Thump.

Thump. Thump.

Luca’s heart was loud.

Too loud.

It thundered in his chest like a drumline, pounding against Xavier’s just as fiercely. He wasn’t sure when it started, only that it had no plans of slowing down.

But what startled him most wasn’t his own heartbeat.

It was the one beneath his palm. He’d heard it before, but knowing that it wasn’t a one-ti thing was sothing else.

Pressed directly against Xavier’s chest, just over his heart—steady, yes, but fast. Just like his.

They were in sync, almost as if their bodies had aligned first before either of them caught up to what this mont really was.

So close it made the air thin.

So close it made thoughts impossible.

His face hovered there, barely a breath away. Their foreheads nearly touched, the tips of their noses occasionally brushing against each other.

And those eyes?

Those deep and steady eyes sohow held him like he was sothing fragile. Sothing precious.

It was dizzying.

Luca could feel the warm ghost of his breath along his cheek, hot and damp and magnetic.

And yet the prince said nothing, did nothing, just waited, as if waiting for Luca to figure things out.

anwhile, the little chipmunk’s small hand rested quietly over Xavier’s chest, fingers curling almost imperceptibly into his shirt, like Luca needed sothing to hold onto. The motion was slight but sparked like a live wire, sending a shiver rippling across the prince’s skin, sharp and electric.

It was intensely needy, and Xavier fought to keep his restraints intact.

The little guide’s voice cracked when he finally spoke.

"If I...wanted to kiss you..."

"Would that be okay...?"

Xavier’s eyes softened, then his lips curved into sothing so striking it nearly hurt to look at.

He didn’t nod. Instead, he leaned forward—not much, but close enough that a single nudge would land him there.

But he didn’t complete it; he hovered before saying, "More than okay."

And that undid sothing in the little guide. Suddenly, he was like a magnet itching to stick.

Then, with a shallow breath, Luca bridged the distance.

Their lips brushed.

It was like a whisper, but the mont it happened, Xavier exhaled like he’d decompressed his existence.

Luca thought his heart might stop.

But instead, it surged harder.

He kissed Xavier again. This ti, a little bolder, a little longer.

And Xavier took it as a signal.

He tilted his head and deepened the kiss, not with force, but with need, slow and deliberate. The kind of kiss that didn’t beg to be returned. It simply asked to be rembered.

Luca’s eyes fluttered shut.

His breath hitched, and his body trembled slightly as Xavier’s hand slid up the curve of his back.

Steady. Anchoring.

The prince’s other hand rose, cupping the side of Luca’s neck with such care that it made Luca lt. His thumb brushed gently over warm skin, tracing slow, comforting lines just under his ear.

And it zinged everywhere he touched, those cool fingers giving his heated body the reprieve it’s been itching for.

But it was certainly ironic, because the sa fingers that should have been cooling his body had gotten him this heated and this unsettled.

And by the ti they broke apart, they were both breathless.

Luca’s eyes opened to the prince’s captivating face.

He blinked, dazed, cheeks flushed deep pink, lips parted as if to say sothing—but nothing ca out.

Xavier understood. He was the sa.

Their foreheads pressed together, breath mingling, both of them hovering in that space of not-quite-finished.

Then their eyes t again.

Luca’s golden gaze flickered up, wide, overwheld, wanting.

And Xavier, seeing that silent plea, moved again.

There was no hesitation this ti.

He kissed him again, but this ti—

There was fire.

It started slow, but quickly burned hotter. Deeper.

Luca gasped softly into his mouth—and that was all the permission Xavier needed.

Their lips parted just enough.

Then their tongues t—tentative at first, just a taste, a slow press.

Then deeper.

The heat blood instantly.

Xavier kissed him like a man starved. Like he’d been holding back for far too long.

And Luca responded with pure instinct.

One hand rose, sliding into Xavier’s hair, fingers tangling through long white strands that felt like silk, gripping just enough to pull him closer.

The other hand braced against Xavier’s shoulder, holding tight as his chest spiraled with heat and sound and sensation.

Xavier groaned—soft but low—as Luca’s fingers tugged a little harder, and he tilted his wife’s chin with his hand, deepening the kiss again.

Their mouths moved together as if knowing they’d always fit perfectly.

The feeling ca out of nowhere, all the weakened guide could do was moan into him, small, helpless, and Xavier swallowed the sound like it was sacred.

Tongues slid against each other, exploring, tasting, learning. It wasn’t perfect—they were still new to this—but Xavier guided him through every movent.

Every tilt.

Every pull.

Every sigh.

And every ti their lips broke apart for air, they returned just a second later—hungrier, softer, then deeper again.

Luca’s mind was empty.

He really had no thoughts and no plans.

Just heat. And his husband. And the way they couldn’t stop touching.

Oh, and maybe Xavier’s scent that was now stronger than ever, and his hair that he’d always wanted to touch.

Ah. Maybe it wasn’t so blank after all.

But when Xavier’s hand slipped under the back of his shirt, not in a way that sought anything further, just skin, Luca shuddered.

Warmth blossod in his chest.

And the softened milk ball reveled in this connection. Especially seeking Xavier’s palm, which spread across his spine as if morizing his line.

No one pulled back.

He kissed Xavier again, more eagerly this ti.

Their noses bumped. Their breathing staggered.

But neither of them cared.

Because it felt good.

It felt like every barrier had been torn down between them.

When they parted again, they stayed close.

Their lips hovered, damp and swollen.

Breath catching between them.

Their chests rose and fell in sync, matching almost perfectly as if acknowledging sothing that even the mind couldn’t.

Luca’s hands were still tangled in Xavier’s hair, the white strands spilling like silk between his fingers.

But the prince just let him be, let him touch, let him look, let him take.

And Luca felt rather powerful like this, even as he breathed heavily and his heart pounded like it was ready to leap off his chest.

"Luca," Xavier said, voice low and hoarse, his thumb still brushing along the soft curve of Luca’s jaw.

"This...this is how I pine for you."

"Oh."

Ohhh.

No wonder they couldn’t be alone.

For under him was a hardness so pronounced he’d have to be floating not to notice.
