He reached up with his left hand and pulled his collar all the way aside, giving her full access to his neck. His pale skin caught the silver of the moonlight.
Scarlett looked at him for a long mont. Then her lips parted.
Her teeth shifted, elongating slowly at first and then sharper, longer, until two white fangs curved past her lower lip.
She leaned forward, the curtain of her red hair falling around both of them like a veil, closing the world out.
Her massive breasts pressed against his chest. And then she bit down on his flesh.
"Ah—"
The sound left him before he could hold it back. It was a groan with half pain and half sothing else. His whole body tensed for just a second.
Then his arms found her back and pulled her in.
He held her. Both arms wrapped around her, firm and steady, like he was afraid she might drift away if he let go. He kept her hugged tightly.
She drank blood from his neck. Slowly. Like she wasn’t in a hurry.
And Amon lay still beneath her, breathing through it, holding her close.
He could feel her heartbeat where her chest pressed against his. They were rapid, uneven, too fast for soone who claid she wouldn’t miss him.
His own heart was doing the sa thing.
Thump.
Thump.
Thump.
His right hand moved on its own. It found the back of her head, slipping carefully into the soft waves of her red hair. He began to stroke gently.
The night was quiet around them. Sowhere far below, he could faintly hear the voices of their friends and other people laughing and talking.
Up here, there was only this.
Then he felt it. Sothing warm against his cheek. Then another drop on the side of his neck.
He went still. Her face was pressed close against him, her lips at his neck. There was nowhere else it could have co from.
His hand paused in her hair.
"Scarlett..." His voice ca out quiet. "Are you crying?"
She didn’t reply.
She didn’t pull back. She didn’t respond. She just kept drinking, slow and steady, as if he hadn’t spoken at all.
He didn’t push. He didn’t ask again.
He just let his hand move again through her hair, stroking. Like he had all the ti in the world. Like tomorrow wasn’t coming.
After a while, he didn’t know how long, she stopped drinking.
Her two pointed fangs ca out from his flesh. She pressed her lips softly against the two small marks she’d left, her tongue tracing over them slowly.
Then she lifted herself slightly. She rose just enough to look at him. And Amon looked back up at her.
Her red hair spilled down around his face, a few strands resting against his cheek.
Her eyes were still glowing red.
And they were full of tears. And then.
Drip.
Drip.
Each drop of tear landed on his face.
Amon didn’t move. He lay there and let them fall, watching her face above him. The way she refused to look away.
A slow, soft smile spread across his face. "So," he said gently, "you will miss . A lot, it seems."
The words hung in the cool night air.
Scarlett said nothing.
But then she finally answered him. She nodded. It was honest and sincere.
Amon’s chest tightened so suddenly it almost took his breath.
He had expected it, maybe. He had hoped for it.
’So this is what it feels like,’ he thought.
’Caring about soone. Leaving them behind. Not knowing when you will et them.’
He had lost people before. He had walked away from places and never looked back.
But this. This was different.
His arms, still wrapped around her back, pulled her gently down and she let him. She lowered herself against his chest without resistance, her head resting just below his chin, her fingers curling quietly into the fabric of his shirt.
He now finally understood what feeling he had for Scarlett. And he really didn’t want to hide them.
’I guess...I really started to love her.’ He thought.
He stared up at the sky. Stars everywhere. The moon watching.
His hand found her hair again.
"It’s okay," he murmured into the top of her head, so softly it was almost just breath. "I’ll miss you too. More than anything."
She didn’t reply.
But her grip on his shirt tightened. Just slightly.
And sohow, that was enough.
"Now... you have to co and visit in the future. Got it?" Amon said while gently stroking her.
"Hmm... I will." She finally spoke in a small voice.
"Also... you are the daughter of a Duke. So you might get marriage proposals from other noble families. Since you are at that age and also you are very beautiful. So reject them all. Don’t you dare to accept." Amon said, his tone was serious.
But her answer actually made him happy. "Okay... I won’t... I never intended to accept any in the first place even if you have not told to."
Amon smiled widely. "Good girl. And," he whispered in her ear in a low voice, "you have to wait for ... once I beco stronger, I will co personally to take your hand in marriag–"
Before he could complete his sentence, Scarlett’s hand shot in and covered his mouth.
"Mmf?"
"Yo-you d-don’t have to say this nonsense any further. I-I g-get what you an, okay! You idiot. It’s embarrassing to hear."
She looked up at Amon with her eyes, which were back to athyst color. Cheeks flushed.
Looking too adorable. It was shaful for her to act like this in front of Amon since she was older here.
Chu~
Amon kissed her palm. He couldn’t control himself.
She took her hand away.
"Wh-what do you think you are doing?! You pervert!"
She said while hiding her face on his chest.
This was the first ti she acted like this in front of Amon.
Never ever had she acted this flustered in front of Amon before.
But it seed like she was not going to hide her own feelings.
Sa for Amon.
"Do you have anything that could help us to talk with each other?"
At Amon’s words, Scarlett nodded. She pulled out the sa dark blue crystal from her storage ring.
"It’s a communication crystal. Keep it with you. I will call you... when I have ti."
"Every night, call ."
Amon took it from her hand and put it inside his storage ring.
"Hmm... I will try."
She rested her cheek against his chest. While Amon hugged her.
The moonlight covered their figures. While the sea made soft peaceful sound.
