She bowed her head again, steadied his face, and looked into his eyes.

"Either way, it’s death, so I might as well just devour the General now. On the Netherworld Path, at least I’ll be a ghost that died full... "

Breath close enough to touch.

Behind the veil of her long hair, her face appeared exceptionally delicate, eyes innocent yet bewitchingly bright like those of a demoness, a face pure yet filled with desire, perfectly mingling her conflicting urges of conquest and timidity, essentially looking like soone who wants to bite yet hesitates...

And then she went to bite him.

"Hiss..." Pei Jue gasped softly.

It was pain, but also an unbearable moan, faintly audible.

As he endured Feng Yun’s nearly brutal "ravaging" and her bizarre antics, the ridians on the back of his hand swelled up in anger. An illusion as if he was truly about to be devoured by this little demoness sent hot blood crazily rushing to his head, and he could no longer hold back...

He flipped over and embraced Feng Yun, rolling her beneath him on the bed.

The disparity in strength between n and won was like heaven and earth. Feng Yun had no power left to struggle, so she started hitting him wildly with her fists.

She exerted all her strength, as if she wished to beat him to death.

Pei Jue neither dodged nor avoided, simply letting her vent her anger.

But suddenly, her eyes reddened, "It hurts."

Pei Jue’s light armor was indeed thick and rough against the skin. Feng Yun’s hands hurt from punching; she felt angry, hateful, and aggrieved. It was clearly she who was hitting soone else, yet she looked pitiful.

Pei Jue caught that delicate little hand, and seeing red marks across the knuckles, it was evident she really had no compassion, beating him rcilessly.

Such a bad temper.

Yet, such a tender body.

Pei Jue sighed, tightened his grip slightly, pulled her into his arms, and patted her comfortingly, "Your life is mine, and no one other than can take it away."

Feng Yun was panting heavily, exhausted.

"My life is my own. Not yours."

She said casually, yet very firmly, like a resistance but also a declaration.

"My life, the General can take away, but the control is mine."

Pei Jue stared at her reddened eyes, slowly let go, sighed in resignation, and rose to straighten his clothes with a calm face.

"Fine, it’s all yours."

Feng Yun looked up, "Is the General also mine?"

Pei Jue fell silent for a mont, his sharp and commanding face frad by an aura of wild indifference, "Do you want ?"

Feng Yun smoothed the damp hair sticking to her forehead, "No, can’t afford it."

Pei Jue frowned slightly, watching her in silence again, "The twenty-five guards I brought with , give them to Ao Qi. If food is insufficient, go to the camp to find Tan Dajin."

Feng Yun frowned subconsciously as she looked at him.

In those dark eyes lay restrained and controlled desires, shrouded by an impenetrable cloud, turning distant in an instant as though the person entangled on the bed with her just before was not him.

Feng Yun chuckled lightly, "Is the General leaving?"

Pei Jue said, "Can’t be away from the front."

With two armies at a standoff, just a river apart, the situation could change at any mont, and for the commander to leave the camp was a major taboo.

Yet, he ca anyway, didn’t he?

If he was so eager to leave, why did he co?

Indeed, with Empress Dowager Li maligned so shalessly, General Pei’s heart must be in pieces. How could he not co to take his anger out on her, the one responsible, to calm his rage?

Feng Yun mocked inwardly, not saying much, walking over to straighten his clothes for him, specifically smoothing over his lower robe, yet finding it impossible to flatten it, so she looked up at Pei Jue’s twitching gaze, provocatively raising her eyebrows.

"If a battle starts, do the favor of sending word."

Pei Jue glanced at her, stayed silent.

Feng Yun said, "In case the General dies in battle, I’d better prepare early and look for other ways out."

Pei Jue’s fingers stiffened...

He turned his head coldly to look at Feng Yun.

"Aren’t you afraid I’ll strangle you right now?"

Feng Yun smiled.

She couldn’t quite say why, but where she had once feared Pei Jue, today she might have been too angry to think straight. Seeing him coming back from the camp to trouble her over Li Sangruo, he seed to have thrown all caution to the wind...

From the mont she flipped over and mounted him, fear had vanished completely.

No matter how fierce General Pei was, he was still a man whose desires could be controlled by others. As a human, he had emotions and desires, which ant he had vulnerabilities.

But she didn’t discuss this, only her grievances.

"This is called a lost cause; since the General doesn’t trust anymore, there’s no use in being afraid. It’s not advantageous and just invites ridicule..."

Pei Jue remained silent, listening to her sarcastic remarks.

Before leaving, he glanced at Little Lynx, who had been staring at him from start to finish.

"Little Lynx’s wildness isn’t gone; be careful not to get hurt by it."

Feng Yun’s pupils shook, speechless for a long ti.

No one had ever suspected Little Lynx wasn’t a wildcat, even if people often saw it around the estate and just thought it looked a bit strange. Yet, Pei Jue, who had seen Little Lynx only a few tis, was so certain...
