Well, maybe it would have been better if Luca had incapacitated the Prince earlier, if only so he wouldn’t have to experience everything that followed.

Because truly, with a friend like this, who even needed enemies?

It was a thought painfully applicable to one unsuspecting Orcish Princess, but even more so to one especially distressed Elven Prince who very nearly hastened his own demise the mont the door opened with a bang.

Alright, to be fair, it wasn’t exactly a bang but more like a whoosh.

The door was automated, after all. But it might as well have been a bang with how everything that followed exploded.

__

Backed against the wall, the Elven Prince, who was still struggling against his stubbornly insistent aide, was seriously contemplating shoving his fingers up Rahil’s nostrils.

He didn’t dare use his spiritual abilities. Not after learning that he was literally missing essential parts and was, by all definitions, an actually ill being. Under such circumstances, desperation led one to truly creative solutions.

Sure, he likely would never live it down, especially now that there was apparently a new spectator, but at least he might live long enough to demand an explanation about why everyone was so eager to cut him open.

"Look. This is for your own good!" Rahil insisted, having the audacity to say that when he was not the one being discussed like a specin.

"Sure," Elior grunted, gripping Rahil’s face and pushing back. "Provided you are fine with letting them try it on you first, then I will cooperate!"

If pushing did not work, then he would headbutt the son of a gun.

Ideally, that was a solid plan.

But just before he could land a hit, the door that had stubbornly remained shut suddenly slid open.

Before Elior could even turn his head to see who had entered, he heard a sharp gasp, a muttered curse, and then a screech so powerful it made his bones vibrate.

"LUCIO MONTBLANC!"

The na traveled straight from his toes to his brain.

He was going to die today.

And yet, instead of dying imdiately, the voice he had longed to hear directly continued screaming.

"You! How dare you do this to !"

Elior felt that deep in his chest. His whole body throbbed as if struck.

His beloved sounded genuinely hurt. And it was rightfully his fault.

Elior didn’t even have an excuse for that.

But just when his body had practically gone limp on its own and his grip on Rahil had loosened, he heard her continue.

"How dare you wall slam each other without seeing!"

Huh?

"..."

"..."

Yes.

Sure enough, Elior was quite certain he should have simply ended Rahil when he had the chance.

__

It was the second day of the expo, and the hall was livelier than ever.

People rushed back and forth, children gathered in suspicious little clusters whispering about what sounded like the secrets of the universe, and no one could deny that the Annual Expo was the place to be. Especially one particular booth that seed to draw everyone in.

So scrambled for free samples. Others collapsed in dramatic pain as the wheel decided their fate for the day. Still more tearfully called their families, breathless as they tried to explain their sudden good fortune.

It was truly a sight that would be rembered for years to co.

At that mont, however, aside from praying for blessings and sudden strokes of luck, several visitors began to wonder if there was an unexpected ergency.

The ground trembled.

Once.

Twice.

It felt like the warning signs of an incoming quake.

"Did you feel that?"

A man near the edge of the booth paused mid-step, brow furrowing as he shifted his weight and glanced at the floor.

"I swear the ground just... moved."

Another custor frowned, stamping his foot lightly as if testing it. "It’s not just you. I felt sothing too. Like a rumble."

Soone pulled out their terminal. "Hold on. Let check Star Net, if there’s a quake, then they would have issued a notice."

Well, they weren’t entirely wrong.

However, it just wasn’t a natural disaster.

It was an Orcish Princess stepping forward with the gusto of a hundred golems.

Another tremor followed.

Rahil could feel it through his knees, though he couldn’t quite tell if the shaking ca from the ground or from his own teeth clattering.

Probably both.

Especially since he was still reeling from how the Princess had just "handled" them.

It had taken no ti at all for both elves to end up on their knees. In fact, it was mainly because they decided there was no other position they could take that would encapsulate their guilt.

Actually, if there had been any more space available, they would have wiped the floor with their faces.

At this point, who would care about saving face for the elven race?

Certainly not them, who couldn’t possibly take long before being disposed of under the hands of such a capable Princess.

But as expected, with everything happening so fast, it also didn’t take long for questions to be fired.

Rahil swallowed hard, silently wondering whether his master possessed the right combination of tongue and temperant to survive what was coming.

He hoped so.

Because if his boss failed here, illness would be the least of their worries. The odds of dying from this felt significantly higher.

What truly surprised Rahil, however, was the very first question hurled at Elior.

"How could you make record an alibi for your other fiancée?!"

Wait.

What?

Rahil blinked.

Judging by Elior’s expression, his master had not been expecting that either.

What about the part where he had vanished without a word?

Or the part where he was very clearly not human?

Or the small detail that his na was not Lucio Montblanc at all, but Elior Severin Aetheryon?

And what about why he had appeared now, after all these months?

Rahil’s mind spun with an entire dramatic saga he had long feared would unfold one day.

Yet sohow, none of this was happening in the order he had imagined.
