Now reading: Chapter 1243 - 150: The Pan-European Electromagnetism Confer from The Shadow of Great Britain, a Fantasy novel by Chasing Time.

The event is clearly a grand gathering of the natural philosophy community, but the nature of the conference continuously evolves enthusiastically towards the realm of theology. This not only pressures the host, the University of Gottingen, but also poses a severe test to the security forces of the Gottingen police station.

However, for Sir Arthur Hastings, who has seen many storms, life is truly full of wonders.

When he was engaging in feudal superstitions in the revival of the church, the British Privy Council firmly asserted that these could be explained scientifically.

And when he sought to organize a scientific gathering, citizens told him: we might as well indulge in so feudal superstitions.

Seeing more and more people gathering, Police Chief Schmidt was already sweating nervously.

Fortunately, he could rely on Sir Arthur Hastings, once the best police commander of the Royal Greater London Police Departnt.

Arthur’s resu clearly shows that he is fully capable of handling such large-scale crowd gatherings.

Even if all the citizens of Gottingen were combined, they could not compare to the number of participants in the largest-scale riot incident Arthur has dealt with.

Asking Arthur to maintain order at the venue is almost like asking a pig farr to manage a chicken coop. Although possible, it is still a waste of managent resources.

Moreover, there’s no need for him to use the managent techniques he learned at Scotland Yard, nor does he need to bring out his heap of Royal Family-certified titles.

His identity as the Göttingen University Supervisor and Professor alone is enough to earn him the trust and applause of the citizens.

More incredibly, the citizens did not expect such a noble figure to actually agree to bless the children.

Just by touching the children’s heads and saying a few lukewarm nice words, he was able to stabilize the citizens’ emotions. Having experienced the gunfire in London, Arthur only wanted to sincerely praise the ease of managing the German people.

"His eyes are very deep, sophisticated philosophy pairs well with his eyes."

"His nose is not high, making it great material for astronomy observation, because his nose won’t hit the telescope lenses, making stars closer to his eyes, so he can see clearer than others."

"Is he quiet? Patience is a precious quality, madam, mathematics is undoubtedly suitable for him."

"Is he a troublemaker? Oh! Perfect! A born experintal physicist!"

"Such a young but an alcohol enthusiast? Able to distinguish multiple different flavors of alcohol? Sir, what are you even thinking? Your son is very suitable for chemistry."

"And this lad? Not very old but sly, with no talent besides talking a lot to little girls? Oh! Madam, don’t be discouraged, I truly recomnd your son to join the Royal Navy, I’m not joking, I believe he can beco a General there, I have a friend there."

"And you? Are you good friends with that previous rascal? My God! Young man, do you know the great advantage you have? You have a good foundation to beco a biologist!"

Under the cover of Professor Hastings, knowledgeable in ancient and modern affairs, scholars from various countries were finally not entangled much by the citizens.

They exchanged a smile and amusingly stepped into the venue.

Gradually, Ohm standing backstage could also see clearly the faces of the seated individuals in the first row, their nas already marked on paper at their seats.

Seated at the central position was the Duke of Sussex, President of the Royal Society holding half the host status, and beside him were those respectively representing the highest authorities of the four major European academies: the lifelong Secretary of the Paris Academy of Sciences, Dominique Jean Arago, and the director of the Berlin Academy of Sciences, Alexander von Humboldt.

The only regret is that the Ro Academy of Sciences, also ranked among the four major academies, did not appear here.

This forr brightest jewel in European science, affected by the Napoleonic Wars, had basically fallen into a state of stagnation since the early 19th century. Although nominally it has not been disbanded, it hasn’t recruited new mbers for many years, nor have there been reports of recent research activities.

Therefore, everyone’s regret over the Ro Academy of Sciences’ absence isn’t particularly strong, given that it’s been replaced by another heavyweight in the European science community—the permanent Secretary of the Danish Royal Society, discoverer of the magnetic effect of electric currents, Hans Oersted.

Adjacent to Oersted is the director of the Swedish Academy of Environntal Sciences, proposer of dualism in electrodynamics, Jons Berzelius.

Beside them, chatting warmly, is a trio.

That’s Mary Ampere, faster than Fleet Street journalists, Mr. Michael Faraday, director of the Royal Society Laboratory, the pride of Britain, and naturally it includes the head of the Göttingen University Observatory, John Gauss, looming heavily over the European mathematics community.

It appears that Mr. Faraday indeed brought many mathematical questions to Göttingen, even moving his seat to the side just to consult with Gauss. Seeing his radiant smile, Gauss’s answers must have pleased him greatly.

Of course, not all seats in the first row are occupied, there’s still an empty seat.

No need to say more; that belongs to Sir Arthur Hastings.
