. Countless students looked at him with completely different eyes, and many even began to give him a wide berth.
However, Qin Fan remained indifferent to their stares and reactions. With a sunny smile on his face and his hands tucked stylishly in his pockets, he walked into the classroom of Class Seven.
"Qin Fan! Where have you been this whole week?" As soon as Qin Fan stepped into the classroom, Ji Yuchen sprang up from her seat, her face alight with eager joy. The mont the words left her mouth, however, she felt they were inappropriate, and her pretty face flushed uncontrollably.
"Nowhere special. I just had so things to deal with, so I took a few days off," Qin Fan replied with a slight smile, offering no further explanation as he sat down in his seat.
Ji Yuchen felt a pang of frustration at his reaction. It feels like my warm welco was t with a cold shoulder.
After a mont’s thought, she bit her lip, seemingly having made up her mind. She suddenly stood up, circled around the desks, and walked over to Qin Fan’s seat.
"What’s up? Do you need sothing?" Qin Fan looked up. Although a smile was on his face, his eyes showed no particular interest in Ji Yuchen, one of the four great beauties of Qi Middle School.
"Qin Fan, did sothing happen to you? I couldn’t reach your phone for a week, and you didn’t reply to any of my texts!" Letting go of her reserve, Ji Yuchen ignored the astonished and bewildered looks from those around her and pursed her small lips as she spoke.
"What could have happened? Don’t overthink it. I only just turned on my phone and saw your missed calls and texts. I figured I’d see you at school, so I didn’t bother replying," Qin Fan said.
For so reason, hearing Qin Fan’s perfect explanation, Ji Yuchen couldn’t help but reveal a knowing smile. She no longer dwelled on why he had disappeared for a week. Instead, she said, "Qin Fan, I have sothing to ask you. I hope you’ll say yes!"
"Hmm?" Qin Fan’s brow furrowed slightly before he broke into a broad smile. "Go ahead. As long as it’s sothing I can do, it’s all good."
"My birthday is the day after tomorrow! I’m planning to have a barbecue party at my house. Would you co?" Ji Yuchen asked with eager anticipation, blinking her bright, clear eyes.
"The day after tomorrow? Sure!" Without a second thought, Qin Fan agreed.
"Great, then it’s a date! I’ll let you go for now; the teacher is here. I’m heading back to my seat!" Like a child who had just received candy, Ji Yuchen smiled joyfully and quickly darted back to her seat amid the dumbfounded stares of her classmates. Once seated, she didn’t forget to give Qin Fan a coquettish wink.
This made Qin Fan smile wryly to himself.
Just then, the horoom teacher walked into the classroom. His eyes instinctively darted toward Qin Fan. eting the teacher’s gaze, Qin Fan gave him a practiced smile and a nod, which left the man feeling a bit perplexed. How could he not know about Qin Fan’s recent notoriety at Qi Middle School?
He, more than anyone else in Qi Middle School, was shocked by the complete turnaround in Qin Fan’s temperant. First, Qin Fan had caused one incident after another among the students. Then, Principal Tao Yuan himself had approved his leave, even stating that Qin Fan was free to attend class or not, with no need to mark his absence or record any derits. What on earth had happened for the principal to treat a student with such an attitude? The horoom teacher didn’t know the details, but one thing was clear: Qin Fan had changed. He was no longer the self-deprecating, head-down castaway of the Qin family.
Letting out a soft breath, the teacher responded to Qin Fan’s smile and nod with a light chuckle and a nod of his own. He then moved to the center of the podium and said, "Alright, class, let’s skip the small talk. The college entrance exam is fast approaching, and at this point, there’s not much more we teachers can teach you. What you’ll be facing next is a series of mock exams, and that series starts today!"
After those brief words, the teacher divided the exam papers into four stacks for the students to pass back. The students, having known about the mock exams for a week, weren’t surprised. After receiving their papers, the classroom fell silent, filled only with the rustling of furious writing.
"Qin Fan, there’s still over a month before the college entrance exam! You still have a chance if you study hard, so don’t put too much pressure on yourself!" Noticing Qin Fan staring blankly at the paper on his desk, the horoom teacher walked down from the podium, patted his shoulder, and gently consoled him.
Huh? Pressure? Why would I feel pressure over a simple test paper? Qin Fan couldn’t help but smile wryly to himself. The reason he was staring at the paper was that he was contemplating whether or not to aim for a perfect score.
"Haha, I understand, Teacher!" Qin Fan let out a light laugh, picked up his pen, and began to write.
To avoid adding any unnecessary stress, the horoom teacher didn’t linger by his side.
