Now reading: Chapter 165: Date With Adelia (3) from The Smiling Death, a Fantasy novel by LOLMan.

After they finished their tea, the two walked out again.

Adelia’s hand naturally found Amon’s once more.

This ti, she didn’t let go.

They wandered through shops. Adelia stopping to admire accessories, Amon watching her with fascinated eyes.

Whenever she turned to ask his opinion, Amon pretended he wasn’t already staring.

At one point, Amon picked up a crystal hairpin shaped like a leaf.

"It’s beautiful," she murmured, as her eyes fell on the hairpin.

"You’d look even more beautiful with it," Amon said softly. Genuinely.

Adelia, hearing that, wanted to curse for the first ti.

"Amon! You—"

But she swallowed the rest of her words as her heart thumped hard.

After a mont,

"Um... if you don’t mind could I put this on you?"

Adelia blinked. "Seriously?"

He nodded with excitent.

She didn’t understand what to do with her student. He was being too forward. Too much assertive. And for so reason she was enjoying it.

This is definitely not her. She is a mature, calm and gentle woman who works at the Academy Infirmary. But seeing Amon’s innocent yet expectant face... it crumbled her resolve.

She sighed. Getting closer to him, gesturing him to do it.

Amon gently tucked the pin into her soft green hair, fingers brushing against her ear, her neck, the warm skin behind her jaw.

Adelia shivered ever so slightly.

Amon whispered without thinking, "Perfect."

For Adelia, this was the first ti she was experiencing this.

"So... it really looks good on ?"

Amon smiled and observed her again.

Amon’s steps slowed as he looked at Adelia properly.

The evening sun brushed its warm light over her—softly glowing against her pale skin, giving her yellow eyes a gentle shine. Her hair was tied loosely today, a few strands resting near her cheeks, swaying each ti she moved.

Her peach-colored sundress matched the evening light.

Amon felt his breath catch.

For a mont, he simply stared.

"Professor..." he whispered without realizing. "You look... really beautiful." This ti he was too much honest. No buttering at all.

Adelia blinked at him, a faint pink rising to her cheeks. "W-What are you saying all of a sudden?"

"I’m just being honest," Amon replied, his tone unusually soft, almost srized.

"Professor Adelia. I will buy it... this is a gift from to you."

She coughed lightly and looked away, but the small smile tugging her lips was impossible to hide.

"Tha-thanks. Now let’s get going. We don’t have all day."

Amon grinned. "Yes. But wait...before going how about taking one picture together?"

Amon take out his pager and handed it to a person near them. Asking them to click a picture. It was amathat this mobile like pager can record things.

Adelia frowned but didn’t refuse. Amon stand beside Adelia. Very close and smile. His fingers intertwined with her.

Adelia flinched. She cursed inside her mind. But force a kind smile. At this movent they really look like couple.

Still it was weird since the man was young, while the woman was mature beauty.

The man clicked their picture. He didn’t comnt.

Amon happily take back the pager. "Thank you man!"

"Oh it’s welco. Also enjoy your date." The man responded and left.

The gentle expression on Adelia face nearly crumbled. "Tch!"

She started to walked.

While, Amon paid for the hairpin and followed her.

---

They wandered through Lunaris Haven together, the streets lively with the evening crowd.

Most of the ti, they walked side by side. Chatting, bantering, laughing.

Sotis...

"Amon! You can’t just grab food samples from every stall!" Adelia scolded, glaring at him as he chewed on a free snack.

"Huh? But they offered it—why refuse free stuff?"

He didn’t understand why she was not allowing him.

"That’s not the point!"

Other tis, Amon pointed at sothing interesting, only for Adelia to sigh and smack the back of his head.

"What was that for?!"

"For even thinking of climbing that statue!"

"It looked fun!"

"No!"

As they road further.

Amon saw so students from the academy.

’Fuck! We might get caught. We need to hide.’

He thought grimly. He didn’t care about his reputation but he couldn’t allow any bad rumors about his Professor.

"Professor! Students!" Amon whispered urgently.

Adelia froze. "Where?!"

"Three of them behind that fountain!"

Without hesitation she grabbed his hand, and they both quickly hid behind a street stall, crouching like suspicious thieves.

"Dammit! Why are we hiding like this..." Adelia muttered, embarrassed.

"You said no students should see us on a date," Amon whispered.

"D-Don’t call it a date!"

"It is a date."

"Shut up."

They stayed there until the students passed. Then they burst out laughing, unable to hold back.

"Hahaha~ this is kind of fun," Amon laughed and expressed his reason for joy.

"Hehehe~ I guess so."

Monts like these made the city feel brighter.

It was dinner ti.

By the ti the sun dipped below the horizon, the sky had turned deep orange, gradually shifting toward night.

Amon and Adelia found a small seaside restaurant. Lanterns hung around the tables, their warm glow reflecting on the waves outside.

They sat by the window, watching the gentle tide rolling in and out.

Adelia ordered sothing light, elegant as always. Amon, of course, ordered enough food for three people.

"Are you sure you’ll finish that?" she asked.

"Yes." His voice confident.

"You always say that."

"I’ll prove it today!"

They ate while talking. Sotis teasing, sotis arguing, often laughing. At one point Amon made a stupid joke, and Adelia choked on her drink from laughing too hard.

"You idiot...!" she hit his arm, still smiling.

But every now and then, when she wasn’t looking, Amon glanced at her with a soft expression. One he didn’t show to anyone else.

Dinner ended with both of them feeling strangely warm, not because of the food but because of the company.

---

Night settled over Lunaris Haven completely. The streets glowed with lanterns, and the soft sea breeze felt cooler now.

They decided to go on the beach before heading back.

Amon and Adelia walked side by side on the sand. Close to the sea. It was just peaceful.

The beach was silent.

The only sound was that of water waves. It was very peaceful.

Adelia held her small bag in front of her, walking gracefully. Amon stayed close, hands behind his head, relaxed and content.

"Today was... nice," she said softly.

Amon smiled. "Yeah. One of the best days I’ve had."

They kept walking, the waves guiding them slowly along the shore, as if encouraging them not to rush... not to end the mont.

Adelia’s lips curled into a small smile. One she wasn’t even aware of.

The moonlight made her green hair glow faintly, each strand swaying with the cool wind. Her sundress fluttered lightly around her legs. She looked calm, gentle... almost unreal.

Amon found himself staring.

Not subtly. Not even trying to hide it.

Everything about her felt perfect in that mont.

Her quiet smile.

Her soft expression.

The peaceful air around her.

’Please don’t let this end yet...’ he thought.

The world felt empty except for them—no noise, no chaos, no academy, no responsibilities.

Just the sound of waves and the warmth of soone he liked walking beside him.

Without aning to, he spoke aloud.

"I wish... I could have a date like this with you again."

His voice was quiet, but it reached her clearly.

Adelia stopped for a heartbeat. She didn’t look at him imdiately. Her fingers tightened slightly on her bag as she breathed in the salty air.

Then she nodded, small and shy.

"Um... I guess... we should."

Amon’s eyes brightened, and his grin stretched wide.

The night was coming to an end, but his heart felt impossibly light.

Today’s date was over.

But it wasn’t the last one.

Not even close.

Many more were waiting for them. He was sure of it.
