"If you’re hungry, you eat; who waits for whom..."

Her voice wasn’t loud, even sowhat mild, but Pei Jue was naturally blessed with excellent hearing, especially adept at identifying locations by sound on the battlefield; unfortunately, he overheard her words and their tone clearly.

He frowned and turned away.

-

The Noon Wood Workshop sent soone to notify them, saying Feng Yun was sleeping and they did not wish to disturb her, so they waited outside for half an hour. Only after Feng Yun woke up did they report that the loudspeaker was ready.

Feng Yun turned over and got up, casting a reproachful glance at Xiaoman.

"Why didn’t you wake ?"

Xiaoman pouted, "The General ordered not to wake the lady."

Daman said, "The General also said to let the lady have her al before going to the wood workshop. He’s been cursed at for two days anyway; a little while longer won’t hurt."

It appeared that Pei Jue truly didn’t care about those curses.

The wife-stealing dog...

Thinking about it still made Feng Yun want to laugh.

"Then let’s do as the General instructed."

Breakfast was missed, and now it was ti for lunch. Once Feng Yun was washed and dressed in light armor, she saw Pei Jue sitting at the desk, sitting up straight, expressionless, as if harboring so displeasure, but as usual, saying nothing.

"Have you been waiting for , General?" Feng Yun’s movents were graceful, her smile impeccable, and her refined and stunning face was flawless, leaving no room for criticism.

Pei Jue’s lips tensed slightly, "Hmm."

Feng Yun approached him and knelt down to serve him food.

"I’ve kept you waiting, General."

What impeccable manners.

"Let’s eat." Pei Jue picked up his chopsticks and was about to lift his bowl when his gaze inadvertently fell on Feng Yun.

She bowed forward slightly, her pose elegant, revealing delicate curves. The narrow waist led up to rounded mounds that were particularly eye-catching.

"You are not wearing your bodice?"

Feng Yun glanced down, "Yes."

Her reply was light, and she lowered her eyes to eat her soup and rice.

Dressed in light armor and n’s clothing was practical for dealing with the soldiers in the camp, but binding with cloth bands was too uncomfortable, making it difficult to breathe. She didn’t want to be so harsh on herself.

She endured it for a day before giving up.

Eating her al with small bites, she heard no words from Pei Jue for quite so ti. Feng Yun looked up, as if she just noticed his expression.

"Do you dislike it, General?"

Pei Jue’s brows relaxed, a hard-to-detect shadow in his dark eyes.

"No."

He obviously did dislike it, yet he denied?

Feng Yun was quite pleased not to hear a commanding "bind it" from Pei Jue’s mouth. She decided not to take issue with it, and cheerfully said:

"Don’t worry, General. The loudspeaker is the focus today; all the soldiers will be looking at it. No one will pay attention to ."

Pei Jue was expressionless, "Hmm."

That was tacit approval.

Feng Yun felt slightly relieved.

Pei Jue did not like to force her to do anything, unlike Xiao Cheng...

The thought of that person caused a barely perceivable furrow in her brow, but then like any common husband and wife, she said warmly to Pei Jue:

"The camp’s cook isn’t bad at all. The sa noodle soup can taste so good; I’ve had it for two days and I’m not yet tired of it..."

The lady by his side, her fragrance wafts around him.

Pei Jue’s gaze couldn’t help but fall on the voluptuous area.

Too eye-catching.

The soldiers in the camp, all starved like wolves on the battlefield, a delicate and lovely lady like her standing there could simply shake the soldiers’ morale...

A cool breath brushed over his face.

"General, eat up."

Pei Jue looked at her lips, dewy as if bearing droplets of moisture, parting and closing, and he reached out to grasp that slender waist...

Before he could speak, Daman ca in, beaming with joy.

"Lady, the Great Young Master has co."

The one they called the Great Young Master was none other than Wen Xingsu. In Feng Yun’s eyes, he was her true kin.

Delight instantly spread across Feng Yun’s face.

The bright gleam in her eyes was dazzling.

"Quick, let him in."

Wen Xingsu observed formalities; aware Feng Yun was dining with Pei Jue, he did not rush over and instead waited outside.

Seeing Pei Jue silent, Feng Yun quietly finished her al, then stood up and walked out with light steps.

"Elder brother,"

Wen Xingsu put down his teacup and smiled at her.

"I haven’t interrupted your al, have I?"

"Not at all." Feng Yun didn’t like it when he was overly polite with her. She walked over with a smile, about to speak when she saw Wen Xingsu rise from the low table and bow in her direction.

"Greetings, Great General."

Pei Jue raised his hand slightly, "General Wen, no need for such courtesy."

At the mont, Wen Xingsu was considered idle, coming to Bingzhou solely for Feng Yun. Thus, his identity could be said to be more akin to a mber of Feng Yun’s household rather than a general in the camp. Fortunately, he had the excuse of an unhealed injury, which kept idle gossip at bay.

"I’ve heard that you’ve made a war device, and I ca to see for myself."

He was a mild and honest scholar-general, making it difficult for anyone to dislike him when he spoke or acted.

Pei Jue humd, "Please, feel free."

After he spoke, he glanced at Feng Yun and walked away with large strides.

Feng Yun let out a sigh of relief, "Let’s go too, elder brother."

For so reason, even though Pei Jue didn’t say much and showed no hostility towards Wen Xingsu, she felt tense when the two of them interacted with her. That invisible pressure emanated both from Pei Jue and Wen Xingsu.

Awkward.

With Pei Jue gone, she felt much more comfortable talking to her elder brother.

On the way to the woodworking shop, Feng Yun and Wen Xingsu discussed in detail the use of the gaphones, and as a commander, he was very interested.

Five giant wooden gaphones were laid outside the door of the Noon Wood Workshop.

Their unique shape attracted the onlookers from the neighborhood.

Feng Yun stepped forward to inspect them carefully, ordering them to be lifted onto the city tower: one on each of the four towers—east, south, west, and north—with the extra one facing directly toward Hengqu Pass.

"Make way, make way! The gaphones are here."

The gaphones, being huge, required two soldiers to hoist them up using a pole and ropes. For the sake of transmitting sound more effectively, Feng Yun had even specially requested the workshop to construct a base for them, just high enough to be above the battlents and facilitate the projection of sound.

A crowd gathered, curious about this novel contraption, bombarding Feng Yun with questions.

"Feng Ji, should the big end face out, or the small end?"

"The big end!"

"What’s the purpose of this curve?"

"For conducting sound."

"Conduct? How does that work?"

Feng Yun smiled, "You’ll know soon."

Facing the queries and doubts with ease, Feng Yun, surrounded by a group of n, didn’t show timidity or embarrassnt. She carefully arranged the wooden gaphones before turning back to look at Pei Jue.

He stood in front of the battlents, silent.

Feng Yun guessed he wasn’t very pleased with her proximity to the n in the camp, but since he had personally told her to act as a strategist and dressed as a man, he couldn’t take it back, and he was likely feeling sowhat uncomfortable at the mont.

So she behaved even more compliantly to save his face.

"General, co and have a look," she said.

Pei Jue glanced at her and walked over with long strides.

Feng Yun pointed at the gaphone, "General, would you like to try?"

Pei Jue observed the strange object for a mont, "How does it work?"

Feng Yun leaned in with a smile and winked at him, "Watch ."

Pei Jue stepped aside quietly and looked down at her flushed cheeks.

The soldiers also crowded around, casting their curious gaze upon Feng Yun and the gaphone. She approached the curved hole of the gaphone and called out firmly yet not too loudly.

"Xiao Cheng, you incompetent coward, if you dare, co out and fight!"

The clear, female voice, amplified by the gaphones, spread outside the city walls.

"Amazing!"

Having engaged in verbal confrontation with the Qi Army for two days, the soldiers were frustrated and hoarse from shouting, but now, without using much voice, the words spoken by Feng Yun carried far and wide, as if vibrating the heavens.

With this "Divine Cylinder," how could they fear verbal confrontation anymore?

This was genius.

Praise ca from all around.

Excitent radiated from Feng Yun’s face.

It was a feeling of accomplishnt beyond words.

Pei Jue’s lips curled slightly as he fixated on her bright eyes.

When Feng Yun turned back and t his gaze, she smiled, "General, your turn to try."

Pei Jue walked up, bent down towards the gaphone, and opened his mouth...

But no sound ca out.

The crowd was puzzled when they saw their imposing Great General slowly turn his head to look at the woman beside him.

"I can’t do it."
