"Thanks," Elias said softly as he slowly pulled away from Liora Voss’s arms and stood up straight.
"You..." Liora Voss’s lips moved a few tis. What she wanted to say was obvious, but the words died in her throat and she fell silent.
Whether Elias had a fever or not had nothing to do with her. If it weren’t for Serena Blackwood’s orders, she would never have wasted ti on him in the first place. To put it bluntly, whether he lived or died was none of her concern.
Elias seed to know what she wanted to say. He gave her a weak smile, his voice slightly hoarse. "I’m fine."
He really was fine. Not only did he not feel bad, he actually felt quite comfortable. He was only putting on a little act in front of Liora Voss—he figured she wouldn’t actually send him to the hospital anyway.
After all, her favorability toward him was even lower than Serena Blackwood’s.
Sure enough, Liora Voss saw through his forced endurance and didn’t say anything more. Instead, there was a trace of amusent in her eyes, like she was looking at an idiot.
Still, Elias’s fever did prove that this really had been his first ti. Only in a weakened physical state would his body be invaded by the virus so easily.
Although Liora Voss didn’t care whether Elias lived or died, she still had to carry out Serena Blackwood’s instructions. "I’ll take you."
This ti, Elias didn’t refuse.
Elias got into Liora Voss’s car. Just as they were about to drive off, her phone started buzzing.
Liora Voss took out her phone and answered directly.
"Sis."
"I’ve got him. I’m about to take him back to campus."
"How is he? He has a fever..."
As she spoke, Liora Voss glanced sideways at Elias. The young man’s face was flushed red, with a slight sheen of sweat on his forehead—or perhaps water droplets still falling from his undried golden hair. His eyes were half-closed, as if he was resting or simply too weak to keep them open.
"Take him to the hospital?" There was a trace of surprise in Liora Voss’s tone. Elias also forced his eyes open at those words, a flash of shock passing through his beautiful pupils as well.
What was going on?
Under normal circumstances, shouldn’t these two won—Liora Voss and Serena Blackwood—both ignore him completely and not care whether he lived or died?
That was exactly how the original plot had gone. Serena Blackwood had even left before Elias woke up without saying a single word. Liora Voss hadn’t shown up either, except for the initial discussion about keeping him at the nightclub and the final mont of picking up the leftovers. She barely appeared in any of the middle sections.
So was Serena Blackwood... suddenly caring about him like this because she had fucked him so well last night?
"Alright, I understand." Liora Voss hung up the phone and told Elias, "I’m taking you to the hospital."
When she said this, the look in her eyes as she stared at him carried several degrees of disbelief.
Why would her sister suddenly care about whether this fake had lived or died?
Compared to her, Serena Blackwood was truly ruthless. Because Elias had refused the arrangent, she had gone straight after his parents, forcing him to agree.
Never mind the final result—Elias getting ten million dollars and his parents’ problems being solved. All of it had been built on the premise that he agreed to Serena Blackwood’s demands. If he hadn’t, Marlene Bennet and Arthur Hale might not even be in the city anymore.
For soone as cold as Serena Blackwood to suddenly show concern for Elias’s physical condition, Liora Voss felt like the sun had risen in the west.
Was she trying to maintain that gentle image in front of him?
That was the only explanation that made sense.
Liora Voss drove Elias toward the hospital, but it wasn’t the one from last night. It was another one—Longhaven Hospital, the most authoritative hospital in this world. Not just in this city, but one of the absolute top dical institutions globally. Anything that could be treated abroad, it could treat. Even things that couldn’t be treated abroad, it could handle. In short, it was known for being capable of anything.
Yvonne Quinn worked as a doctor at this hospital.
Elias even sowhat suspected that if this weren’t a modern world and had even a hint of supernatural elents, Longhaven Hospital might be capable of bringing people back from the dead.
Of course, it was best if such things didn’t exist, because if they did, there was a high chance it would be used on him—which ant he would probably have to die at least once...
Death was sothing Elias was all too familiar with. Every ti he completed a mission and needed to leave a world, he had to die. In so worlds, his death was even part of the plot itself.
For example, sotis when the female lead blackened and went insane, wanting to kill her husband to prove her Dao, he was that "husband."
Of course, after dying in that world he beca an undead, then seduced the Lord of the Undead. Together with the Lord of the Undead they fought their way back to the living realm. When his original Dao companion and the new one t, the battle that followed was absolutely brutal.
Then, when both of them were lying on the ground badly injured and unable to move even a single finger, he had sex with the Lord of the Undead right in front of the woman who had killed him to prove her Dao.
In short, the scene had been extrely exciting at the ti.
[System Theta: Don’t grin like an idiot!]
Hearing that, Elias quickly reined in his expression that had slipped out of control. He looked at Liora Voss weakly yet indifferently. "I already told you, I’m fine."
The corner of Liora Voss’s lips curved up. Elias didn’t want to go to the hospital, but how could he have any say?
This was Serena Blackwood’s order. He had to go whether he wanted to or not.
Liora Voss rested her right hand on the steering wheel, her fingertips tapping lightly. She lifted her chin. "Get out."
Elias gave her a deep look, knowing this was Serena Blackwood’s command. He still opened the door and stepped out. The mont his feet touched the ground, his legs trembled noticeably. He nearly collapsed, only managing to stay upright by grabbing the car door.
Liora Voss’s expression didn’t change. She simply got out of the car and followed leisurely behind Elias, watching him shuffle step by step toward Longhaven Hospital.
The short distance of less than a hundred ters took Elias a full five minutes to walk. Liora Voss showed no impatience, her eyes filled with interest.
This fragile version of Elias felt very easy to control.
Liora Voss smiled faintly, her voice carrying a trace of mockery. "Weren’t you fine?"
Elias, walking ahead, lightly rolled his eyes. He couldn’t be bothered to deal with Liora Voss right now. If it had been earlier, no matter what he would have made her carry him over—or at the very least support him—to raise her favorability. But right now he had other plans.
He wanted to "accidentally" run into Yvonne Quinn.
Since Liora Voss was proving so difficult to conquer, he would put her on the back burner for now. At least he could go after soone who was actually interested in n. Conveniently, Liora Voss had brought him here for a check-up, so he might as well take the chance to build so rapport with Yvonne Quinn.
This wasn’t so wild fantasy. As the protagonist, he shared a certain fated connection with these won. With good luck, he was bound to encounter them.
This was also why he had been wandering around campus last night, trying to run into Giselle Frost.
Besides, who wouldn’t love a silver-haired beauty?
[System Theta: Don’t get too excited...]
Right at that mont, Elias’s body trembled as he heard a voice so seductive it could get soone pregnant just from listening—easily a hundred tis sexier than Serena Blackwood’s.
Elias instantly grew excited. Who else could it be but Yvonne Quinn?
Serena Blackwood? Who was that? He didn’t know her anymore. He was going to go play with the doctor sister!
