Now reading: Chapter 1094 1094: Could Be a Much Bigger Problem from The Shining Star Above The Heaven, a Fantasy novel by TheRuler45.

The four immortals recognized the faint residue of energy left within the corpses' wounds.

The problem was that this energy should not exist here. It should only appear in the higher heaven.

That was why they were shocked. None of them understood how this energy could appear in this place.

"Isn't this the energy of the followers of God Arvegis?" the man beside Ulsin nad Kurtis said.

"Yes. Although it is only a tiny residue, there is no doubt it belongs to the followers of God Arvegis," the woman beside Zeskia nad Nira said.

"But how the hell did followers of God Arvegis reach the first heaven? Did our god permit so of them to descend? We were never told that followers of God Arvegis were here," Ulsin said in confusion.

Zeskia frowned deeply as she thought about it.

No matter how much she thought about it, the matter still felt extrely strange.

The energy they sensed clearly belonged to one of the god's followers, and such energy should only appear in the higher heavens. There was no way they could mistake it. They had encountered the followers of God Arvegis countless tis before.

In the second heaven, the followers of God Arvegis were extrely nurous because the second heaven was their territory.

According to the covenant between the gods, the second heaven belonged to God Arvegis, while their god would claim the first heaven.

From what she knew, the covenant also stated that followers of other gods could not enter a territory that had not yet been fully controlled. A god had to secure the entire heaven first before allowing followers of other gods to enter.

Zeskia did not know why the gods created such a covenant, but that was the rule.

The first heaven was still not fully under the control of their god, Tarius. They still needed ti to secure the entire heaven.

However, the fact that they had discovered the residue of another god's follower here ant one thing.

Sothing was wrong.

Sothing that she did not know.

"No way our higher-ups in the Second Heaven would fail to inform us if followers of God Arvegis existed in the First Heaven. They should have told us in order to prevent any conflict between our factions," Kurtis said.

"Then what do you see in front of you, Kurtis? These corpses are followers of our god, and they are dead. Dead because of soone who carries the energy of a follower of God Arvegis. Isn't this basically inviting conflict between our two factions?" Ulsin said in a pissed-off tone.

Kurtis looked at Ulsin as his frown deepened.

"Do not jump to conclusions. We cannot be certain that this truly belongs to a follower of God Arvegis. We must catch the assassins to confirm whether they are truly his followers," he said.

"I agree. This matter cannot be concluded recklessly. We need to investigate thoroughly," Nira said as her gaze fell upon the wound of the corpse beside her.

"There are also a few things I find strange about this assassination case, which makes question whether the killers are truly assassins."

Ulsin looked at her with narrowed eyes.

"What is strange about it?"

Nira then looked at him and the others.

"Do you not find it strange that the assassins made such a simple mistake by leaving traces of their energy in their victims' wounds? We heard these assassins are supposed to be very skilled at hiding and erasing their traces. Yet they left their energy inside the bodies of their targets? That sounds ridiculous."

"The second strange thing is the targets themselves. The assassins killed several important figures of the city, but they also killed so completely unimportant people. Why would they do that? It seems like they are killing without specific targets in mind. It feels as if they only want to kill in order to create chaos."

Zeskia nodded after hearing that.

"I agree with Nira. To , this looks like the work of soone with a purpose in mind. It feels like they were not here only to assassinate people but also to accomplish sothing else."

She then looked at the corpses.

"It is almost as if they wanted us to sense the residual energy and beco confused."

Kurtis' gaze turned toward her.

"Are you suggesting that whoever is behind this wants to create a clash between our god's followers and the followers of God Arvegis, Miss Zeskia?"

"That is one possibility, but we cannot be certain yet. That is why we need to catch the assassins first. Only then will we know their true motives," Zeskia replied.

"Hey, hey, I think we are drifting away from the most important problem here," Ulsin said in an exasperated tone while snapping his fingers twice.

"The real problem is the fact that soone in the First Heaven is a follower of God Arvegis. That is the strangest thing. We can speculate about the motives behind the assassinations all we want, but the existence of followers of God Arvegis here is already a problem. How could any of them be here when there has been no announcent or warning from the higher-ups?"

The others did not speak, but they agreed with him. The re existence of another god's followers in the First Heaven was already strange. This could easily beco a major problem because it might cause a misunderstanding between the two factions.

"Let's report this to the higher-ups. This matter is not simple and could cause much bigger trouble if it is not handled properly," Zeskia said before turning to Nira.

"Nira, go back to Arsien Star and inform the ssenger about this matter."

Nira nodded.

"Yes, Miss."

She then rushed out of the building, leaving the three immortals behind.

Zeskia then looked at the other two.

"We have to catch the assassins as soon as possible. We do not want this matter to develop into sothing much worse."

Kurtis and Ulsin nodded. Ulsin then walked toward one of the corpses.

"Let's see if we can get sothing," he said before touching the corpse's forehead and closing his eyes.

"Luckily it has not been long since their deaths. Their souls most likely have not entered reincarnation yet and are still waiting."

A mont later, black energy appeared and surrounded the corpse's body before being absorbed into it.

A few seconds later, the corpse's eyes opened. The gaze was empty and its expression remained completely flat.

Ulsin kept his hand on the corpse's forehead while looking into its mories. After a few monts, he sighed, opened his eyes, and shook his head.

"This one gives us nothing. The assassin attacked from a blind spot. He never saw the killer."

He then moved to another corpse.

The first corpse that he had temporarily revived closed its eyes again as death reclaid it.

Ulsin repeated the sa process with another corpse.

While they continued their investigation, Aldrian was standing on the rooftop of the building, listening to their conversation since earlier.

He was not surprised that they quickly noticed sothing strange about the motives behind the assassinations. They had even guessed his intentions.

However, Aldrian did not care whether they understood his motives or not.

What mattered was that the news of the assassinations and the energy of the followers of God Arvegis would eventually reach the ears of Tarius.

The opinions and conclusions of these immortals were not important. Even if they correctly guessed the reason behind the killings, it would not change anything.

Tarius would think differently.

With the appearance of another god's followers in the First Heaven, Tarius might go ballistic and set aside the strange details of the assassination case.

As a god, Aldrian could imagine that Tarius would not tolerate soone making a fool out of him. The First Heaven was supposed to be his territory, yet followers of another god had infiltrated it without his knowledge.

Moreover, soone in his supposed territory had destroyed everything he had been trying to build. The foundation he had already established in the First Heaven had begun to collapse, and the First Heaven was slowly slipping from his grasp.

With all those factors combined, although Tarius might already guess that he was from the rebels' side, he would likely think that other gods from his side were also trying to ss with him, especially since the situation in the First Heaven could benefit them.

His first target would undoubtedly be God Arvegis. Aldrian could imagine that God Arvegis would find it difficult to refute whatever accusations Tarius might throw at him.

After all, it was a fact that an apostle of God Arvegis had appeared in the First Heaven and spreading his influence.

Even if Tarius did not fight God Arvegis, he would at least begin to see him as an enemy.

That alone would be enough to create hidden tension among the invading gods.

Aldrian wanted this incident to ensure that the conflict between the two gods would grow deeper, until all the invading gods began to see one another as enemies.

Aldrian then thought of sothing else while his senses continued observing Ulsin as he used his technique to look through the corpses' mories.

Ulsin was a necromancer, and a skilled one at that. With his technique, he could pull souls from the underworld if they had not yet entered reincarnation, even if the corpse had been dead for several days.

That ant as long as the souls of the dead had not entered the cycle of reincarnation, he could still pull them back from the underworld.

If this man reached Divinity Realm, he would definitely be able to comprehend Death Laws.

Although he had not yet comprehended it, his path was already directed toward that way. As a necromancer, he had already grasped what many referred to as pseudo Death Laws.

After observing the immortals for a while, Aldrian had already decided on his next target.
