Amon froze after hearing him.

’Harvey and Mira? So I can et them.’

"...What?" His voice was hoarse, barely audible.

Zerath’s smile widened. "I thought you might."

Before Amon could react, Zerath grabbed him by the neck and yanked him upright. Amon gasped, his hands uselessly restrained as his feet dragged against the ground.

He bit his lips. ’Fuck! This bastard. Hah...this hurts, fuck!’

Zerath pulled him out of the tent and across the camp.

The outside world hit Amon like a wave.

Lanterns hung across rows of tents, but they were off now. It wasn’t dark anymore, yet the area still remained gloomy.

Demons moved about casually. So training, so talking none paying attention to the human being dragged past them like cargo.

Zerath stopped in front of another tent, only a short distance away.

"Co," he said. "Let show you." He shoved Amon inside.

The sll hit first. Blood, Iron and old pain.

Amon’s eyes widened as he took in the scene.

A large table stood at the center of the tent, covered with tools. Chains, blades, hooks, and devices whose purpose made his stomach twist. This wasn’t an interrogation room.

It was a torture chamber. Then he saw them. In the corner of the tent, behind thick tal bars, was another cage. Inside lay two figures.

"Harvey...!" Amon shouted. "Mira!"

They didn’t respond. They were unconscious. But alive.

Harvey’s body was slumped awkwardly, his chest rising faintly with shallow breaths. His armor was gone, replaced by blood-stained cloth barely covering his wounds.

Mira lay beside him, her skin pale, her body covered in marks far worse than Amon’s. But they were breathing. They were alive.

Relief crashed into Amon so hard his legs nearly gave out.

"Thank the—" His voice broke. He swallowed hard. "They’re alive..."

They are still alive. Good... that’s good... but their condition looks bad.

Zerath chuckled behind him. "Yes," he said. "but barely."

Amon turned toward him, rage and fear mixing violently in his chest. "You bastard—!"

Zerath’s expression sharpened. "Careful," he said softly. "You’re not the one asking questions here."

"Shit!" Amon cursed. Zerath stepped closer, his presence suffocating.

"Now that you’ve seen them," Zerath continued, his tone almost cheerful, "it’s your turn again."

Before Amon could speak, Zerath struck him.

Amon cried out as pain tore through his body. He stumbled, barely staying upright as blow after blow landed. Zerath showed no restraint, no hesitation.

Amon fell to his knees. Zerath grabbed him and forced him onto the table.

"SCREAM!" Zerath shouted suddenly, his voice sharp with excitent.

Pain followed instantly. Amon scread.

"Ahhhh!"

The sound echoed through the tent, raw and desperate, filling the space with agony. His body convulsed as Zerath continued, relentless and cruel, pushing him to the edge again and again.

Zerath leaned close, his voice low and satisfied. "Let them hear you."

Amon’s vision blurred. Tears stread down his face. Not just from pain, but from the helplessness of knowing Harvey and Mira were right there, unable to help, unable to even wake.

Zerath dug his nails into Amon’s shoulder, then scratched his skin, pulling his hand down to his elbow. Amon’s skin was peeled by that. Red blood splattered from it kike stream.

"Ahhhh!"

The pain beca overwhelming. Zerath did the sa with his other hand. Also on his thighs.

At one point, Zerath’s grip tightened cruelly, and Amon scread louder than before, his voice breaking as the sensation overwheld him completely.

The tent rang with his cries. Eventually, his body gave out.

Zerath stepped back, breathing slightly heavier, eyes shining.

"Wonderful," he said. "You’re still conscious. By the way, what was her na? Mira? That woman was not that bad-looking. She was quite good, you know. Hehe~ I enjoyed torturing her more than anything. You know, she has more uses compared to you guys."

Rage filled Amon’s mind the mont he heard those words.

Mira was like an older sister to him. Hearing such words made him furious. Hatred toward Zerath burned fiercely, but he couldn’t do anything.

He felt helpless. Completely useless.

’I am... still so weak!’

Tears remained in his eyes. From helplessness, from his own weakness. Not from pain.

Zerath walked to one corner where a fire was lit. Inside it were iron rods. He took one that was glowing hot from the fire and pressed it against Amon’s back several tis. Making his skin burned. then his palms.

"Gahhhh!" His scream followed by it.

Zerath grabbed another vial and forced it into Amon’s mouth.

Again, the warmth ca. The forced healing. Again, survival without rcy.

Zerath shoved him toward the cage, throwing him inside without care.

"Rest," he said mockingly. "You’ll need it."

The tent flap closed. Amon lay there, shaking violently, his breath ragged, his body screaming. But his eyes were open.

Focused.Harvey was alive. Mira was alive.

That was enough for now.

Even through the pain, through the fear, a single thought burned brighter than everything else.

I will get us out.

No matter how long it took. No matter how much he suffered. He would not give up.

Just then, he heard it. Outside the tent. In front of the entrance. Zerath was talking to soone.

Despite the burns on his body and the peeled skin, Amon remained conscious and tried to listen.

Outside the tent, Zerath t another captain.

Seeing him, Zerath asked, "Hey, did the Commanders leave for the expedition?"

"Yeah! Just a few minutes ago. You bastard, what were you doing? Torturing them again? You are sick, you bastard. It was good that the Commanders didn’t care about it and left as soon as possible," the demon captain replied.

"Hah... well, I forgot about that. Anyways, we need to move from here before humans find this base and attack us. Not forgetting, we only have one Transcendent person. If Galahad were to co, we would be in real trouble," Zerath said worriedly.

"Yeah. Hope everything will go smoothly. Well, I’ll be going now. I want to rest for a while before we start preparing to move out," the demon said to Vaelrix.

He went in one direction, while Vaelrix went in the opposite.

Inside, Amon lay there, hearing everything. ’I... I will run away soon... tonight...’

But before he could think more, he lost consciousness.
