His people... this group that Isabella had gathered around her... they were beginning to change, shift in ways he didn’t quite understand.

It struck him then—their cooperation, the silent understanding between them. It was new, different. It was... human.

Shelia, his wild sister who once reveled in chaos, was now beginning to find calm in the quiet. There was a certain grace to her movents now, a stark contrast to the raw, untad energy she used to exude.

Opehlia, though still unsure of herself, had grown into soone who could speak her mind, even if she didn’t realize it. Her growth had been quiet, subtle, but it was there. And Luca—Luca, the warrior—had always been a tool, a weapon. But now? Now he was listening. Listening in a way that Kian had never seen before.

Kian turned back to Isabella, his conflicted expression hidden beneath the ice-cold mask he had perfected over years of isolation.

But there it was, that flicker of emotion he refused to acknowledge, a tightening in his chest that had nothing to do with the way she looked or the way she made him feel. No, it was sothing more... fundantal.

Her stubbornness. Her trust issues. The way she made people better simply by being herself. She made them act like this—made them want to change. And that... that confused him.

She was no longer the fragile, helpless creature he’d t weeks ago. She was becoming a force, soone others would follow willingly, soone who, whether she realized it or not, was changing everything around her.

Kian’s eyes softened, just a fraction. It was so fleeting, barely noticeable, but it was there, and in that mont, he wasn’t sure if he was ready to face what that ant for him.

The curtain was pushed open as Luca returned, water sloshing in the container he carried.

Isabella’s eyes flickered open again, her lips curling into a faint, strained smile. "Took you long enough," she whispered, her voice hoarse.

Luca didn’t speak, but he placed the water beside her, his gaze briefly eting Kian’s.

Kian’s expression remained cold, unreadable as ever, but inside, the storm of emotions was slowly brewing.

"You should stop talking" Kian scolded her as he could see that everyti she spoke it took her a lot of effort and it was really painful for her.

Isabella’s eyebrows shot up in surprise at the sharpness in Kian’s tone. She hadn’t expected him to be so... commanding. But she wasn’t one to back down so easily, even when she was barely holding herself together.

She managed a weak but mischievous grin, her voice raspy but laced with that familiar teasing edge. "Oh, so now you’re the boss of ?" she quipped, her eyes twinkling despite the pain. "Maybe I like the sound of that. You’ll have to do better than that to keep quiet, Kian."

She let the words hang in the air, her gaze holding his for just a second longer than necessary, before she closed her eyes back.

Opehlia couldn’t help but giggle, seeing that Isabella still had the strength to be shaless, put her fragile heart at ease.

"I thought she was in pain, when she spoke" Shelia whispered to Luca.

Luca glanced over, his tone dead serious. "She’s in pain, but she’s always been this way. It’s how she copes."

Shelia rolled her eyes, exasperated. "You’re so literal, Luca. You know that, right?"

Cyrus, who had turned invisible, finally reached the room where Isabella was being kept. As his form reappeared, the air around him seed to grow still, as if the very walls of the palace were holding their breath.

He was as silent as a shadow, moving with the grace of soone who knew how to blend into his surroundings. His footsteps made no sound, and even his breath seed controlled, slow, and deliberate. He didn’t want to disturb the fragile peace of the room, but his eyes—those soft, ever-watchful eyes—couldn’t help but fall on Isabella’s pale, flushed face.

He could feel the tension in the air. Kian’s icy presence, Isabella’s soft breaths, the soft rustle of the sheets—everything about this mont felt heavy with sothing unspoken, sothing fragile.

Cyrus stood in the doorway for a mont, his mind racing, his heart hamring. There was an odd weight on his chest, a mix of concern and an unfamiliar feeling that he couldn’t quite place. He was just supposed to be there for her, to help, but in monts like this, he found himself questioning whether he was enough.

Should he step forward? Should he speak?

But he couldn’t. His presence felt like an intrusion in this delicate mont, especially when Kian’s cold, watchful gaze never left Isabella.

Cyrus felt the slightest shift in the air, a subtle tensing of Kian’s body as the other man turned. His instincts flared, and without a second thought, he quickly pressed himself against the wall, barely breathing. His heart pounded in his chest, his breath held, and for a mont, the world felt impossibly still.

Kian’s eyes swept the room, scanning the space with the precision of a predator. His narrowed gaze flicked toward the entrance, lingering for a mont as if he sensed sothing was amiss. But nothing moved, nothing broke the silence.

Cyrus remained frozen, holding his breath, he could not afford to be caught and chased out now.

Not when he wasn’t sure she was fine.

Kian, still unaware of his presence, turned back toward Isabella. The cold indifference in his tone made the air feel even thicker. "I’ll check on you now."

The words hung in the air, but to Cyrus, they felt like a warning—an icy promise of sothing far more than just a simple checkup. The weight of Kian’s presence was suffocating, and despite how still he stood, it was clear that Kian was a man of control. A man who didn’t leave things to chance.

Cyrus swallowed hard, his gaze shifting to Isabella. She looked so small, so fragile beneath Kian’s intense scrutiny. The room felt suddenly too quiet, too tense, and as much as he wanted to step forward, to offer comfort in the only way he knew how, he knew better than to reveal himself now. Not when Kian’s every move was so deliberate.

He couldn’t help but feel a pang of frustration. There was no way for him to protect her here—not like this, not while Kian was in the room.

Cyrus tightened his fists, the need to act gnawing at him.
