Now reading: Chapter 962: Drilling Holes from The Royal Military Academy's Impostor Owns a Dungeon [BL], a Yaoi novel by Kairie.

Now, could anyone really bla those with a respectable sense of urgency and a strong instinct for self-preservation when they couldn’t help but question why Luca believed such pieces would make such excellent jewelry?

Because when the golden-eyed heir said that stringing several pearls together would make for great bracelets, the people who had ears almost collapsed.

"What?!"

To be fair, just one piece would probably feel like wearing a whole mine’s worth of Star Coins in itself. And that was considering the fact that soone would actually need to assign a value to sothing so out of this world.

But to speak about stringing them together?

Like, actually more than just one?

Absolutely bonkers.

Not that those people from quite literally the most influential families of the surviving universe had never heard of jewels and incredibly precious stones. They definitely had. In fact, the people listening to Luca probably had the biggest repositories out there.

But none of them, maybe save for the elders, had ever really seen a pearl.

Much less a pearl that seed to have grown with layer upon layer of material that radiated such strong spiritual energy.

Then again, even if soone managed to find oysters anywhere else in the universe, would there even be pearls as good as the ones Xavier kept extracting from those inconspicuous mollusks?

Probably not.

Forget about the mirror-like luster and that practically flawless surface. This was the kind of precious gem that could be appreciated even with eyes closed, simply because of the spiritual energy it radiated.

Marquis Mylor, who dealt with all things related to goods, felt like he was developing a fever as more and more pearls were handed over to the rightfully overjoyed Luca.

Actually, it wasn’t even the sheer number of pearls that was making him feel ill.

It was the fact that his own son, Oliver Mylor, had joined the impromptu discussions about a jewelry-making session.

Because really, who would have bodies worthy of wearing such things?

Well.

Apparently, all of them.

Yes.

To the complete horror and shock of the Mylor patriarch, he had just heard Luca and his blonde prodigal son allotting pearls to everyone present.

And the worst part?

They were whispering like two extrely pleased conspirators.

Gremlin one and Gremlin two.

"Brother! Do you think this one would be nice?" Luca whispered happily as he held up one particularly large pearl. It glowed softly in his palm.

Ollie leaned in imdiately.

"Oh! That one’s really round!" he said with complete seriousness, even when he was quite literally deciding with vibes.

Luca, the agreeable one, simply nodded in agreent.

"We should give the nicest ones to the ladies," he whispered. "Like to our moms, in-laws, aunts, as well as the others."

"Right!" Ollie agreed without hesitation.

Both of them stared at the increasing pile of pearls as though they were planning a very important mission.

"This one could be a bracelet," Luca murmured thoughtfully.

"And that one could be earrings!" Ollie added.

They both looked extrely excited.

"But how do we make them?" Ollie asked curiously.

Luca blinked.

"Well... don’t we just drill a hole through them and use a string?" he said sheepishly. "That’s what the kids did when they made jewelry back in Tesseris."

Silence.

Absolute silence.

Several adults looked like they were on the verge of fainting.

anwhile, the two conspirators continued discussing their plans with shining eyes.

"And if we have extra," Ollie whispered, "we could definitely sell so."

Luca’s eyes sparkled.

"Oh! That’s true!"

They both nodded enthusiastically.

Because from their perspective, this was an extrely good business plan for several reasons.

It took a mont before the rest of the group realized that the two were completely serious.

Yep. Even the normally wary Ollie Mylor, who used to react violently and skittishly at such things, was actually on board this ti around.

But why?

It was rather unexpected, but at the sa ti, sothing they should all have seen coming.

At that point, one person who still possessed the ability to think finally raised her hand.

"Excuse ."

All eyes turned toward her.

Countess Jenna stepped forward calmly.

"I happen to know a little about jewelry," she said modestly.

Which, in reality, ant quite a lot.

At first, she had no intention of ddling with their plans, but her head understandably shook when she heard their plan to simply drill their way in, and she figured it would be best to speak up before atrocities were committed.

What if the children ended up regretting their decisions because they didn’t have enough help?

"So perhaps I could help with setting them properly," she continued, studying one of the pearls carefully. "But first, I’d like to understand what kind of jewelry you intend to make and for what purpose. The designs should take their intended use into account."

It was a reasonable question. One that would definitely raise more questions regarding the actual material for when things actually start.

But at that mont, Duchess Alia finally spoke up as well.

She looked at her excited child with mild concern.

"Son," she said gently, "it’s really alright if you just keep them. Or maybe sell a few if you’re interested. But you don’t have to give them to us."

Luca scratched his cheek sheepishly.

"No, it’s really fine, Mom," he said quickly. "I actually thought about this before, and I was really hoping to be able to give everyone sothing."

Everyone blinked.

With everything they received, shouldn’t it be the other way around?

But the golden-eyed saint really had his own concerns relating to this.

"Well, when I learned what the Annual Expo was really about, I wanted to co up with sothing that could help..." Luca added.

The others looked at Luca in confusion.

"Son, what do you an by that?" the Duchess asked.

Luca blinked as if realizing that everyone was staring at him.

"Oh... um..."

The skittish cadet scratched at his cheek awkwardly before trying to explain.

"Well... It’s about the closing ceremony day," he said shyly. "And the banquet they usually hold after that."

Several people exchanged glances.

The closing banquet?

What could that possibly have anything to do with pearls?

Well, apparently, a lot.
