Finnegan’s car was packed at the curb. He called as I stepped outside, even though I could already see his car. Why was he in the driver’s seat, though? Where was Jas?
I slipped into the passenger seat, and without a word, he turned on the car and pulled away from the curb.
"Hey," I murmured, turning to face him slightly.
"I’m fine,"
"You don’t have to say that, you know?" I reached across, giving his shoulder a squeeze.
"What you found today was shocking, Finnegan. And what your mother has been doing... No mother should do that to her son. You don’t have to pretend to be fine about it."
"Can we not talk about it?" He rasped, swerving into an isolated alleyway. He turned off the engine, haunted green eyes finally eting mine. "Co here,"
