i Lijuan was horrified to witness this disastrous turn of events unfold before her eyes. Her hands trembled uncontrollably at her sides, betraying the fear she desperately tried to suppress. She prayed fervently that Bai Xifeng would never discover the truth that these n were, in fact, her subordinates.
anwhile, Bai Xifeng had already collected the elixir and stored it safely. Even though she still felt a searing pain inside her body, she forced herself to walk toward one of the fallen n in black. She then squatted down in front of him, her gaze turning icy and filled with intimidation.
"Who sent you?" Bai Xifeng asked coldly.
None of them offered an answer. They were t only with a heavy, suffocating silence. Bai Xifeng clicked her tongue in annoyance. It seed she would need to pry their mouths open by force to obtain the answers she required.
Without hesitation, Bai Xifeng took out a small vial and poured its contents directly into the mouth of one of the n in black. Naturally, the man struggled violently, but Bai Xifeng had already pinned him down with surprising strength. The man could do nothing except swallow the mysterious liquid that was being forced down his throat.
At that mont, Si Tang approached Bai Xifeng cautiously.
"Lady Bai... Are you alright?" Si Tang asked with concern.
"Hmm..." Bai Xifeng nodded slightly in response.
"What did you give to that man?" Si Tang inquired, her curiosity piqued by the strange liquid.
"You will know soon enough." Bai Xifeng said, a chilling smile playing on her lips as she watched the man.
A second later, the man in black began to struggle violently. He let out a series of blood-curdling screams, the sound so sharp and piercing that it startled everyone standing nearby.
"Please... forgive... ..." The man in black clothes begged, gasping desperately for air as he looked at Bai Xifeng.
The other n in black stared at their comrade in absolute horror. They did not know what was causing him such agony, and they were terrified to find out.
"Please... make it... stop..." The black clothes man pleaded once more in a trembling voice.
"I can make it stop, but you have to tell everything." Bai Xifeng said with a faint smile as she looked at him.
"Yes... I... will... tell... you... everything..." The black clothes man agreed desperately, unable to endure the pain any longer.
"Very well. But if you dare to lie to , I can make the pain return instantly. Keep that in mind." Bai Xifeng warned, her gaze piercing straight into the black clothes man’s soul.
"Yes..." The black clothes man nodded weakly.
Bai Xifeng took out another glass jar and poured its contents into the black clothes man’s mouth to neutralise the pain almost imdiately.
"Now... Tell . Who is trying to kill you?" Bai Xifeng asked.
"It is that woman." The black clothes man said with his trembling finger pointing directly at i Lijuan.
In an instant, every eye in the room turned toward i Lijuan, their gazes heavy with suspicion and scrutiny.
i Lijuan was startled, her face turning deathly pale. "No... No... No... It is not ," she said, shaking her head frantically in denial.
"I knew it! You are trying to kill Lady Bai because I invited her to cure my mother. You are afraid that your position will be in danger if my mother recovers!" Si Tang shouted in a fit of rage, unable to hold back her anger.
"Si Tang..." Si Wuntian called out, raising his voice as he attempted to intervene and calm the situation.
"What? Are you trying to protect her now?" Si Tang responded, her eyes flashing as she stared sharply at her father.
"No... I an... You need to calm down. We must investigate this matter properly first. You cannot simply take the word of a criminal like that." Si Wuntian said in a asured and reasonable tone.
i Lijuan felt a wave of relief wash over her when she saw that Si Wuntian appeared to take her side. Seizing the opportunity, she imdiately adopted a sorrowful expression and turned toward Si Tang.
"Si Tang... I know that you resent because I am your father’s concubine. But I truly have no intention of harming your mother. I, too, wish for your mother to recover and be healthy again." i Lijuan said with the voice dripping with carefully crafted, false sincerity.
"You really know how to twist words. Fine... I will investigate it." Si Tang said through gritted teeth. Her eyes burned with intensity as she looked at i Lijuan. "If I find that you are involved in this matter, I will make sure you are never able to stand tall again. I don’t care what my father says. Mark my words."
i Lijuan clenched her fists tightly beneath the folds of her robe. She knew that Si Tang was not bluffing. This girl ant every single word she said. At that mont, she realised that she desperately needed help from that person.
While i Lijuan was secretly plotting how to send out a ssage, Bai Xifeng continued to scrutinise her silently. It seed that Si Tang’s instincts were correct, and the man’s confession was indeed the truth. These n had been sent by i Lijuan to sabotage any chance of Si Tang’s mother being healed.
Bai Xifeng was not the type to be rciful toward those who sought her life. ’i Lijuan, just you wait,’ she thought grimly.
Turning back to Si Tang, she noted that the three elixirs were ready. It was ti for the treatnt to begin.
"Lady Tang, let your mother take the elixirs first." Bai Xifeng said.
