Now reading: Chapter 313 - 221 Rampant Jue from The Slender Waist, a Historical novel by Si Jin.

In the flower hall, Feng Jingteng was supported by two guards, a bit disoriented and incessantly babbling nonsense.

Guard Jiang Da’s face was filled with tension and unease.

"General, the lady offered wine, and the master was too pleased, drinking a few cups too many," he said.

From the mont Pei Jue entered, he hadn’t spoken a single word.

Jiang Da’s back was drenched with sweat as he gently patted Feng Jingteng’s back, wishing he could shake him awake.

"Master... General Pei has arrived."

Feng Jingteng’s eyes were bleary with drunkenness, and he was visibly reluctant as he curled his lip. With a slight closing of his eyes, he assud the posture of a dashing gentleman, pulling his robe open, stretching out his long legs languidly, and revealing a swath of bare chest.

"Who goes there? Announce yourself, co on, announce your na."

Pei Jue’s voice was cold.

"Pei Jue."

"Pei Jue?"

"The ’Pei’ of Pei Jue, the ’Jue’ of rampant disorder."

Feng Jingteng jolted, half-drunk and half-awake, narrowing his eyes to take a good look at him.

"Doesn’t look much like it..."

The last ti Feng Jingteng saw Pei Jue was in Andu County.

At that ti, he was clad in armor, seated on horseback, seen from afar atop the city walls as a tall, imposing figure, awe-inspiring and robust.

Upon closer observation, the person he saw now, out of armor and in casual clothes, was nothing like the rumored barbarian of wild and bloody ways.

Apart from being over eight feet tall, which was accurate, his appearance was entirely different from both the rumors and his imagination.

He was not only un-ugly and rugged, but on the contrary, he had an exceptionally handso face, with piercing eyes, strong as a tiger, not a delicate noble but with a natural grace.

"What a waste."

Such a remarkable man had ended up marrying his daughter, who had neither talent nor virtue, and only beauty.

"General... how many concubines do you have in your household?"

"The twenty beautiful ladies sent last ti, were you satisfied with them?"

Jiang Da’s ears buzzed as he heard this.

This was not a conversation for a rry occasion, much less appropriate.

If Feng Jingteng hadn’t been drinking, he would never utter such nonsense; but once he drank, his true nature showed.

"Master, are you still not sober?" Pei Jue asked, indifferent to the scrutinizing gaze continuously cast upon him by Feng Jingteng.

Feng Jingteng looked back at him defiantly, shaking his finger.

"You ought to address as ’Old Mount Tai’."

Pei Jue: "It seems the wine hasn’t worn off."

Having said this, he signaled to those around him, "Co, lead the master out to sober up."

"Yes." Several guards rushed forward to grab Feng Jingteng.

Jiang Da and the other guards of the Feng Residence imdiately stepped forward to stop them, "General Pei, even if two armies are at war, envoys are not to be hard, let alone during peace negotiations?"

Pei Jue remained silent, his expression stern.

Jiu You sneered.

"You slowpoke, did you not hear our general’s order? To help the master sober up is not the sa as taking his life..."

He sneered mischievously.

"Or could it be that you’re eager to see your lord co to harm?"

Jiang Da, intimidated by his words, kept bowing profusely, raising his head to say:

"Today, the master had a few too many drinks, and acted... acted a bit out of line, please have rcy, General..."

Feng Jingteng’s slap ca flying and struck Jiang Da on the head.

"You cur, who are you saying is out of line? How dare you."

Liquor emboldens the coward.

Provoked by the words Ge Guang had said earlier, Feng Jingteng was filled with resentnt and wanted to prove in front of everyone that he was neither a coward nor timid.

"You!"

He turned towards Pei Jue, his face flushed red with drunkenness, and bellowed,

"Why aren’t you kneeling down and paying homage to your father-in-law?"

Jiang Da, watching the scene, was boiling with anger, wishing he could muzzle him.

Pei Jue’s expression did not change.

"Throw him out."

The guards hesitated earlier, considering he was the lady’s birth father, treating him sowhat gently, but now that the general had spoken, they no longer cared, shoved aside the attendants protecting Feng Jingteng, and took hold of him to escort him out.

Feng Jingteng, unsteady on his feet, staggered as he walked and continued to struggle, turning back to curse at Pei Jue.

"Scoundrel, filial piety is a heavenly duty; you, Pei Jue, by treating your father-in-law this way, will surely invite divine retribution..."

Jiu You grabbed him with a scoff,

"Whether the heavens reprimand , I do not know, but offending the general, you are certainly inviting chastisent."

Lin Zhuo asked him, "How do we sober him up?"

With a wicked glint, Jiu You suggested, "Toss him in the dung pit?"

The sll of the camp’s dung pit was notorious, and without needing to hear more, Lin Zhuo already looked repulsed.

"Really going to do it?"

"Am I kidding with you?"

"But he is the lady’s father..."

"Not anymore." Jiu You huffed, "That hypocrite who traded his daughter for survival, does he deserve to be our lady’s father?"

His words, paired with the ntion of the dung pit, sobered Feng Jingteng up considerably, and he began to cry out for help.

"Have you eaten the heart of a bear and the gall of a leopard? I am an envoy of Qi Country, you have no right to treat thus."

Feng Yun had arrived at that mont.

Xiaoman, upon seeing this, was about to step forward but was held back by her.

"What are you doing?"

Xiaoman said, "They’re going to take the master..."
